I’m reading slut! Right now and I’m a little confused. Did Magui not come to the family reunion? I was really looking forward to a confrontation or more of the reactions of their family. What does Abuela think about this situation? Or did I miss that somewhere? Sorry if it is in the story and I just missed it. English is not my native language
Heyyy! Honestly, I could’ve sworn I had included those parts, but when I was writing some chapters, they accidentally got published and I deleted them, so I couldn’t get them back. Buuut, if you guys want, I can share chapters 8 and 9 privately, tweak them a little, and also add the chapter about grandma’s party. And don’t worry, English isn’t my first language either. 😊🤍
so scarlet, it was maroon ⸻ max verstappen × fem reader .
max verstappen x singer!fem!reader
summary: when YN YL releases her new album, one song stands out—an unspoken confession wrapped in scarlet and maroon. behind the lyrics lies the memory of a summer love, fleeting yet unforgettable, with a formula 1 driver who left more than just scars. but what happens when Max Verstappen realizes almost an entire record was written about him? were those feelings ever truly gone—or were they only waiting, in silence, to be risked again?
leen's note: This story contains romantic and sexual content, including intimate scenes between characters. It features mild to moderate strong language and occasional depictions of alcohol consumption. Emotional drama, heartbreak, and jealousy are present throughout. The story is a fictional portrayal of real-life celebrities and Formula 1 drivers, and explores themes of fan and media obsession.
Summer break 2022.
It was summer break for the Formula 1 drivers, those rare weeks in the year when they could finally leave behind circuits, strict schedules, and the relentless pressure of competition. For once, they could focus on enjoying the comforts the sport had given them: yachts, endless travel, private parties, and above all, the freedom they so rarely tasted.
For Max, this break was no exception. The moment Charles extended the invitation, he didn’t hesitate to join the plan: a trip with some of the most familiar names on the grid—Charles, Carlos, Lando, Lewis, George, and Oscar. The promise of days without engines or strategies, just laughter, sea, and silence away from the media, was far too tempting to turn down.
Their destination was a private island, a paradise in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by crystal waters and beaches that looked unreal, almost painted. And it wasn’t only for them: actors, singers, models, and other names of the elite had also been invited. Yet here, among so much luxury and anonymity, labels like “driver,” “superstar,” or “idol” seemed to fade. Everyone was there for the same reason—to escape the noise of the world.
The atmosphere promised perfection. By sunset, the warm ocean breeze blended with faint music and distant laughter drifting through the night. For the drivers, it was the first time in a long while they could let go without thinking of training, interviews, or strategies. But what Max didn’t know yet was that these vacations would not be just a pause in his season. This island held unexpected encounters, memories that would paint his days in colors impossible to erase, and scars disguised as songs that, sooner or later, would find their way back to him.
—
YN had decided to take a vacation—not because she truly needed one (though perhaps she did, just a little), but because she needed inspiration. The pressure of a new album weighed heavily on her, and the city, with all its noise and endless demands, felt suffocating. What she craved was a breath of air, a change of scenery, something that might unlock the words and melodies hiding at the edge of her mind.
So when her best friend, Emma, invited her to a private island paradise, she didn’t hesitate for even a second. Sunlight, ocean, freedom—it sounded like exactly what she had been waiting for. What YN couldn’t know, however, was that this trip would change far more than her music. Beyond the beaches and late nights, it would alter the course of her life, leaving her with more than just an album—perhaps with a story written in scarlet and maroon.
—
The fifth night on the island.
The days there felt almost unreal—sunlight pouring like honey over the sand, hours spent swimming until the sea clung to your skin, drinking until laughter blurred into the music, and the kind of heat that didn’t scorch but kissed, like the gentle touch of summer itself. Everything was perfect, suspended in a dream.
That night, like the ones before, the beach was alive with another grand party. Bonfires lit the shoreline, shadows swayed to the rhythm of the music, and the crowd sparkled with celebrities and magnates who blended into anonymity for once.
YN slipped through the noise and laughter, needing a moment of quiet. The bar stood like a small refuge, its counter glowing faintly under strands of hanging lights. She leaned forward, her voice nearly swallowed by the music as she ordered softly, “Gin and tonic, please.”
Only then did she notice she wasn’t alone. A blond man was already there, leaning against the counter with a relaxed posture, a half-empty glass in his hand. He didn’t turn right away, but when the bartender nodded at her order, he glanced sideways.
“Classic choice,” he remarked casually, his accent soft but distinct. “Safe bet on a night like this.”
YN offered the smallest smile, unsure if he was talking to her or just making conversation with the air. “Sometimes simple works,” she replied, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear as the bartender set the drink in front of her.
There was no spark, no instant recognition. Just two strangers pausing at the same bar, sharing a quiet sliver of calm while the rest of the world spun loudly around them.
For Max, it was unusual—he was used to people recognizing him, pushing conversation, trying too hard. But she didn’t seem to know who he was, and that, oddly enough, kept him there a little longer.
And for YN, it was refreshing—someone who didn’t ask, who didn’t pry, who simply existed in the same silence she was craving. Neither of them realized that this small, unremarkable exchange would become the beginning of something far less ordinary.
—
The next morning.
The island woke slowly, the sunlight spilling gently over the waves and the faint hum of cicadas blending with the sea breeze. For both of them, the morning was calm. YN lingered in her villa, notebook open on her lap, the memory of the previous night drifting in and out of her thoughts like the tide. She hadn’t seen him again after the bar, and she hadn’t expected to—but the small exchange still lingered, subtle but present.
Across the island, Max stretched awake in his own villa, the night replaying in his head with surprising clarity. He hadn’t even gotten her name, and yet, the way she had carried herself, the ease in her voice, the way she hadn’t looked at him like Max Verstappen, the driver, but simply as a stranger at a bar—it had stayed with him.
Over breakfast, he mentioned it to Charles, almost casually, though there was an edge to his tone that betrayed more than he intended. Charles only smirked, taking a sip of his coffee.
“Maybe she’s just not interested, mate,” he said with a shrug.
And perhaps that should have been the end of it. But instead, it only fueled Max’s stubbornness. The idea that she might have walked away without a second thought made him want to prove otherwise, to seek her out again—not in the loud chaos of a party, but somewhere quieter, where he might learn her name, her laugh, the way she thought.
It wasn’t about being recognized. It wasn’t about the chase. It was simply that something about her hadn’t let him go.
—
One week later.
Time on the island had begun to slip through their fingers—days melting into nights, laughter into silence. For Max, there were only two weeks left of summer break, though he tried not to think about the countdown. Nights like these made it easy to forget.
Another bonfire lit up the beach, sparks flying into the warm night as music and chatter floated over the waves. For most, it was just another excuse to drink, to celebrate, to blur the hours until sunrise.
But YN had slipped away from the circle of people, wandering just far enough to find the peace she’d been craving. She sat cross-legged in the sand, her guitar resting across her lap, a notebook balanced on her thigh, pen caught between her fingers. Her brows furrowed in thought, lips moving silently as she hummed a melody under her breath, searching for the next line that refused to come.
Max had drifted from the crowd too, the noise of endless stories and half-drunken dares beginning to wear thin. He wasn’t looking for anyone in particular—or at least, that’s what he told himself—but when his gaze caught her in the distance, framed by firelight and ocean, he paused.
She looked nothing like the chaos behind them. Instead, she was quiet, focused, entirely absorbed in her own world. Something about it pulled him in before he could think twice.
He walked closer, his footsteps soft against the sand. For a moment, he wondered if he should say anything at all—if he might break the fragile stillness she had built around herself. But when he reached her, he simply nodded toward the guitar and said, almost gently:
“Didn’t take you for the type to bring work on vacation.”
YN lifted her gaze, caught slightly off guard. Her eyes flicked to him, then back to the notebook, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
“Depends on what you call work,” she replied. “Sometimes this is the only part that feels like freedom.”
