You canβt βjust stop saying sorryβ. You do something, something so little, like accidentally bump into someone. You feel horrible about it. Your brain starts panicking and you have trouble trying to breathe. You stutter an apology. They say itβs okay, but you accidentally do it again, and you apologize again. They just say βAha, you can stop saying sorry.β And you feel horrible that youβve probably made them angry or upset, so you mutter out an apology for the third stupid time, and they just say to stop saying sorry.Β Stop saying sorry.Β
You canβt just tell someone to stop saying youβre sorry.

my best friend does this all the time. might I suggest that instead of telling people βstop saying sorryβ to tell them something a little softer like βno need to apologize!β or βno worriesβ? I know the last one sounds a little contradictory for someone with anxiety, but as someone with anxiety, even small reassurances that itβs okay mean everything to me.
I usually say something like βits okay, you didnt do anything wrongβ if the apology seems like it comes out of nowhere. Iβll also ask what they think they did wrong and reassure them about that.
i have major anxiety, i canβt just stop saying sorry. little reassurances like the ones in the reblogs above this are so much nicer than being ordered to stop saying sorry. it can make you sound mad depending on the context, and if youβre anything like me itβll make someone only more sorry

Please consider writing for gender neutral, or even male readers, and readers of other genders. We exist, and it is very hard for us to find stories on this website.
If you only write for female readers: Please donβt just say that itβs a βcharacter abc x readerβ fic. It can easily misinterpreted as a story for gender neutral readers. Specify the gender of the reader on your fics, that shows some support as well.
Give blog recommendations of writers who write for readers of other genders as well. That helps a lot.
But most important: Show your support. Do not exclude readers who arenβt female.Β
