okay @s0cksandcr0cs ... i KNOW this is a tawny frogmouth, which i was told was "in the nightjar family" which to me would mean they are a nightjar but after looking into it i see that they are ACTUALLY "in the family that includes nightjars" without themselves being one. So i guess

Frogmouths are in the same clade (Strisores) as nightjars, not the same family (Caprimulgidae).

Semantics aside we are in complete agreement about nightjars: FUCKEN WEIRD DUDE!!

The name comes from the fact that the males stick their bonkers feathers STRAIGHT UP like standards during flight as a mating display. Highly recommended looking up videos.
