i just cant bring myself to hate a character who already clearly hates themselves
I don’t actually hate Mike! I love him so much but it hurts me
stranger things, first show in history to introduce the cyrano trope and shoot cyrano right in the head with chekhov’s gun
right, i forgot that if they fired the gun, we would’ve actually gotten some payoff.
That was a mess, that's all I'm going to say.
fuck hawkins I’m going to the cottage
they held onto byler like it was a secret that needed to be kept under lock and key btw. if it wasn’t bait then why the fuck did you keep trying make the fandom second guess what was gonna happen with byler?
it could have been so easy to clarify “oh shit no mike and el are still together for sure. sorry for the confusion, no byler.” but they held onto it for the “shock factor” and to keep people on their toes but it just made everyone mad and it was the most predictable, conformitive ending possible.
like if it’s not a twist why are you trying to make it seem like there’s some fucking twist there was NEVER a twist ANYWHERE????? that’s goddamn queerbait!!

imagine writing an ending this bad that people think it's a fake ending and there's literal EVIDENCE to it
fuck Mike wheeler I hate him but also he’s my favorite character
how did stranger things 5 manage to give us the most evil version of kill your gays without actually killing anyone off
they gave us “kill yourself, gays”
my brain while watching this scene:
finale was cooked the moment they let mike wheeler build a bomb

For the record, Byler not being endgame doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t have been, and it also doesn’t mean that Mike is straight. Everything that we see between him, Will, and El throughout the show portrays him as a closeted queer character, who, upon watching the finale; I now fully believe is bisexual. He’s experienced confusion, internalized homophobia, fear, guilt, and grief. He stares at Will’s DnD binder on the shelf, thinking of the people, experiences, and dreams he has to leave behind. He believes that Will has moved on, he blames himself for El’s fate, and imagines himself alone in his future. He accepts this for himself because he thinks it’s what he deserves. He still has a lot of growing to do, but one day he’ll come to terms with himself and find love again. This is the theory I choose to believe.
biggest plothole of the series
(not mine)
well yes
Making a lesbian character say weird ooc dick jokes constantly
Appropriating the rainbow symbol from queer culture only to proceed on doing torture porn on the gay character that they created and give him the first slow burn rejection in the world
Main gay character can't even kiss his fake epilogue boyfriend made up by his real future husband (after he gets fustigated 50 times)
They didn't even bother to cast an epilogue boyfriend actor with actual chemistry with Will so they don't even look like boyfriends
Only bisexual character in the show disappeared with no explanations after making her the focus of multiple romantic moments with Robin and was also introduced with zero purpose outside of being a romantic interest in the first place
Mike Wheeler's closet blown into pieces while they were well aware of Byler being the biggest ship in the show, and he doesn't even say I love you to his girlfriend who he treated like shit for no reason other than random drama
Using the feelings of a queer character to resolve the problem of a straight relationship that is doomed anyway in the finale, then diminishing the depth of queer love while propping love born by A TRAUMA BOND between Mike and El that suddenly always "understand each other" when they do not in the previous seasons multiple times... Then keeping the queerbait at maximum level until the last moment possible by never doing anything more than platonic between the straights until the finale
I’m sorry but all these plot holes in Stranger Things 5 were insane. They said the finale would answer all the questions but not only did it barely answer anything, it just created dozens more
Also RIP to all those pregnant women in the lab who were literally blown up

yupppppp i audibly laughed
Duffers pls bffr…
i wasn’t manifesting anything, i was literally analysing the cinematography, the blocking, the colour theory, the narrative beats, all the stuff i was trained to look for during my TV degree. the signs were there because the show put them there.
the duffers absolutely queer baited the audience. everything I learned academically about visual storytelling was pointing toward a byler slow burn, and then they completely abandoned their own setup. we didn’t hallucinate subtext; we didn’t “make up” a ship. they built it, then pretended they didn’t, and the result reeks of homophobia.
they didn’t subvert expectations, they ignored their own narrative groundwork. that’s not clever writing, that’s just bad writing. they tore down a storyline they spent years constructing, and now the overall story makes zero sense.
