Remember those elven artifacts
You know those little things that Solas was always pointing out and telling us to activate? They’re supposedly from the time of the ancient elves and are meant to strengthen the Veil. There’s just one problem. Back then, there was no Veil.
So, what the hell did Solas have us turn on?
So, I think about this every time I play.
After you turn on enough of them, you get the “Measuring Veil Strength” quest at the war table, which takes twelve freaking hours to complete, and only shows a rift in the mountains above Dennet’s farm. Every time you activate one, Solas says something like, “good, the veil is stronger, this should protect from demons”.
Now think about Cole’s and Solas’s personal quests. Both involve spirits and trying to keep them like spirits. Maybe the elven artifacts were a way for spirits to stay spirit-like, and not turn into demons - that way abominations and demons become nonexistent once he does tear down the veil?
Inquisition is full of hints that DA4 will be in Tevinter, and have at least a side quest about curing Tranquility. Since mages who were made Tranquil had that done to stop demons because they couldn’t control their magic, wouldn’t it add credence to the idea that the “Ancient Elven Artifacts” were used to prevent such things from happening, and thus Tranquility now is okay to be healed?
