(side note this assumption came up in a sibling's dnd campaign where he specified that gender roles didn't exist so it wouldn't make sense for my character in the campaign to be non-binary and for one my pc was always misgendered as female and second like none of the npcs were even gnc so :/)

For the longest time my boyfriend hasn't really discussed me being trans. He's said that he respects it and such but I could tell it was an uncomfortable topic for him. He wouldn't invite me to things his family would be at and he tries to steer me away from meeting his parents. hes more or less a stereotypical jock type guy and it made sense to me he was struggling with the fact he was gay. Really sad, but normal unfortunately. I recently learned that his dad is big against gay people, trans in specific. My boyfriend respects his dad but hes terrified of him. Terrified he'll learn about how im trans and that his son is dating such a person.

I dont know man just makes me sad.

Remember that guy who said he couldn't use the right pronouns because of trauma? He explained it to me.

Apparently, since it's been imprinted into his brain that women are like [this] and men are like [this], and then he got bullied and beat up for not using the right pronouns, he can't use the correct pronouns for someone.

I don't believe in violence (with exceptions), a human is human, and I don't want to see them hurt. I do understand exactly why they beat him up, especially if he tried to use the "it's too hard" excuse.

Besides that, he's saying this like thousands of transgenders (eeeeeveryone under the umbrella) didn't have the EXACT same thing ironed into their brains by our horrible transphobic and homophobic society. Fuck it, I'm still struggling with some of the things implanted in my brain.

Which he isn't, being as he had the audacity to say "if I try to use the right pronouns it will end badly" without bothering to explain wtf he meant with that bullshit excuse.

I just. Him saying it's trauma is the only thing that gives me pause enough to not scream at him (plus the fact that I do care what happens to him, and people I love do as well). I can see the fact that yeah, it might be a struggle that every time you correctly use the right pronouns of someone trans you're reminded of people beating the shit out of you. I can see a perfectly moral person having trouble and wanting to avoid it.

But it's something that you can't just... choose to avoid, I suppose. If he's not lying to me about even having trauma in the first place (I'm... not sure. my heart tells me no), he's going to have to learn how to deal with the trauma, like how anyone with trauma ultimately does if they want to keep going.

And he's actively choosing to ignore it and goes on hurting people. It ticks me off but makes me feel guilty at the same time because AHIKSHDFJASDFL don't use trauma as an excuse but also I don't want to tell you to put yourself through pain but also you're hurting people and I'm ABSOLUTELY overthinking this.

Whenever I see an x reader post with a character i hc as gay, I scoff and think 'no way is that guy ever getting with a girl-' and then I remind myself I'm not a girl but the feeling still stays. Idk, is it internalised transphobia, or is it just me recognising that some people are exclusively attracted to binary men? I don't think I'd feel this way if I wanted phallo, so I'm leaning towards the former.