And just like that, the silence between them wasn’t heavy anymore. It was alive, waiting for whatever came next.
Max hesitated for a moment, then nodded toward the empty space in the sand beside her. “Mind if I sit?” he asked softly.
YN glanced at the spot, then back at him, and shrugged, a small smile still playing at her lips. “Sure, why not.”
He settled down a few feet away, careful not to crowd her, but close enough that the warmth from the firelight caught them both. For a while, they just watched the flames together, letting the sound of the ocean fill the quiet.
“So… you write songs?” Max asked after a moment, nodding toward her notebook and guitar.
“Yeah,” she replied, strumming a gentle chord that hummed over the fire. “Trying to, anyway. Some nights it flows, some nights… not so much.”
Max nodded, a small laugh escaping him. “I get that. Some days, I feel like I can drive anything perfectly. Other days, it’s like the car has its own mind.”
YN chuckled softly, eyes meeting his for the first time in more than just passing curiosity. “Guess we both have our… tricky instruments.”
They began to trade small stories, casual and easy—her about melodies and lyrics, him about races and tracks, avoiding the spotlight or any real names from their worlds. Yet in the simplicity of the exchange, something started to build—a rhythm between them that wasn’t forced, a sense that neither had expected.
Hours slipped by without notice. The fire dwindled, the music faded, and still, they stayed there on the sand, sharing words, laughter, and those quiet moments where nothing needed to be said.
And somewhere in the space between the notes and the stars, a subtle connection formed—one that neither of them could yet name, but both could feel.
Max leaned back on his hands, glancing at YN with a small grin. “You know,” he said, “you’re way too calm for someone who spends their nights writing songs. I expected more… dramatic flair.”
YN raised an eyebrow, pretending to think. “Dramatic flair, huh? And what exactly does that look like?”
“Melodrama, wild hair, throwing your pen across the room when the perfect lyric won’t come,” he teased, nudging her lightly with his shoulder.
She laughed, the sound soft but bright against the ocean. “I don’t throw pens. Mostly because they’re expensive.”
Max chuckled, leaning a little closer. “Fair enough. But you do seem… focused. Intense, even.”
YN tilted her head, studying him. “And you? You spend your days racing at hundreds of kilometers per hour. I’d say that’s pretty intense too.”
He smirked. “Touché. Guess we both know what it’s like to live with a little… pressure.”
There was a pause, filled only by the faint hiss of the waves. YN strummed a soft chord on her guitar, and Max listened, letting the music fill the space between them.
“You ever just… escape it all?” she asked quietly, eyes on the horizon.
“All the time,” he admitted. “That’s why nights like this are rare. Nights where I don’t have to think about being anyone but… me.”
YN smiled, nodding. “I know that feeling. And sometimes, it’s nice to find someone else who gets it."
Max’s gaze lingered on her, and for a moment the playful teasing faded into something quieter, something that didn’t need words. The ocean, the firelight, the gentle night—all of it seemed to shrink down to the small space they shared on the sand.
Then YN laughed again, breaking the silence, and Max grinned. “See? Dramatic flair.”
The fire had nearly died, leaving only embers glowing softly against the dark sand. The distant laughter of the few remaining partygoers had faded into the night, leaving the ocean’s gentle waves as the only soundtrack.
YN closed her notebook and set her guitar aside, stretching her legs. “I should probably get back,” she murmured, though neither of them moved immediately.
Max tilted his head, eyes on her. “Yeah… I guess.” His voice carried a quiet hesitation, as if he didn’t want to break the spell of the night.
For a moment, they just sat there, the silence comfortable, the stars overhead scattered like tiny sparks of fire. Then Max reached out, almost instinctively, and brushed a strand of hair from her face. YN caught his hand briefly, holding it just a second longer than necessary before letting it fall.
“You know,” Max said softly, “this… tonight? It’s been… good. By the way, I’m Max.”
YN smiled, looking up at him. “YN,” she replied, her voice warm and steady. “Nice to finally know your name.”
Max grinned. “Mind if we… stay in touch? I mean, I don’t usually give my number out to strangers, but…” He laughed softly, holding out his phone.
YN raised an eyebrow, amused. “Is that how you usually meet people?”
“Not really,” he admitted, “but tonight feels… different.”
She laughed, shaking her head, then typed her number into his phone. “Okay, Max. Here. Don’t make me regret this.”
“I’ll try not to,” he said, slipping the phone into his pocket.
They stood, and for a heartbeat neither moved, reluctant to leave the small bubble of calm they’d created. Max offered a faint, teasing smile. “Same time tomorrow?”
YN laughed softly, the sound carrying across the empty beach. “We’ll see.”
As she walked back toward the villas, Max watched her go, the memory of her smile and the quiet confidence in her step lingering like the embers of the fire. Neither spoke of it, but both knew something had shifted—something unspoken, fragile, and entirely theirs.
That night, the ocean held their secret, the stars witnessed a spark, and their numbers on each other’s phones promised that the story was just beginning.
—
After that night by the fire, seeing each other had become almost constant—at any hour, in any moment. YN found herself overflowing with inspiration for her songs, though she refused to admit that some of them were, in fact, about him.
Now, here they were, sprawled on towels in the sand, the soft warmth of the day fading into the colors of the sunset before them. The ocean stretched endlessly, waves glinting in shades of gold and orange, and for a while, neither spoke.
Max let out a soft sigh, breaking the comfortable silence. “I can’t believe there’s only a week left of this.”
YN glanced at him, her fingers tracing patterns in the sand. “Yeah… time flies when you’re distracted.” She didn’t mention that she knew exactly what—or who—was keeping her distracted.
He leaned back on his elbows, eyes on the horizon. “I don’t want to think about leaving yet,” he admitted quietly, almost to himself.
YN smiled faintly, letting the silence wrap around them again. For a few stolen moments, the rest of the world didn’t exist—just the sand, the sea, the sky, and the fragile, unspoken connection that had grown between them.
The sunset deepened, painting everything in hues of scarlet and maroon, as if the universe itself knew that what they had here was fleeting, beautiful, and unforgettable.
—
The last night.
Finally, the day they had both dreaded was approaching. Soon, they would have to return to their own lives. That summer—full of kisses, touches, promises—had been just that: a summer.
YN lay with her head resting on Max’s chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. The warmth of his body beneath hers was comforting, familiar. Max traced lazy, invisible circles across her bare back, each movement tender, memorizing.
For a long moment, neither spoke, letting the silence between them carry the weight of everything they had shared.
“I can’t believe it’s over tomorrow,” Max finally murmured, his voice low, almost lost in the darkness.
YN lifted her gaze to meet his, a faint smile tugging at her lips. “I know… it’s like we’ve been living in a different world. One where nothing else mattered.”
He sighed, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head. “Do you think… any of this matters once we leave? Or was it just… summer?”
YN’s fingers traced the line of his collarbone. “Maybe it was just summer,” she said softly, “but it’s one I’ll never forget.”
Max turned slightly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “I don’t want to forget it,” he admitted, his voice rough with emotion. “Not a second of it.”
YN smiled faintly, leaning in closer. “Neither do I.”
They stayed like that for a while longer, clinging to the warmth and quiet, knowing that tomorrow everything would change—but for now, they had this last night. This last night of laughter, whispers, touches, and promises unspoken.
And though they didn’t say the words out loud, both knew it: what they had shared would linger long after the summer faded, in songs, in memories, and in the invisible circles traced on skin and heart alike.
—
The morning came too soon. Sunlight spilled over the island, warm and bright, but nothing could chase the weight of goodbye. Bags were packed, goodbyes were whispered, and the world outside awaited them both.
YN hugged Max tightly, feeling the last traces of the summer clinging to her skin. “Promise me something,” she whispered.
Max held her close, forehead resting against hers. “Anything.”
“Don’t forget,” she said, voice soft but firm, “don’t forget this summer… don’t forget us.”
He smiled faintly, pressing one last kiss to her temple. “I could never forget,” he replied. “Not even if I tried.”
And then, reluctantly, they parted—Max returning to the roar of the racetrack, YN to the quiet chaos of music and words.
But the summer stayed. In the scarlet and maroon sunsets of their memories, in the melodies that slipped from YN’s pen, in the quiet moments before a race when Max’s mind wandered to a beach, a bonfire, and a girl who had left her mark on him like no one else ever could.
Some things fade. Some things remain. And theirs—though brief—would linger forever, a fleeting love captured in songs, whispers, and the heartbeats of summer.

