Can Anyone See Me????

Kara is at a crossroads, and one road leads towards Clark and one leads to Lobo. Or rather, one path leads to embracing the responsibility of the life and powers her parents gave her, and the other is continuing to drink her life away, not caring about anything or anyone but her and hers.

Lobo is immensely powerful, and the last of his planet. Just like Kara. And when we meet him, he’s passed out drunk in a bar, oblivious and uncaring of violence and exploitation around him. Just like Kara was trying to be when she first met Ruthye.

Lobo is Kara’s future if she gives up on trying to be good. Drunkenly stumbling through the galaxy not helping anyone or anything and only caring about herself. Maybe not mindlessly cruel, but not kind or good or caring of the pain of the people around her.

It’s why they both get Ruthye’s spiel, it’s why Lobo’s whole introduction mirrors what Kara was just doing demanding to know about the Brigands, it’s why they’re both “the ditz from the bar”, it’s why they both have the gag with the space suit collar.

It’s why Lobo crops up each time Ruthye and Kara are faced with choices, sometimes acting as a devil on their shoulders, sometimes just a big lurking ominous warning of their bleak future if they make the wrong choices. It’s why Lobo says “let Ruthye have her revenge”, uncaring of how the violence might haunt Ruthye for the rest of her life. He’s a big constant reminder why Kara cannot let this thirteen year old girl be consumed by violence, and of who her parents didn’t want her to be.

Lobo is Kara’s foil and shadow.

Eva is going through a million emotions here. Still tries to be strong for her little boy, to guide him, to hide him. Then she's sad for a moment. I think Eva knew there would be no return from this, that she would die out there looking for Vergil and she did it anyways.

She might have even thought by logic that Vergil was dead by this point. That this was futile. And this was why she told Dante to hide and change his name instead of looking for Vergil.

Sparda extended his grace and mercy to his own kind when he refused to destroy the gates between two worlds. It's impossible and out of character that he wouldn't have that same kindness toward his own child. Besides, as someone formerly evil himself, Sparda would value rehabilitation and second chances. It's after all how he woke up to justice himself.

If Rebellion and Force Edge and their dynamic with Dante are any indication, Yamato allows Sparda to feel Vergil as much. So he feels that pain and knows his sons' pains.

At first glance, it feels warm and tender. But something about it carried a quiet, foreboding undertone I couldn't quite place — until I realized Eva's pose strongly echoes the mother in Egon Schiele's Tote Mutter (Dead Mother I, 1910).

In Schiele's piece, the contrast between the warm, vital colors of the child against cool and deathly tones for the mother is meant to emphasize loss, the fragility of life, protection mixed with inevitable separation, and that haunting mother-child bond in the face of mortality. Schiele painted it young, drawing from his own experiences with family loss and emotional isolation.

The contrast in the DMC piece, however, doesn't live in the colors, but in the subtext. For those of us who knows the lore, with full knowledge of Eva's and the twins' fate, it flips into something elegiac: a "dead mother" holding her living sons, frozen in a moment of love that can't last.

Under that interpretation, the warm, golden-hour glow and soft brushwork only help to make the piece even more tragic. They make it feel deliberately recollected, like a cherished memory that's already slipping into the past, something Dante and Vergil might remember in fragments years later, half-dream and half-pain, right before everything burns.

That reunion in S3 is going to be angsty and I can't wait!

SPOILERS FOR NETFLIX DEVIL MAY CRY SEASON 2 AHEAD

Reverse Mountain looks unbelievable, especially with all the fog around it. It also sounded amazing in the movie theater. Laboon also sounded amazing in there. I did not miss Luffy's "5 more minutes Dadan." I would love to see Dadan in live action. I loved Crocus. He was hilarious. My mom also loved him and his hat. She found his introduction to Luffy hilarious. I also found it funny every time Luffy would give him a jump scare.

Lord... Smoker is hot. He's smoking hot lol 🔥🥵 There was also a cheer when Garp showed up with Koby and Helmeppo. Garp is also hot. I have a thing for live action Garp, y'all. I would be his sugar baby in a heartbeat. Plus, I need someone to pay my house, so... Seems like a win-win to me. Their whole conversation was so well written.

Sanji is taking Robin's job of scaring Usopp for now. His two comments on ghost ships were hilarious. Usopp's screams when Mr. 9 grabbed him were also hilarious. Sanji is also just full of jabs today because he rightfully disses Mr. 9's style. We love Mr. 9. He just needs to get himself a stylist. Vivi vs. Nami was really well done. The choreography was great, and Charithra looked intense.

There were claps when the Rumbar Pirates started singing Binks Sake, screams for Brook, and some questionable sounds at the sight of Yorki. Brook is my second favorite straw hat, so I definitely screamed for him. Yorki is hot. I'm not gonna lie. In my mind, I was like... Does he HAVE to die?! This is when I really would've loved for that Yorki is Greenbull theory to be true.

As the straw hats question Vivi and Mr. 9, we also see Garp introducing Smoker to Baroque Works. My favorite part here was Tashigi coming in and recognizing Robin as the girl in the bar. Poor Tashigi. The woman who was flirting with her had ulterior motives. Crushing.

I loved to hear Iñaki singing Binks Sake, but I have to be honest. The first thing that came to mind was Luffy singing in Skypiea. I was like.... "YAAAAASSS! This means we're probably getting Luffy's baka song!!!" I hope Iñaki keeps training his voice for it.

Overall, I really love the look of the lighthouse. Yes, it's not inside Laboon, but I think it worked. Jacob (Usopp) making a reference to that was enough. Plus, it gave Luffy more time with Crocus alone, so then it's believable when Crocus says that Luffy may be the one that Roger is waiting for.

My theory was that Sanji shaves them off as a extra layer of “fuck them Vinsmokes I’m Black-Leg now" and we are probably gonna get a scene of Sanji getting ready in the morning waxing those bad boys away some season in the future (if we are lucky the journey to Alabasta on the desert will have zero shave cream and any other hygiene products to be honest because they are traveling the fucking desert on foot and Zoro will look at his face one morning and call him Curly and receive a boot to the face while Sanji covers his forehead like there is a brand in it)

But what if they incorporate it to the narrative?

If we ever get to Whole Cake in the live action (debatable) or have a earlier flashback when the whole wanted poster debacle happens, especially if Sanji starts having Vietnan flashbacks when he sees Duval and his iron mask (more likely)

Won’t it be even more poignant if Sora’s fight for her children humanity quite literally stripped Sanji from any physical connections with Judge?

Judge is the one with curly eyebrows. All his children have it but only Sanji has his mother’s hair (and her whole face just in another font if we are honest with ourselves) and that is used as one of the biggest signifiers of his restored humanity in contrast with Evil Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby over there
