Iβm jealous of Camilla and Henryβs relationship
i lovee henrymilla i love the aesthetics of their relationship i love the dramatics of it in the book and i think they definitely match eachothers freak on sublime levels so i completely see where you're coming from.
on the other hand though my interpretation of their relationship wasn't romantic. i really love the headcanon that camilla is a very repressed lesbian so although i do think she used the power she had over men to her advantage (leading richard and henry on, using cloke's attraction to her to keep an eye on bunny) she was never actually attracted to henry or had a relationship with him. i also imagine charles' abuse affected her very deeply so i can see her looking for a brother figure in henry after losing her own. francis said that he and henry used to talk about how fun it would be to have a sister, so to me it ties in nicely and fits with their dynamic of henry trying to shield her from charles. personally i also just don't see henry as someone who would be interested in relationships as i don't think he could ever be comfortable being that close to someone (which is also part of why i think he killed bunny but off topic.) i do think they loved eachother very deeply in a platonic way and annoyingly we know so little about her character that it's hard to say anything for sure, but i love rambling about them anyway and romantic or not i too envy their dynamic.
The Secret History
βBut how,β said Charles, who was close to tears, βhow can you possibly justify cold-blooded murder?β Henry lit a cigarette. βI prefer to think of it,β he had said, βas redistribution of matter.β
The way I'm obsessed with this group, ugh!!!

Imagine trying to explain labubus and italian brainrot to henry winter
cool girls are born with weird paranoia and guilt, round eyes, and a morbid longing for the picturesque at any cost
I think the death of the farmer is actually the process of killing Bunny from an outsider's perspective. To outsiders it's a cult.Β To insiders it's a fancy divine spiritual deeply connected to god Ancient Greek ritual. But this book is written in first person POV so it actually painlessly allows you to have two experiences.
The first one is that if you view it from an outsider's perspective, it's a group of crazy, pretentious art freaks going crazy with their rituals and randomly murdering a civilian.Β
But the second one is a personal experience. From the inside you follow Richard into the ceremony. You put on sheets, take off your shoes and run barefoot on the grass. You fall in love with Henry, growing to hate Bunny, pushing him towards the edge, sacrificing him. In this view it becomes something tolerable, something explainable, something that can be justified with "he was just a bitch and deserved it." The rationality of Bunny's death is even higher and more acceptable than that of the farmer's. But they're just civilians from any other perspective.
Julian morrow is so funny because why is he telling Richard he knows bunny rather well and following it up with "he's really quite timid, puritanical almost"

i canβt stop thinking about how Henry tells Richard βYouβre not very happy where you come from, are you?β¦The others donβt really understand that sort of thing, you knowβ and then the book ends with βAre you happy here?β / βNot particularly, but youβre not very happy where you are, eitherβ
both of them just wanted to get away so bad and they tried to escape into their own worlds by aestheticizing everything but in the end they both come up bust
Only female in the boys group
does such thing as the secret history OCs get accepted in this fandom or will you throw tomatoes at me if i confess i have one. or two.
βHenry winked solemnly at her from across the table.β Henry Winter, how are you possibly achieving that? How does one even wink solemnly??
What the fuck

The fact that Richard compared himself to Gatsby is quite strange considering the fact he's more like nick if I'm being honest. I feel like he's coping and wishes he was Gatsby.
Oh what a sad sad creature he was
Richard Papen is truly god's strongest soldier because imagine being in love with every single member of your friend group and then learning said friends regularly host hedonistic rituals in which they all sleep together and to which you alone are not invited
