“… true. B-But, what if the living room’s lights are off and it’s actually the living room in a haunted mansion?!”

He hasn’t been hiding out at home until the spooky season was over, which was all part of an elaborate plan since the very beginning -- of course not!

“I guess those could be demons…” There were a lot of demons. “Do they have horns?”

Ishimaru frowned in thought at that and adjusted his tie. According to some of the students the sounds had started not too long ago and though some of the faculty had tried to handle it themselves they hadn’t been able to find out what could be causing it. Which only puzzled him more as that clearly meant it wasn’t a draft like he’d been thinking.

Though he quietly moved a short distance from the other as he stood next to him and nodded in agreement, motioning for him to accompany him as he glanced around to ensure there weren’t any troublemakers along the way. It was his duty after all.

“I-I’m afraid so… T-the staff hasn’t been able to find out what’s c-causing it either… T-though the basement is rather old… E-eh… A-alright… I-it shouldn’t be terribly far… I-I doubt its anything like that e-either…”

“Guess you’ll need the extra hand then with investigating! Let’s-a go see what it is, eh?” His optimism seemed to be unwavering, not wanting to unnerve the boy than he may have already been.

Aside from the prospect of the paranormal, everything in this world seemed to be, well, normal looking enough -- a normal city with normal people. Given that Luigi’s dimensional antics often ended up in less than savory locations, a place like this was a nice change of pace.

?!?! A powerful camera flash— it happens before he can even cover his face. When his eyes open, there’s a sour expression to match. Mainly confused. “Wh…Why did you…?”

“Oops! S-Sorry about that, I really didn’t wanna scare ya! I was just trying to take a picture of the city here, that’s all.” He’d look at the Dual Scream as the photo began to develop -- a grand sight of the skyscrapers before him that was obscured by the poor kid who happened to be in the way.

“That’s-a right; he’s kinda fancied the whole ghosts beyond our realm and understanding thing ever since learning about otherworldly displacement. Y’know, the endless possibilities of discovery and all that.” Truth be told, Luigi already had his fill of dimensional hopping, but he was too nice to turn down E. Gadd’s request.

Besides, he got to be in the company of an old friend from the tournament those years ago, so the trip was worth it in that regard. Though he wished they could’ve met under different circumstances like kart racing or golf!

He wasn’t quite sure what to make of the other. His clothing was rather bright and the strange vacuum and device in his hand instantly made him nervous, resulting in him fiddling with his armband. Even if he was taller by comparison. Though this person seemed just as anxious as he was so he pushed down his anxiety and merely reassured him that there was no need to apologize.

“A-ah… I-It… I-its alright… I-I… I-I was merely trying to g-greet you… E-eh… T-though… I-I do need some a-assistance… T-there’s been some odd s-sounds coming from the school’s basement and I can’t s-seem to find what’s causing it…”

Assistance, was it? Fortunately for him, Luigi didn’t mind lending a helping when someone needed it. But how come a good chunk of time, said help would involve ghosts?

Oh well. It’s not like the sounds were said to be exactly the work of the supernatural. Maybe it could’ve been a leaky pipe that has gone unattended, or a pesky rat... or a ghost.

“Uh, s-sure! I’m-a willing to help ya out. Did you just start hearing these sounds recently?” Adjusting the Poltergust on his back, he’d nod before walking to the boy’s side. “Just count on me, Luigi -- ghost hunter in the works!”

“Well I - don’t know!”

“Maybe some of the ones I summoned wandered off! What do your ghosts look like?”

“W-Wandered off?” Why did she sound so nonchalant about it?!
