This Is Social Work

This training is an evidence-based treatment for children who have experienced sexual abuse or other serious traumatic events. This is a web-based course that provides 10 hours of CEUs. This course is free of charge.

"It's the first time someone has been killed by armed police in Iceland since it became an independent republic in 1944. Police don't even carry weapons, usually. Violent crime in Iceland is almost non-existent."

At the cafe at 3 Center Plaza, the idea is to provide a place where everyone can eat with dignity, regardless of their ability to pay. This is a pay-it-forward model and will only work if the community supports it and one another.

While many people know that brain injury can cause physical problems such as headaches, dizziness, impaired memory and problems with balance and walking, what’s often unseen – except by family members, friends and even some survivors themselves – are personality changes that come when brains have been wounded. It’s something that an increasing number are grappling with, particularly among injured soldiers.

Although the words "hurry up" did little if nothing to increase my child's speed, I said them anyway. Maybe even more than the words, "I love you." The truth hurts, but the truth heals... and brings me closer to the parent I want to be.
