It’s Stan’s turn to be stunned; he’s never seen anything like that. All he knows is that it’s far, far bigger than any rifle or even your most beefed up shotgun, which leads him to one conclusion:
“…A cannon!?” his voice piques with barely restrained cackling again. The shadow’s enamored with Apphia’s ‘magic trick’ and bites his knuckles to deter himself from laughing, if he starts again he might never stop. Stan straightens himself back up soon enough, realizing he should probably try and look at a little dignified, but… if something’s funny it’s funny. End of. Is he supposed to not laugh at a small girl with a deadly weapon? Get real.
So much for trying to teach this kid something about chaos though, seeing as she’s obviously wrote the book on it.
“I concede.” Said in jest, but it’s still something. “By now usually I’ve been taunted into hitting the other party, but you being a child and a chaotic force has dimmed my dark fire.” He looks at his wrist, pretending to roll up a nonexistent sleeve and check a watch that very clearly isn’t there. “…So, unless you say something aggravating in the next minute, I think I’ll take a raincheck on cursing you? Respect for the hustle, yadda yadda yadda.”
To be fair, Apphia didn’t know what half of these things were until she got here - the only way she’s been able to figure it out is actually firing them, and google. Google is not particularly helpful, though. Nor is Space-Google.
“Not a cannon. It’s uh- um. Arr pee gee, I think. This planet’s glyphs are difficult to remember, and my translator is... probably older than me.”
She’d kept meaning to get a new one, but there were no stores in this system with any good ones! Just off-brand low quality translators with... like, three languages at best, and none of them the language this planet speaks.
She shifts the weapon around haphazardly, moving it to point at the rocket at the end.
“This part explodes on impact. Lighter than a cannon, better distance too. I’d say it was worth the money, but... I stole it.”
“Honestly, people tend to just attack me with no prompting. Just for the fun of attacking a child, I guess. And then I murder them.”
The firearms had certainly been a nice way to speed that up lately.
“As for cursing, I’m... not big on it. Lost my soul a while ago, never really recovered from it, so... I’unno. I’ll just do... this instead.”
Turning, Apphia aims her RPG, and fires a rocket at a nearby Mafia boat. None of the crew survive. The boat is gone.
