The last time he tried he may as well have constructed Prism Tower with a piece of string. A chuckle is heard from the towel pile still unmoving from the sofa, and Shielbert gives a firm pat on the top of it to shut him up. He can have his turn in a bit.

“That does mean that we can slim down how many different styles we can go through though! There’s classic notch lapels which is, again, what my brother and I are known for wearing,”

A pause and a grimace.

“Unfortunately. Well, regardless, there’s that. Oh, or a shawl lapel where it gives the illusion of a sleek scarf in place of actual coat lapels, maybe?”

“Oooh, so many choices, and all of which would make you look like the celebrity that you are! Isn’t that just exciting?”

the oblivious gaze that follows after shielbert’s many ramblings of finer details in suit tailorings never leaves el’s features. he’s dumbstruck, blinking the unknown from his face like lashes are windshield wipers. okay? cool story bro, didn’t get a word of that though.   “ um. my. . . my dad used to wear cufflinks ;   those are like earrings for your sleeves! ”

“Now that, I can aid you in!”

Barrage of tea towels now all over Sordward and banning him from moving as a result, Shielbert’s wrath is satiated and his rough-hewn tone is switched back to his usual received pronunciation.

Sordward does offer a muffled “Hello El” and a hand wave though.

“Now, there’s quite an array of suits out there for you to choose from. There’s classic, slim, and modern fits, notch, shawl, or peak lapels, single or double breasted, single, double, or no vents, swallowtail - that’s the type my brother and I gravitate towards -, and– oh! That’s not even taking into account if we were to do unstructured or freeform–”

… Shielbert stops with a sheepish laugh. That might be a lot for someone who has presumably never wore a suit before to take in.

“My apologies, I appear to have gotten a bit carried away with the lingo. Let me start with a more basic question: regular tie or bowtie?”

“ i didn't have to. i never did, at least i THINK   —   but. . .  i can't help but remember all the pokemon sitting in those boxes. ”   satoshi was referring to how he had forced himself to isolate the night prior due to recalling another team plasma encounter. it was enough to cause him to socially shut down, he had even made sure his tepig couldn't come to comfort him. he needed pure solitude, where not even wild pokemon could interfere.

he hesitates, swallows back his words after they’ve awkwardly fumbled from his lips. hello? head swivels ‘round, notices the towering man behind him at the castelia ice cream stand. oh. . . was this about his indecisiveness? el wants to alleviate the situation, but. . . he was here first, right? no, forget about selfish desires for service, el steps back out of line to allow lysandre the chance to take the helm of ordering.            however, he doesn’t head back towards the end of the line just yet.

“Of course! Leafeon doesn’t bite. He’s very laidback.” Painfully so, even. The poor man’s anxiety isn’t lost on him, though, but he doesn’t catch on that Adaman’s the source of gay panic, instead minor surprise crossing his features.

He knew some of his mis-colored hair matched Leafeon’s but…

Clutch distraction. Not that Adaman’s smart enough to notice. “There ya go! Not too bad, innit? Did you know Leafeon’s ears adjust with the seasons? They’re the softest during this time of the year. You’re pretty lucky!” Oh, if you ONLY KNEW, PINEAPPLE BOY.

the way the pokemon's leaf shudders to his touch makes el consider he may be harming it, but adaman's reassurance eases his worries. is it bad to find him cute by the way he's acting? a smile crosses him briefly, only to be grounded by a thick swallow that pulls his lips down.   “ you sure know a lot about your partner, sir. ”

is it wrong to want to show him his tepig in reply? it felt fair, something he ought to do as a likely response to being gifted the chance to pet leafon here. but he worries, a fire-type around a grass-type. . . would that be chancing it? el feels his skin hug too tight to his own body, like he’s meant to shrink back  &&.  step away from adaman’s offer.

he’s. terrified! pokemon were never a strong suit of his, always so wild  &&.  free,  &&.  scarily large. not leafon though. this little rascal looked so. . . soft. like adaman, the man standing just shy of el  &&.  his flustering visage. heart pitter pats vicariously in his chest as he croaks his first words in reply ;   “ ah --  um, s- sure. if. . . that’s okay, i mean. ”
