Vija Celmins, Concentric Bearings B, 1984
“Celmins’ skepticism tells her that painting can never get the better of appearances. Painting is always behind. But the difference is that, once finished, the image remains fixed. This is why the image has to be full - not of resemblance but of searching. All tricks wear thin. Only what comes unasked has a hope.” -John Berger, from The Shape of a Pocket

Bad Bananas 2015 Roundup
2015 brought yet another great year for Bad Bananas, and I hope for you also. It’s truly been amazing to receive so much support this year, work on new projects and hear from so many of you via Email, Facebook and Tumblr. Thanks for keeping us going! The greatest joy this year was to hear from followers who are neither active photographers or artists, but purely come to appreciate your work and enjoy what Bad Bananas aims to do.
I’ve selected 12 photographers who’s work in 2015 I greatly enjoyed seeing unfold or becoming aware of. It’s been a pleasure to anticipate and be somewhat excited to see the artists selected above continue to release new work while also moving their practice forward. Thank you. Thanks for all the support and a great year!
Bad Bananas In Order: Tim Schutsky, TJ Tambellini, Roman Schramm, Anni Leppälä, Adrian Samson, Amanda Jasnowski, Craig Gibson, Eva O’Leary, Sophie Tajan, Corey Bartle-Sanderson, Miranda Lichtenstein, Manon Wertenbroek