January 2024.
The new year had arrived with its usual promises—fresh starts, resolutions, the illusion that time could really change everything. YN had thrown herself into her work, writing, recording, surrounding herself with people who made the days feel lighter. She told herself she was moving forward. She told herself summer was just a memory.
Until one quiet morning in January. Coffee in hand, hair still messy from sleep, she scrolled absently through Instagram, half awake, half distracted—until a headline caught her breath.
Her thumb froze on the screen.
Max. Her Max. The boy who’d traced invisible circles on her skin, who’d whispered promises under the stars, who had left her heart both full and aching.
There he was. Smiling. And beside him, Kelly Piquet.

gridtea: Red Bull's reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen, is officially off the market. The F1 superstar has confirmed his high-octane romance with Brazilian model and media personality, Kelly Piquet, daughter of the legendary three-time F1 champion Nelson Piquet. Talk about a powerful racing dynasty.
—
The caption was simple, almost careless, the kind of thing the world saw every day. But to YN, it was anything but ordinary.
Her chest tightened, the air thick in her lungs. It shouldn’t have hurt—not when they’d never promised forever, not when she knew his world was one she couldn’t keep up with. And yet… it did.
Because in her songs, he still existed. In her memories, he was still hers. And now, in front of millions of strangers, he belonged to someone else.
For the first time in months, YN closed her phone, set it face down on the table, and just… sat there. Silent. Wondering if he’d ever think of her, if he’d ever listen to the music she wrote with him stitched into every line.
And maybe, just maybe, wondering if she had only ever been… a summer.
—
March 2024.
Two years had passed since that summer. Two years since the last time YN had seen Max—since the last night, the last kiss, the last unspoken promise. He never called. She never did either. Pride, fear, reality—whatever the reason, silence had built its walls, and neither of them had tried to climb them.
But silence didn’t mean absence. At least not for her.
Because she had written about him. Again and again. Every melody carried his shadow, every lyric stitched with the memory of his touch, the burn of his gaze, the ache of goodbye.
And now, two years later, all those songs had found their place.
An album. Her most personal work yet.
She sat in front of her phone, the final post drafted, ready to announce it to the world. A simple caption, a release date, a title that meant everything to her and nothing to anyone else.
No one would know the truth—that every track was about him, about Max Verstappen.
Not her fans. Not her friends. Not even him.
Her finger hovered over the “share” button, her heart racing as though she were about to confess something forbidden. In a way, she was.
Because this album wasn’t just music.
It was him.
And though the world would never know, part of her wondered if somehow—just somehow—he’d hear it, and recognize himself in the echoes of her voice.

June 20th, Monaco.
The night before her birthday. The night before the world would finally hear The Secret of Us.
YN’s closest friends had insisted on celebrating her properly—not just for turning another year older, but for the release of an album that had cost her sleepless nights, endless drafts, and pieces of her heart. They rented out an exclusive club in the heart of Monaco, its glass walls opening to the sea, its neon lights painting the night in gold and violet.
It wasn’t a massive party, nothing over the top. Just the right amount of sparkle. Enough to feel like a celebration, but still intimate, personal—just as YN liked it.
The guest list shimmered with names that made the room buzz: Taylor Swift, who had flown in to stand by her side on the eve of the release; Sabrina Carpenter, all energy and laughter; Travis Kelce, Benny Blanco, Selena Gomez, and a handful of others who had become her unexpected family in the industry.
Music spilled through the club, glasses clinked, and every so often, someone would pull YN into a hug, a toast, a laugh. She tried to play it cool, but inside she was buzzing, her chest tight with nerves and excitement. Tomorrow, the songs she had written—the secret she had turned into art—would no longer belong just to her.
But tonight? Tonight was hers.

June 21st.
Her birthday. The day The Secret of Us was finally out in the world.
The album dropped at midnight, and within minutes, Twitter was flooded. Fans dissected lyrics, cried over melodies, and traded theories about the stories woven into every track. By morning, hashtags like #TheSecretOfUs, #HappyBirthdayYN, and YN3OUTNOW were trending worldwide.
Clips of songs played on TikTok, edits already being made by fans who had stayed up all night. Every stream, every repost, every comment—it was overwhelming in the best possible way.
YN sat in her apartment in Monaco, sunlight spilling through the windows, her phone buzzing endlessly on the table beside her. Texts from friends, DMs from fans, notifications stacked on top of each other. It was chaos, but beautiful chaos.
She scrolled through Twitter, heart racing as she read the words people were writing about songs that had once lived only in her notebook. Songs that carried pieces of her—pieces she never thought she’d share.
Some called it her most vulnerable work. Others wondered who the album was really about. But the common thread was clear: people were feeling it. The secret wasn’t hers anymore.
And as she sipped her morning coffee, cheeks aching from smiling so much, YN whispered to herself, almost disbelieving:
“This is real.”
—
—
YN scrolled through her phone, still half-asleep, the morning light spilling into her room. Notifications were exploding—tweets, posts, threads, fans dissecting every lyric of The Secret of Us. The album had dropped, and the internet was ablaze.
Her eyes widened as she stumbled across the newest trend: “Maroon is about Max Verstappen.”
“Blowing Smoke confirms it—F1 vibes everywhere.”
“She literally wrote about New York, no shoes… wasn’t Max there that summer?”
YN let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. How were they connecting dots that didn’t exist? Fans were creating elaborate theories about a relationship no one had ever seen, pulling together timelines, lyrics, and coincidences as if they were clues in a mystery.
They didn’t know the half of it. They had no idea about the stolen moments, the laughter by the fire, the nights that had belonged to no one but them. And yet, somehow, strangers were piecing together fragments of her heart she hadn’t even shared.
It was unbelievable, almost magical in a way—frustrating, thrilling, and a little terrifying all at once.
YN set her phone down, pressing her fingers to her forehead. If they only knew…
—
One week later ; Austrian Grand Prix.
The paddock buzzed with the usual energy of the Austrian Grand Prix. Max stood near the garage, casually chatting with Charles, Lando, and Oscar, who were all animatedly discussing something other than the race.
“…and honestly, the album is insane,” Charles was saying. “YN really outdid herself. Every song feels like it’s straight from her diary.”
Oscar nodded eagerly. “Yeah, you can tell she poured her whole heart into it. I’ve been listening nonstop since it dropped. Maroon? Absolute masterpiece.”
Lando laughed. “People are already losing it over some of the lyrics. The fans are making wild theories.”
Max stiffened at the name. YN. The woman who had haunted his thoughts for the past two years, whose memory had refused to fade since that summer on the island. He turned toward them, voice low but curious.
“Wait… YN? You mean her?”
Charles raised an eyebrow, a small grin playing on his lips. “The one and only. Didn’t think you’d have missed this, Max. Her new album just dropped last week—The Secret of Us.”
Max’s heart skipped. “I… I didn’t know she had an album out. I hadn’t heard anything.”
Oscar smirked. “Well, now you know. Honestly, it’s impossible not to get drawn in. She really knows how to tell a story through music.”
Max ran a hand through his hair, his curiosity suddenly sharp. “Stories, huh? And people are already talking about it?”
Lando shrugged. “Yeah, everyone’s picking apart lyrics. Some fans are making guesses about who inspired which songs. Crazy theories, of course—but the whole thing is trending.”
Max’s jaw tightened slightly. “I guess… I should give it a listen. See what she’s been up to all these years.”
Charles smirked knowingly. “Just a warning… you might end up feeling like you’re right there in her songs. It hits differently.”
Max leaned back, a mixture of apprehension and excitement stirring in him. Two years. Two years of memories he’d tucked away—and now, it seemed, YN had shared them with the world.
—
Max’s Hotel Room – Evening, After the Austrian GP
The room was dark except for the soft glow of the city outside. Max sat on the edge of the bed, headphones on, phone in hand. He had started the album casually, expecting nothing more than good music—but the moment Maroon began, something shifted inside him.
"The burgundy on my T-shirt when you splashed your wine into me… The lips I used to call home, so scarlet, it was maroon."
His chest tightened. Every lyric pulled him back to that summer—laughter by the beach, stolen glances under the sun, the quiet intimacy of nights spent talking and dreaming. He could feel her voice wrapping around memories he thought were just his, memories he had buried with time.
The details hit him hard: the careless spills, the warmth of sunlight on her skin, the fleeting touch of her hand. It was uncanny, almost impossible—how had she captured it all so perfectly? Max leaned back, eyes closing, letting the song paint the images vividly in his mind.
Then Blowing Smoke started, and his stomach twisted.
"I cut the rope and you fell from the tower… Are your conversations cool, like are you even interested?"
The anger, the longing, the unspoken frustration in her voice was raw, almost accusing, almost tender. He recognized the words—not just the feelings, but the moments they mirrored: the tension he hadn’t dared to name, the vulnerability she had shown only to him.
Max ran a hand over his face. He realized, painfully, that she had carried him with her all this time, hidden in melodies and verses, letting the world hear pieces of a story only they had lived.
By the final chorus, he was quiet, heart racing, mind spinning. Her voice lingered, and so did the memory of her: the woman who had been a summer, a spark, a storm—and somehow had remained, etched into his chest as clearly as it was in her songs.
For the first time in years, Max let himself feel the weight of it all: nostalgia, longing, and an undeniable pull toward her, stronger than any race, faster than any car.
He pressed replay.

