Going to Madagascar this summer was such a life changing experience. People often say “life changing” with little truth, but I can honestly say that the things I experienced there have changed my outlook on life forever. The trip impacted me in a way that I originally did not intend it to. My heart felt every emotion possible while being in the beautiful country of Madagascar. Anger, happiness, bliss, confusion, pity, sadness, guilt and compassion included. From the poverty to the amazing landscapes and to the nature and overall beauty of the Island, I was often confused about how exactly I was feeling from day to day. The trip opened my eyes to the harsh realities that third world countries face, making me even more fortunate to be an American citizen. The trip has only broadened my horizons and increased my interest in conservation.
