Seven years in the fandom

I just realized something. I've spent seven years in the She-Ra fandom, as I started seeking out Hordak and Entrapdak fan content in 2019. I've seen amazing fan art, read fan fiction running the gamut from deeply moving to hilariously bonkers, absorbed insightful analyses of the characters and themes, and survived stan wars. I wrote fan fiction myself for the first time since college, and even tried my hand at fan art.

I was present on Tumblr when the Entrapdak and spacebat fandoms were thriving, but they have since quieted down. Many fans who were central to the fandom have moved on, and it makes this fandom a quiet, wistful space at times.

Then again, when new people discover Entrapdak and the space bats years later, it's charming. I feel like a bartender in an old, lonely bar, welcoming in a new patron on a quiet night. "Glad you found us! Make yourself at home."
