I never had the skin for this world The people in it are too sharp... So sharp that I wonder, If when the earth turned my body to bones You could see the scratches On their surface... I never had the eyes to see the future In the way that life always whispers How it’s right there in front of you I just reached out into the darkness Feeling around for what? I don’t know... I never had the voice To bind another soul to mine Could never find the words That would essentially make up me So the rest of the world Could read me and relate I never had the heart for love Or the blood That would taste like wine On the lips of those Who were thirsty for it.. I only had the muscle That rattled inside When i took a breath And everything shook Looking back... I never really lived...

I go for these long walks at night, Sometimes to exercise my body, Sometimes to exercise my demons... And as the sun starts to sink I pass by all these homes With their living rooms lit up And happy families all sprawled out on the floor Playing with their children Laughing, smiling, living... And I wonder to myself, "Why can't that be me?"... And that's how I feel inside. Like an outsider looking in With his nose pressed against the glass Imagining his life like that for just one day. You almost wanna laugh with them So you can be a part of it Cuz that's what you crave. But like a breath against a pane glass window All hints of you eventually fade...