ynupdates: Recently, YN appeared on the Apple Music podcast, where she talked about the love story that inspired most (if not all) of her new album The Secret of Us. Of course, the host asked the question everyone wanted to know: “Is it based on F1 driver Max Verstappen?”
Her words: "I think it’s incredible that people say my album is about Max Verstappen, but no, honestly it has nothing to do with him. I had never even heard of him… or maybe I had, I’m not really a Formula 1 fan, but I can assure you the album isn’t for him. It’s for that summer romance that destroyed me like no other."
What do you all think? We’ll be reading your comments… 👀
swiftieyn: classic YN… denying but leaving us room to speculate
f1ynupdates: Max fans screaming rn 🤯 the internet is chaotic
ynfanthread: “maybe I heard of him but not really” — she’s teasing us on purpose 💀
popculturetalk: stan twitter losing it over Maroon and Blowing Smoke again 😂
f1tea: she’s keeping the mystery alive… that’s why we stan 💜
ynverse: she didn’t confirm, but she didn’t fully deny either… iconic 👀
fan1: still think Maroon is about Max 😭 those lyrics don’t lie
fan2: can we just appreciate how she turned heartbreak into art? pure genius
fan3: waiting for Max’s reaction… imagine him hearing this 😂

Max had watched the interview on his phone, earbuds in, replaying YN’s words over and over.
"I’ve never even heard of him…"
It stung more than he cared to admit. Of course she knew him. Of course they had lived something that no one else could possibly understand. But hearing her erase it, even if only to protect herself, twisted something inside his chest.
He sat back on the hotel bed, scrolling absently through her profile. Her latest posts were flooded with birthday wishes, album celebrations, photos of her smiling with people who seemed to belong to her world now. A world far away from him.
His thumb hovered over the Message button.
What would he even say? “Hey, I saw your interview, remember me?” It sounded pathetic in his head. Still, the urge burned in him. To remind her he existed. To remind her of what they had.
He typed something out. Deleted it. Typed again. Deleted again.
"Do you ever think about that summer?"
No. Too direct.
"I listened to your album."
Better, but still not right.
Max locked his phone, exhaling sharply as he ran a hand through his hair. He wasn’t sure if he had the courage to hit send tonight, but the idea was there—pressing on him, louder with every beat of his heart.
For the first time in years, Max Verstappen was considering sliding into someone’s DMs. And not just anyone’s. Hers.
—
The silence in his hotel room felt deafening. Just the hum of the AC and the muted city sounds outside. Max unlocked his phone again, opened Instagram, and pulled up her profile.
Her smile stared back at him from the screen, glowing, untouchable. For a second, his chest tightened—what if she ignored him? What if she blocked him?
Still, his fingers moved almost on their own.
“Hey, do you remember me?”
Short. Simple. Vulnerable in a way Max Verstappen never allowed himself to be.
He hovered over the send button, jaw clenched, pulse quickening. Then, without giving himself another second to overthink it—he tapped.
Message sent.
For a long moment he just stared at the little checkmark, his heart hammering. There was no taking it back now. All he could do was wait, wondering if somewhere, on the other side of the world, YN would see his name pop up on her screen—and what she would feel when she did.

New York, July 1st — 2:17 a.m.
It had been a week since the album dropped, and YN still couldn’t believe it. The chaos of release day had settled into a quieter kind of frenzy: interviews, magazine covers, late-night shows, and endless messages from people congratulating her. Her songs weren’t just topping charts anymore; they were living in people’s headphones, tattooed across timelines, dissected in threads she sometimes read with a mixture of awe and disbelief.
So that night, after another small celebration with friends—dinner, drinks, laughter spilling into the early hours—she was finally alone in her apartment. Barefoot, hoodie-clad, and curled up on the couch with a half-empty glass of wine, she started scrolling through her phone. Mentions. Headlines. Fan edits. Nothing she hadn’t seen a thousand times already.
Until a new notification blinked at the top of her screen.
Her breath caught.
It had been 2 years. Twoyears since she last saw him, two years since that whirlwind summer she thought she’d locked away in songs no one would ever truly decode. Yet here he was. Not in the form of a rumor or a fan theory, but in her actual DMs. Max.
She stared at the message, her wine forgotten on the table. Part of her wanted to laugh—of course he’d choose now, of all times. When the world was finally hers. When the past felt like nothing more than a ghost stitched into melodies.
But the ghost had just knocked on her door.
Her mind spun. Did she remember him? She remembered too well—the late nights, the stolen moments, the way he’d looked at her like she was more than just a summer fling. And the way it all burned down before it could become something real.
Her thumb hovered over the screen, itching to type back. A dozen possible replies crashed into each other in her head:
"Of course I do."
"Why are you writing to me now?"
"Don’t you already have someone else?"
Or the simplest: nothing at all.
Instead, her body moved on autopilot. She tapped the message, letting the little gray text appear beneath it.
Seen — 2:17 a.m.
Her chest tightened. She locked her phone and set it down, pressing her face into the pillow beside her. He would see it. He would know she’d read it. And he would feel the silence that followed.
The thing was—silence sometimes said more than words ever could.

f1tvgossip: 🚨 BREAKING: Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen has finally broken the silence on his rumored summer romance with singer YN YL.
During a recent interview, when asked directly “Did you and YN ever have something?” Max adjusted his cap and replied: “Uh… let’s say I know her. A few years ago, we were in the same holiday spot and… something happened.”
👀 This seems to confirm that the two indeed had a short-lived romance. But the real question remains: is YN’s new album about him? Guess we’ll have to wait until YN speaks up.
charlesleclercfan44: NOT MAX CONFIRMING IT LIKE THAT 😭😭😭
ynupdates: omg omg omg this literally changes EVERYTHING about the album theories.
oscarpiastriluv: wait… so Maroon was about him???? 😳
verstappen33: he didn’t even deny it… he SAID it. y’all better buckle up.
verstappenarmy33: Max finally admitting it… I’m SHAKING.
ynbabyy: no wonder she said it was a “romance that destroyed her” 😭😭😭
ynbeloved: this is about to be messyyy lmao 🍿
f1girlie: ok but if this is true, literally half the lyrics make so much more sense now…

YN’s phone was blowing up. Notifications, messages, mentions, and tags flooded her screen—thousands of people talking about the interview Max had just given at the British Grand Prix. She couldn’t believe it. He had just… said it. Out loud. Like that.
Not many details, sure, but enough. Enough for the world to know. And now, everyone knew.
YN sat back in her chair, exhaling slowly, trying to calm the sudden rush of adrenaline. She had been in the middle of planning tour logistics anyway, but now everything had changed. The focus had shifted.
If the world was going to be obsessed with Max and this summer romance, she was going to redirect the narrative herself.

