       “Yeah, don’t compair me to him-- ever.” His nostrils flared. “It doesn’t matter what’s on my mind. Just tell me what were you saying?”

      “I’m not a regular girl, I’m difficult in a different way.” Malia gave a nod as he gave his name and waited for a moment before sharing her own. “Malia.”

      “See that wasn’t super hard or something. --Plus that’s a nice name. Never heard it before.” He smirked. “What’s up with this town? --I’ve been here for a few days and I’ve heard about three murders.”

      “I’m sorry! --I didn’t mean to! I’m sure whatever you were saying was super important.” He sighed. “A lot has been on my mind.”

“Maybe I will stay at home tonight…”

      “Come on Lydia, that was funny. --Besides, if you stay home then I’ll ditch my homework and come over.” He said with a cheeky smile. “Then it’ll be your fault I fail.” 

“Are you laughing at my intelligence, Chase?” she asked with a slight pout.

         “If the shoe fits.”

❝ I asked you if you were okay? You looked a   little out of it but uh.. I guess that’s why. ❞

      “I mean, I didn’t think I looked that out of it. --But yeah I’m fine. Just been feeling weird lately. Like someone’s watching me.”

“I could always give you a hand with that?”

       He chuckled. “I’m sure you would. But I kind of want to take on AP classes on my own.” He scratched the back of his head. “But you can come over if you’d like.”

“Well, what are you doing with your afternoon?”

      “Uh, I have lacrosse after school, but I’m free after that. --However I have a shit ton of homework so I can’t stay out long.”

“—- magic?”

        “Well, since you worked so hard to find me-- I feel like I owe you something?”
