Today was a good day with this one.

Try it,"I'm not going to the gym because working out is not a priority." "I'm not going to have dinner with you because seeing you is not a priority." "I won't make it to your work function because supporting you is not my priority." Sometimes we use and manipulate language to serve us, other times it's acceptable to honor our priorities. "I'm not able to have dinner with you because I have a huge project at work I need done tonight, so work is a priority spending time with you is not" might sting a little but is someone honoring their boundaries and clearly communicating their priorities. What is important is later in the week the same person makes spending time with their partner a priority. We all prioritize something at the expense of something else, what we must do is work towards some type of balance. Take the time today to look at what your priorities are. Are they coming in the expense of others that are just as important ~ your partner, family, friends, health, dreams? Language can help get us real. Anytime we say "No" to something or "I can't" try replacing it with "It's not a priority". Let's see what happens from there.