September 7th.
A month had passed. The frenzy around YN and Max had begun to calm, though traces of it still lingered in the corners of social media. Fans continued to make edits of them on TikTok, pairing moments with YN’s songs, spinning theories—but now in a quieter, more contemplative way.
One week remained before YN’s tour kicked off, and anticipation buzzed in every post, every comment, every ticket sold. The first stop? New York City. A city that held a fragment of YN and Max’s past—a short, fleeting, yet unforgettable memory.
Max, of course, had bought tickets. He wouldn’t go alone. By his side were Charles, Alexandra (Charles’s girlfriend), Pierre, Kika, George, and Carmen. They joked, they teased, but behind the laughter, Max couldn’t stop thinking about the summer and the songs that had unraveled it all.
For YN, the stage awaited, a place where every note carried years of memories, secrets, and unspoken emotions. And for Max… it was the chance to be in the same room, in the same city, as a past that refused to stay buried.
The countdown had begun.

New York City – First Night of The Secret Of Us Tour
The energy inside the venue was electric. Fans screamed, lights pulsed, and the stage glowed under YN’s presence. She was alive, radiant, every note carrying a piece of her heart.
YN moved across the stage with confidence, waving at fans, smiling, laughing, letting the music take over her completely. But her gaze kept drifting—subtly, almost instinctively—toward the VIP section.
Max sat there, surrounded by Charles, Alexandra, Pierre, Kika, George, and Carmen. They were enjoying the show, cheering, laughing, but Max couldn’t take his eyes off her. Seeing her there, performing songs that had been whispered into his own memories, sent a strange mix of pride and nostalgia through him.
And then came the moment: Maroon.
The soft, melancholic intro filled the room. YN’s voice was gentle, but every word was piercing. She moved slowly across the stage, eyes scanning the crowd, and when she reached the VIP section… they locked. For a heartbeat, the world faded—only she and Max existed.
Fans noticed too. Phones raised, videos started rolling, captions already forming in real time: “She’s singing Maroon and looking straight at Max!!”
Next came Risk, bold and raw, YN channeling every feeling into the performance. Her voice cracked slightly on some notes, and her eyes—still searching—found him again. The crowd erupted, but she barely noticed, lost in the shared, unspoken history between them.
The VIP group cheered, but Max barely heard them. He was absorbed in every lyric, every glance, feeling like for the first time in years, their past and present collided right there, under the bright lights of New York City.
And all around, fans were buzzing—some screaming, some crying, all aware that something electric was happening. YN’s songs weren’t just music anymore. Tonight, they were a conversation, and everyone in the room could feel it.
—
The concert ended with thunderous applause. YN took her final bow, waving at the crowd with a radiant smile that could light up the entire city. Cheers, chants, and applause filled the arena as the lights dimmed, but her heart was still racing, beating in sync with every song she had performed.
Backstage, she exhaled deeply, letting the adrenaline slowly fade. Her team was bustling around, congratulating her, reviewing notes, and celebrating a flawless first night.
“YN,” one of her managers said, smiling, “the fans are going to remember tonight forever. You killed it.”
She nodded, a soft laugh escaping her lips. “I know. But… I want to make tonight even more special. Can we bring Max and his friends backstage?”
Her team exchanged brief glances, surprised but understanding. “Are you sure?” another asked. “After everything…”
YN gave a small shrug, her eyes gleaming. “I’m sure. It’s time.”
Moments later, arrangements were made. Security and assistants guided Max, Charles, Alexandra, Pierre, Kika, George, and Carmen through the corridors. Max’s heart was already racing, anticipation and nerves tangled together. He had been here for her, watching, feeling every lyric, but now… he would finally see her up close again.
As the group approached, YN turned, her gaze finding him immediately. For a moment, the world narrowed, the noise of the crew and the backstage chaos fading. It was just them—two summers ago and now, connected again by music, memory, and a story that refused to stay silent.
—
After everyone had left, YN and Max found themselves alone in her dressing room. The energy shifted immediately—no friends, no entourage, no distractions. Just the two of them, the echoes of the concert still lingering in the air.
YN broke the silence first, her voice low but pointed. “So... you ended things with her.”
Max shifted, rubbing the back of his neck, a small, guilty smile tugging at his lips. “Yeah… we did. It wasn’t easy, but… it had to happen.”
YN leaned against the vanity, crossing her arms, her eyes never leaving his. “Funny timing, isn’t it? Four days before my concert, you suddenly decide to… end it.”
Max’s gaze softened, his voice steady. “It wasn’t about timing, YN. Believe me. I just… I couldn’t wait any longer to be honest—with myself, with you.”
YN’s brow furrowed, a mixture of skepticism and curiosity in her expression. “With me? And yet, you didn’t say a word for two years. You let everyone talk, let them make guesses, while you stayed silent. And now?”
Max stepped closer, the room suddenly feeling smaller, warmer. “Now… I can’t stay silent anymore. Not when I know the truth, not when I know what we had—and still have.”
YN let out a soft laugh, almost incredulous, but her eyes glimmered. “You really think it’s that simple, don’t you? After everything… two years, Max?”
He shook his head slowly, a small smirk forming. “No. Not simple. Never simple. But… it’s real.”
For a moment, the only sound in the room was the faint hum of the city outside and the steady beat of their own hearts.
Max’s gaze lingered on her, a mix of determination and something softer, more vulnerable, in his eyes.
“YN…” he began, his voice low, deliberate. “I know this is sudden, and maybe it’s crazy, but… would you want to go out tonight? Just us, no distractions, no cameras, no one else.”
YN blinked, caught off guard, her heart skipping a beat. “Tonight?” she asked, a hint of a smile tugging at her lips.
“Tonight,” Max confirmed, stepping a little closer, his hand brushing against hers unintentionally. “We have the city at our fingertips, the night is ours. I don’t want to wait any longer.”
YN hesitated for a moment, the weight of the past two years pressing lightly on her chest—but the spark of something she hadn’t felt in forever stirred inside her.
“You’re sure about this?” she asked, a teasing lilt in her voice, though her eyes betrayed her curiosity.
Max nodded, confident. “I’ve never been more sure about anything.”
A small laugh escaped YN, soft but genuine. “Alright… let’s make tonight memorable, then.”
And just like that, the tension eased slightly, replaced by anticipation, and the night stretched before them, full of possibility.

