A thing that will be forever disappointing to me about the New Scaremenster + World Scare comics is that, while completely out of canon, they could have at least had an interesting villain.
Like everyone has already said how fucking insulting was to have lothar-the-fat-backgrounder-with-one-line be the fuck ass twist villain, but it's crazy cuz I genuinely hoped they were teasing something better????
Like they where recycling once again the "Human VS Monsters" conflict, but yk, they had in the background past villain that were very much related to these plots????
Like. Moanica was in the background. Sylphia Flapper was in the background.
Imagine how epic it could have been if it was revealed all the anti-monster integration villains had teamed up!!!! Like "Van Hellscream is BACK, and working with LORD STOKER" LIKE OMGGGGGGGGG make it about ASOME, the villain group from the Ghoulfriends books.
It would have also been so cool to see them clash. To have their ultimate failure be because of the very hate they preach being the divider amongst them selves.
Genuinely, having Moanica get a G1 introduction as Sylphia's seemingly ""lackey"" would have been kinda cool. Have Van Hellscream and the New Salem's Sheriff work behind monsters back, with also Lord Stocker doing the double game as he plots to regain power in Vampire Society (from which he's been outcasted since Elissabat's rise to the throne). Is Ramses evil again? Maybe this time around they are blackmailing him, saying the have Dedyet (yk, if only they hadn't changed the de Nile lore to be a boring G3 retcon 🙄) or he's pressured by Nefaria, his sister. Crabgrass is here too and so it's Bartleby (would he get along with Van Hellscream or compete to be seen as leader of the normies?👀). Maybe there could even be some new villain with original lore!!!
Why was the head of it all random 16 yrs old Manny Taur???? Why not bring back Van Hellscream??????? I don't get it. I know the comics struggle with being based on Once Bitten Twice Dumb but like, they also just missed such a good opportunity???? Like the reveal of who was controlling the zombies should have been Moanica, NOT LOTHAR!!!! At the end of World Scare it could have been revealed she was actually under SYLPHIA, (not manny!!!).

Making it so that Dracula dying was related to Lord Stocker's doing would have also made that whole obtd shit ass plot more interesting and acceptable. But doubling down on killing another random parent without giving any interesting significance to the death of the one that was already killed off was (again) so lazy. Like boo hoo I'm not falling for the shock value ???? Also where are the mothers??? Why is Cleo's mom, the one that's SUPPOSED to be missing, here- yet every other mother (Ramoanah, the Bride) has been deleted from existence??? Like ??? BRING THEM BACK😭😭😭 Maybe make it part of Stocker's plan to now try and force Ramoanah to get remarried with him so that he can climb back in vampire society or something 😭😭 add that to the "reasons he killed Dracula ". Maybe that could have been interesting idk. Draculaura's character was completely assassinated anyway due to the once bitten twice dumb plot. At least make the family drama interesting??
I feel mean saying this but the comics piss me off even more thinking it's not being based on obtd that makes them bad. It's the fact they're not even trying to do something cool anyway?? Even when there's a very clear opportunity since they decided to add *MOANICA and SYLPHIA*. But refused to explain it!!! WTF. THAT ALONE COULD HAVE BEEN THE WHOLE PLOT!!!
