Outdoor photos of the infamous Winchester Mystery House, an elaborate yet reduced 4.5 acre plot - once a massive 162 acres - covering 160 rooms, many of which were built with unknown purpose. The Winchester mansion is known as the former home of the widow Sarah Winchester, whom lost her husband, William Winchester, the owner of Winchester Repeating Arms Company, to tuberculosis and was left a hefty estate. It is said Sarah built the home without the assistance of an architect, with many mysterious doors (see photo directly in center), windows, and stairs leading nowhere, to house and confuse any spirits that meant harm, having fallen at the hands of the invention of her late husband.