November had arrived, and the whirlwind around them hadn’t really slowed down. Between YN’s first The Secret of Us World Tour concert in New York and the red–circled date on the calendar—November 24th, the Las Vegas Grand Prix—she and Max had slowly begun to break down the wall that had stood between them for the past two years.
They weren’t officially back together—no one could really say that—but it wasn’t a mystery anymore either. Seeing them together wasn’t rare now. Photos of them leaving restaurants late at night, caught side by side in hotel lobbies, or just walking down the streets of New York had made it impossible for people to deny that something was happening.
Fans were still caught between shock and excitement. Some couldn’t believe it, others were rooting for them, and a few kept pointing back to YN’s songs about heartbreak or Max’s interview at Silverstone. The internet lived on theories, edits, and endless debates, while YN and Max seemed more focused on finding common ground again than feeding the noise.
Her tour kept growing, every arena filled to the brim, while Max—despite his demanding season—showed up in more than one city to watch her perform from the shadows of the VIP section. Still, YN hadn’t stepped foot in the paddock. Not yet. Their worlds hadn’t officially collided again in front of cameras, and maybe that was why everything felt like borrowed time—something delicate, unspoken, and private.
But with Las Vegas around the corner, it was only a matter of time before the lines finally crossed.
—
Saturday, November 23rd.
YN was in Nashville, getting ready for another sold-out show. The stadium was already buzzing with fans outside, her team running around backstage, and her own nerves building up before stepping on stage. But her phone kept lighting up with the same name over and over.
Max.
He was in Las Vegas already, less than twenty-four hours away from the Grand Prix. The paddock was alive with energy, drivers giving interviews, the strip shining brighter than ever—and yet, in the middle of all that chaos, he was focused on one thing: convincing YN to come.
“Come on,” his voice pressed through the line, half teasing, half serious. “Just fly in after your concert. It’s not even that far.”
YN let out a soft laugh, shaking her head as she adjusted her in-ears. “Max, I can’t just show up in Las Vegas out of nowhere. Do you realize what that would cause?”
“You mean what it would confirm,” he countered smoothly. “They already think you’ll be here. You might as well.”
She rolled her eyes, though a smile tugged at her lips. “That’s not fair. You’re asking me to walk straight into the paddock. Everyone’s going to lose their minds.”
“Let them,” Max said simply, and his tone was quieter now, more honest. “I want you here. That’s all.”
The words made her pause, her chest tightening. The crowd outside roared in waves, chanting her name, and yet for a moment, the only thing she could hear was him.
“I’ll think about it,” she whispered before hanging up, slipping the phone into her bag. But deep down, she already knew there wasn’t much to think about at all.
—
The arena lights dimmed, and the screams were deafening. A countdown flashed across the giant screens, the floor shaking with thousands of feet stomping in rhythm. Then—suddenly—the first notes of The Secret of Us hit, and YN appeared on stage, glittering under a spotlight, her voice carrying effortlessly over the roar of the crowd.
She danced, she sang, she laughed between songs—it was pure magic. Every chorus was echoed by the audience at full volume, every lyric about love and heartbreak hitting differently for fans who had spent months decoding the stories behind her songs.
Halfway through, YN sat on the edge of the stage, her acoustic guitar resting on her lap. The lights softened to a warm amber glow.
“This next one… it’s about a story I never thought I’d tell out loud,” she confessed into the mic, her voice steady but her eyes glassy. “But sometimes music says it better than I ever could.”
The arena erupted with cheers before quieting down as she began Maroon. Her gaze drifted toward the cameras, but in her head, it was Max she was singing to. Each lyric felt heavier tonight, her voice cracking just slightly at the bridge. Fans recorded feverishly, already posting online: “She’s thinking of him, you can SEE it.”
By the time she closed with Risita, the entire stadium was waving flashlights in the air, swaying in unison. YN smiled, trying to hold back tears as the crowd chanted her name.
“Thank you, Nashville! You’ve filled my heart tonight,” she shouted, her voice breaking with emotion. “I’ll never forget this show—never!”
Confetti exploded, golden and purple, raining over the fans as she bowed one last time. But even as the stage went dark and she disappeared backstage, her mind wasn’t only on the music. It was on the phone call earlier. On Las Vegas. On Max.
—
The show ended with thunderous applause still echoing through the arena. YN rushed backstage, her heart racing, sweat still clinging to her skin from the lights and the energy of the crowd. She barely had time to catch her breath before she turned to her manager.
“I need the jet ready,” she said firmly, still clutching her mic. “Tonight. We’re going to Las Vegas.”
Her manager blinked, surprised, but quickly nodded. “Vegas? Now? Are you sure?”
YN’s chest rose and fell as she tried to steady her breath. The decision had already been made the second she stepped off stage. “Yes. I’m sure.”
Within minutes, her team was on the phone making arrangements. As YN changed out of her glittering stage outfit into something more comfortable for the flight, she felt a rush of adrenaline—not the kind from performing, but from anticipation.
She knew exactly what she was doing. The music, the tour, the fans—they were her life. But tonight? Tonight was about something else.
It was about Max.
And as the car pulled up to take her straight to the private hangar, she couldn’t help but smile to herself. Tomorrow, when the engines roared in Las Vegas, he’d look up and see her there.

November 24th – Las Vegas Grand Prix
YN had arrived in Las Vegas in the early hours, quietly and deliberately. Only her team and the Red Bull staff knew she was coming, and they had secured her a special paddock pass. No one else—no fans, no paparazzi, no drivers—had any idea she was even in the city.
She stepped into the paddock almost silently, her footsteps muted against the polished concrete. The roar of engines and chatter of the team garages filled the space, but she moved through it like a ghost, unseen, unnoticed. Her hoodie still covered her glittering concert outfit from the night before, sunglasses shielding her eyes.
Her heart raced, but she didn’t falter. This was exactly as she wanted it—private, controlled, just her and the world she was about to re-enter.
Max didn’t know yet. And that was exactly how she wanted it.
—
The checkered flag had waved. Max Verstappen had claimed his fourth World Championship, engines roaring, confetti swirling, the paddock alive with celebration. But none of it mattered.
YN was there.
She stepped into view, and the world seemed to tilt. The roar of fans, the flashing cameras, the chaos of the championship—it all disappeared the moment their eyes met.
Without a word, Max crossed the paddock in a heartbeat. The distance closed, and before anyone could blink, he had her in his arms.
The kiss hit like a lightning strike—urgent, desperate, full of everything neither had said in the past two years. It was the weight of every missed moment, every longing glance, every note she had sung about him, all wrapped into one fiery embrace.
YN’s hands clutched at his shoulders, pulling him closer, heart hammering. His hands tangled in her hair and along her back, holding her as if he would never let go.
Cameras flashed, the crowd shouted, but for them, time had stopped. The world narrowed to the heat between them, the taste of lips long missed, and the undeniable pull that had never truly faded.
The kiss finally broke, but their foreheads remained pressed together, breaths mingling, hearts racing in sync.
And in that fleeting, explosive moment, the entire Grand Prix faded into the background, leaving only them.

December – January
After that unforgettable kiss in Las Vegas, nothing was ever the same. The world kept spinning, the races ended, and YN and Max found themselves craving more than fleeting moments. They decided to escape together, leaving behind the glare of cameras, the roar of engines, and the constant buzz of speculation.
By January, they were in Italy, wandering through quaint cobblestone streets and vibrant piazzas. Every day was a mix of quiet intimacy and spontaneous adventure. They shared gelato in the chilly winter sun, argued playfully over directions, and discovered hidden cafes where no one could find them. Each laugh, each touch, each lingering glance reminded them of what they had been missing for the past two years.
Evenings were for quiet walks under the glow of streetlamps, where YN would rest her head on Max’s shoulder and he would wrap an arm around her waist, shielding her from the cold—and from the world. Nights were for whispers and shared secrets, the kind that made the rest of the world disappear entirely.
Then came one night, a night that would change everything again. Max led her to a small, secluded restaurant perched on a terrace overlooking the sparkling city lights. The gentle flicker of candlelight danced across the table, casting a warm glow over YN’s face. The soft murmur of conversation from other tables was distant and unimportant. Here, they had each other—and that was enough.
Max reached into his coat pocket, his fingers brushing against something small and solid. He took a deep breath and pulled out a tiny velvet box. YN’s eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat.
He opened it to reveal a delicate promise ring, elegant and simple, yet packed with unspoken words. His voice was low, trembling slightly, heavy with everything he had kept inside for so long.
“I’ve been holding this back for too long… I can’t keep pretending anymore. I want us—officially. Just us. Only us,” he said, eyes searching hers for any hesitation.
Tears pricked the corners of YN’s eyes as a wide smile spread across her face. She reached across the table, taking his hand in hers, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath her fingers.
“Yes,” she whispered, her voice trembling but certain. “Yes, Max. Only us.”
He slipped the ring onto her finger, and for a moment, they just sat there, taking in the weight of the moment, the beauty of the city around them, and the certainty of what they finally had. A soft laughter bubbled between them, tears mingling with smiles, and they realized that this—right here, right now—was exactly where they were meant to be.
That night, under the Italian sky, the lights of the city shimmering below, YN and Max weren’t just a summer romance anymore. They weren’t just whispers in songs or fleeting glances at Grand Prix paddocks. They were together, officially, fully, and undeniably.
It was a beginning, but it felt like home.

