hi!!! just found your planner breakdowns and i love them <3 i was wondering if you'd be willing to share what your reading annotation path is like? ie what exactly you note/do as you read. ive realised all i really do is underline stuff i like and i want to be more intentional and thorough with my reading
i struggled answering this because 'i just underline based on vibes' didn't feel like a sufficient answer. truthfully, i don't have any sort of system (ive seen some posts using color coded tabs for annotation categories, nothing like that happens in my books) but, after some pondering, i think my annotations are related to my great need for understanding. if i feel a line reveals something about a character, their motivations or feelings, or about the world of the book, and sometimes about the author themselves, it's getting marked. i also like repetition so i underline it when i notice it and write the page # it's referencing.
(ex, a book i recently read had a scene where a young boy helps his blind grandfather find a bullet hole in a sign by guiding his hand over it, later on that boys mother tries to find a carving she made on the wall of her old classroom that has been covered with paint by feeling the texture of the wall. thats connected, i feel)
but i also do a great deal of underlining pretty sentences, or lines that sound great or have a rhythm to them. i'm not a writer, so i can only marble at the skill necessary to create beautiful sentences.
as to deepening your reading, i think writing about what you're reading is essential to that imo. in my book journal i often try to work out what the is book getting at, what's it trying to say, and how did that make me feel. It's not overly coherent though, it's very stream of conscious-like.
