and so many people, like an actually alarming number of people, do not even have a basic understanding of the show.

There was no need to have Jeremy stuck with the Claire plot line. I get the point of her character but Carmy is such a layered character that there were already ways to explore and understand his trauma and how it shapes everything about him.

So much more could have been explored through his relationships with Mikey, Donna, and Richie, but instead they keep him stuck with that.

The Carmy/Claire conflict at the end boiling down to “everyone has mental health issues, so Carmy should have been able to work it out with her and not act like it was hard for him” was such a weird direction for a show that has built itself around mental health crises.

In my opinion it’s very weird to have the “love interest” straight up downplay her partner’s mental health issues. Makes me think that this was done on purpose to show that she’s not the endgame.

Or maybe I’m giving the show too much credit idk 🤷🏽

I think it’s giving the show too much credit at this point, because the way that arc was left in season 4 makes it seem like the show wants to keep pushing them until the end.

But it would be such a sad ending if Carmy ended up with someone whose basic understanding of mental health issues is fundamentally flawed.

I will forever be annoyed thinking about the direction the Carmy/Donna and Carmy/Richie scene took in season 4.

I still have the same thought that I had after just watching the last season.

Christopher Storer should have stuck to his original plan of a three-season arc for the story, because now, after season 4, the show is in a position where I am concerned it’s not going to land the ending.

I had loved season 3 of The Bear but all that build up of Carmy’s psychological analysis did not land for me in season 4 with the way Storer dealt with Carmy as a character.

So much could have been done with the Carmy/Donna and Carmy/Richie scene.

And now the fucking surprise drop doesn’t even excite me like that 😒