December 28th, 2024 / Melbourne, Australia.
YN had just landed a few minutes ago, the golden light of the late afternoon spilling through the tall glass windows of the airport. The long flight had left her shoulders heavy, but excitement made it impossible to feel tired. The moment her shoes touched the polished floor, she’d called Oscar—just a quick “I’m here”—and he’d told her he was already on his way. Hearing his voice again, even for a few seconds, made her pulse race faster than she’d admit.
Now she sat in the waiting area, suitcase by her side, surrounded by the hum of travelers coming and going. Outside, she could see the warm haze of the sun dipping lower, casting the whole city in that soft, golden-hour glow. Families were reuniting all around her, hugging tightly, laughter filling the air—and each moment only reminded her that soon, she’d see him too.
She opened her phone, thumb hesitating before pulling up her chat with Alexandra. If I don’t write to her, I’ll go insane, she thought. She wanted to tell her everything: the butterflies in her stomach, the nervous tapping of her foot, the strange comfort of knowing Oscar was already on his way.
She typed, erased, and typed again, struggling to pin down her racing thoughts. It wasn’t just the reunion—though that was overwhelming enough—it was everything unsaid between them, all the things that had been hanging in the air since their last goodbye. And now, there was no hiding behind distance or time zones.
—
—
Just minutes after finishing her conversation with Alexandra, YN’s phone buzzed.
A new message lit up the screen:
Oscar: I’m outside.
Her heart skipped a beat. She swallowed hard, gripped the handle of her suitcase, and began walking toward the exit of the airport. Every step seemed heavier than the last, her nerves buzzing with anticipation.
And then, she saw him.
Oscar stood just a few meters away, leaning casually against his car, but there was nothing casual about the way he was looking at her. His smile wasn’t the polite one he wore for cameras or interviews—it was the rare, genuine one, the one reserved only for her. In his hands, he held a small bouquet of soft pink tulips—her favorite.
The moment her eyes landed on him, the world seemed to blur around them. Without even thinking, YN let go of her suitcase and rushed straight into his arms, wrapping herself around him like a koala clinging to its tree.
He laughed softly, holding her just as tightly, his chin resting against her hair.
“I missed you,” he murmured, voice low and warm.
YN squeezed him even harder, as if trying to make up for every second they had spent apart.
“I missed you too… more than you know.”
They stayed like that for a long moment, arms locked around each other, almost afraid to let go. YN buried her face against his shoulder, breathing him in—the familiar scent that made her feel both safe and alive at the same time.
When they finally pulled back just a little, Oscar looked at her with that same smile, eyes sparkling like he couldn’t believe she was really there.
“You’re actually here,” he whispered, almost like he was afraid if he said it too loudly she might disappear.
YN laughed softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “Well… you invited me, didn’t you? I wasn’t going to say no to pink tulips and that smile.”
He chuckled, a faint blush creeping onto his cheeks. “I didn’t know if you’d come… but I hoped.”
For a second, their eyes lingered, heavy with all the words they hadn’t said for weeks. YN’s chest fluttered, and she reached out, touching his arm lightly. “I told you I’d be here, Osc. I meant it.”
Oscar’s grin widened, and with a gentle shake of his head—like he was still in disbelief—he grabbed her suitcase with one hand and laced his fingers through hers with the other. “Come on, let’s get you out of here.”
Hand in hand, they walked toward his car. He opened the door for her, still smiling in that soft, almost boyish way that made her heart ache, then rounded the hood and slid into the driver’s seat.
As the engine came to life and they pulled out of the airport, YN leaned back against the seat, sneaking a sideways glance at him. Oscar’s hand rested comfortably on the wheel, but every so often, he glanced at her too, his lips curving like he couldn’t stop himself.
“Ready to meet my family?” he asked with a teasing note, though his voice carried the same nerves as hers.
YN laughed, though her stomach fluttered again. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
And with that, the city lights of Melbourne stretched out before them as Oscar drove her toward his home.
—
The drive felt endless. Traffic crawled along the roads of Melbourne, giving YN plenty of time for her nerves to build with every passing minute. She sat quietly, watching the city blur past the window, her heart hammering harder the closer they got to Oscar’s house. Oscar kept sneaking little glances at her, his thumb brushing against her hand now and then, as if he knew she needed the reassurance.
Finally, after what felt like hours, the car slowed and turned into a quiet street. YN’s breath caught when she saw the Piastri residence glowing warmly in the late evening, festive lights twinkling softly along the edges of the roof.
Oscar parked and immediately stepped out, hurrying around the car. He opened her door with an almost old-fashioned elegance, reaching for her hand. “Come on,” he said with that boyish smile that managed to calm her racing thoughts just a little.
She slid out of the car, holding his hand tightly, and tried to ignore the way her legs felt like jelly. Oscar grabbed her suitcase from the trunk with ease, then gave her another reassuring smile. “Ready?” he asked quietly.
YN swallowed hard and nodded. “I think so.”
The front door opened before they even rang the bell. Hattie, Mae, and Edie came rushing out, practically buzzing with excitement.
“YN!” Hattie squealed, running forward and throwing her arms around her. The sudden hug caught YN off guard, but she couldn’t help but laugh, hugging back tightly.
Mae followed, wrapping her arms around both YN and Oscar, grinning. “We’ve heard so much about you,” she said. “Finally, you’re here!”
Edie joined in with a warm, enthusiastic squeeze. “Oscar wouldn’t stop talking about you,” she whispered, cheeks pink.
YN felt her chest warm, her nerves unraveling a little with every hug.
Nicole and Chris stood just behind them, watching the scene with wide smiles. Nicole stepped forward, graceful yet warm, and opened her arms. “Come here, darling,” she said, pulling YN into a gentle, motherly hug.
Chris followed with a polite but heartfelt handshake, his eyes crinkling with kindness. “Welcome to our home. We’re very happy you’re here.”
Oscar, standing off to the side with her suitcase in hand, just watched it all with a quiet grin—the grin of someone who’d been waiting for this moment for a very long time.
And for the first time since stepping off the plane, YN felt like maybe, just maybe, she really belonged here.
—
A couple of hours had passed since YN arrived in Melbourne, and night had fully settled over the city. After dinner, Nicole sat beside YN, flipping through a small photo album.
“Look at this one,” Nicole said, pointing to a picture of a tiny Oscar, barely able to walk, grinning at the camera.
Oscar groaned from the couch nearby, burying his face in his hands. “Do you have to show everyone these?” he complained, his cheeks flushing red.
Hattie, Mae, and Edie snickered behind him, teasing mercilessly. “Oh, come on, Oscar! You were adorable!”
YN couldn’t help but laugh softly, her eyes warm as she studied the pictures. “He really was,” she murmured, her fingers brushing over the edges of the photos with care.
Nicole smiled, leaning closer to whisper a story. “And do you see this one? When he was little, he used to pretend he was a car. He’d crawl around the living room, making engine noises, insisting everyone call him ‘Speedy Piastri.’”
YN chuckled, looking up at Oscar. “Speedy Piastri, huh?” she teased gently.
Oscar huffed, pretending to be annoyed but clearly amused. “I told you, that was my best racing technique back then!”
YN shook her head, laughing quietly, her heart full. She looked at him with something tender in her gaze, the kind of quiet admiration that comes from watching someone grow up into the person you care about.
Even as his sisters continued teasing him, YN felt completely at ease, enveloped in the warmth of the family—and of Oscar, sitting not far away, clearly enjoying her presence despite his mock complaints.
—
Finally, it was almost midnight, and everyone was beginning to say their goodnights, heading off to their rooms. The house had settled into a soft, comfortable quiet, the laughter and chatter replaced by the gentle hum of night.
YN was about to step into her guest room when Oscar’s voice stopped her.
“Hey,” he said, his tone playful but soft. “Tomorrow, you have to wake up early.”
YN turned to him, raising an eyebrow. “Early? Why?”
He grinned, that familiar sparkle in his eyes. “I want to take you around Melbourne. Show you all my favorite spots. You can’t sleep in—it’s part of your first adventure here.”
YN felt her heart flutter. Despite the nerves and the months of distance, hearing him say that made everything feel lighter. “Alright,” she whispered with a small smile. “I’ll try.”
Oscar stepped closer, lowering his voice just enough so only she could hear. “You better. I don’t want to show anyone else my city before you see it first.”
YN laughed softly, shaking her head, a mix of amusement and affection warming her chest. “Deal,” she replied, and finally stepped into her room, closing the door behind her.
She leaned against the door for a moment, smiling to herself, imagining the day ahead with Oscar—Melbourne, his family, and the feeling that, maybe, she was exactly where she was supposed to be.

December 29 / Melbourne, Australia
YN and Oscar left the house early in the morning, the crisp air of Melbourne waking them as they stepped outside. Oscar had planned the day carefully—he wanted YN to see the city, but also to experience some of the little things that made it special for him.
Their first stop was a charming café tucked into a quiet street, sunlight streaming through the windows. The smell of freshly baked pastries and strong coffee filled the air. They ordered breakfast, sitting close together, laughing over small stories and inside jokes, feeling the ease that had been slowly rebuilding between them.
After breakfast, Oscar led YN to a wildlife sanctuary on the outskirts of the city. “I thought you’d never get to see them,” he said with a grin, opening the gate.
YN’s eyes widened as she saw the koalas perched lazily in the trees and kangaroos grazing nearby. “I… I thought this was impossible!” she whispered, stepping closer to the fence. “I never thought I’d actually get to see them up close.”
Oscar chuckled, watching her eyes light up. “Nothing’s impossible when you’ve got the right guide,” he teased, gesturing proudly at himself.
YN laughed, the sound bright and carefree, as a curious kangaroo hopped closer, sniffing the air. She reached out hesitantly, and Oscar gently guided her hand, showing her how to touch the soft fur. The day felt like a dream—simple, joyful, and shared with someone who mattered more than she had realized.
—
After a morning filled with koalas, kangaroos, and laughter, Oscar and YN headed back into the heart of Melbourne. The city streets buzzed with life—tram bells ringing, people chatting over coffees at outdoor tables, and the sun casting a golden glow over the buildings.
“Alright, next stop,” Oscar announced with a grin, glancing at YN. “You’re going to see my favorite spots. The ones that really make this city feel like home.”
YN smiled, adjusting her sunglasses. “Lead the way, tour guide.”
They wandered through the laneways filled with colorful street art, stopping every so often for photos. YN laughed as Oscar dramatically posed beside murals, pretending to be part of the art. She nudged him playfully, and he caught her hand instinctively, holding it a moment longer than necessary.
“See something you like?” he teased, watching her eyes light up.
“Everything,” she admitted softly, glancing at him. The warmth in his smile made her chest flutter, a reminder of everything they had missed during their time apart.
By late afternoon, they reached the riverfront. The water reflected the sun’s golden rays, and the city’s skyline shimmered in the distance. Oscar pulled her close as they leaned against the railing, pointing out buildings and sharing little stories about his childhood in Melbourne.
“You know,” YN said, her voice quiet, “I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed this… or you.”
Oscar’s grip on her hand tightened slightly. “I’ve missed you too,” he said, voice low. “More than I thought I could.”
YN laughed softly, shaking her head. “You make it impossible to be serious around you.”
He grinned, leaning his forehead gently against hers. “Maybe I like it that way,” he whispered.
For a long moment, they just stood there, the sounds of the city around them fading into the background. It was just the two of them, reconnecting, rebuilding, and realizing that despite the distance, the silence, and the months apart, they still fit together perfectly.
As the sun began to set, Oscar suggested grabbing a casual dinner nearby before heading home. YN nodded, feeling lighter than she had in months, grateful for the day, for him, and for the chance to start over in a city that now felt like theirs.
—
As evening settled over Melbourne, Oscar led YN to a cozy riverside restaurant. The warm glow of lanterns and the soft chatter of diners created an inviting atmosphere. They were seated at a small table with a view of the shimmering river, the city lights reflecting off the water like tiny stars.
The waiter brought menus, but neither of them seemed particularly focused on the food. Oscar reached across the table, brushing YN’s hand with his. “I’m glad you came,” he said quietly, his eyes searching hers.
YN smiled softly, her fingers intertwining with his. “Me too,” she whispered. “I was nervous, but… being here with you feels right.”
They ordered, but conversation flowed easily—stories, jokes, little confessions. Oscar teased her about how she had carefully navigated the koala enclosure earlier, and YN laughed, reminding him of how he had faked fear when a kangaroo came too close.
At one point, Oscar leaned back, eyes warm. “I missed this,” he admitted. “Not just you… everything. Being able to just… be.”
YN felt her chest tighten with emotion. “Me too,” she said, her voice quiet but sincere. “I’ve missed us, even if we weren’t really ‘us’ for a while.”
A comfortable silence fell over them as they gazed out at the river. Then, as dessert arrived, Oscar reached for her hand again, holding it firmly. “I know we still have things to figure out,” he said, voice low. “But right now, I just want this. You and me, tonight.”
YN nodded, smiling, feeling a warmth she hadn’t felt in months. “Tonight is perfect,” she whispered.
After finishing their meal, Oscar paid the bill, and they walked slowly back to the car. The city lights twinkled around them, and for the first time in a long while, everything felt simple, safe, and theirs.
He drove them home, hands steady on the wheel, occasionally brushing against hers. When they finally arrived at the Piastri residence, neither of them was ready to let the night end. But they both knew that tomorrow, and the days ahead, would bring more moments like this—moments to rebuild, reconnect, and remember why they had always mattered to each other.

December 30.
The day before New Year’s Eve, YN spent the entire day with Edie, Mae, Hattie, and Nicole. From the very moment they suggested taking her out, it was clear that they had one mission: to get to know her better. YN laughed as they playfully “kidnapped” her from Oscar, who had been hoping to spend the whole day at her side.
Their morning began at a charming little café tucked into a quiet street, sunlight spilling over tables and warm pastries filling the air. Nicole insisted on ordering a few of Oscar’s favorite childhood treats, sharing little stories about him as a kid that had YN laughing more than once. Hattie and Mae were relentless with questions about YN’s life in Mexico—what she liked to eat, her favorite places, and even how she handled racing fans and media attention.
“You’re way braver than I ever could be,” Edie said as they wandered down a laneway covered in colorful street art. “I could never handle being in the spotlight like that!”
YN smiled, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face. “It’s not always easy, but you get used to it.”
The sisters then insisted on showing her some of Oscar’s favorite spots in Melbourne, from little boutique shops to the quiet corners of parks where he used to play as a kid. Every now and then, YN’s phone would buzz—messages from Oscar, playful teasing or checking in—and each time the sisters would giggle. “Oh no, don’t answer him!” Mae whispered, and Edie rolled her eyes. “Today’s about us,” she said with a grin.
YN couldn’t help but laugh. It was strange, yet comforting, to feel so welcomed by Oscar’s family. They didn’t just want to know her—they genuinely cared about her, about what made her happy, and what brought her comfort.
By the afternoon, they found themselves at a quiet park, watching the sun glint off the river. The sisters encouraged YN to join in their silly games and playful races, teasing Oscar via text about how much fun they were having with “their” girl. YN felt a warmth in her chest, realizing how much she had missed this kind of family energy—the ease, the laughter, the feeling of being included.
Even though Oscar wasn’t physically there, she could feel his presence in every message, every teasing remark, and every small concern he sent her way. It was a strange mix of missing him and feeling comforted, knowing he was thinking about her just as much as she was thinking about him.
As the day drew to a close, they returned to the Piastri residence, a little tired, a little sun-kissed, but full of laughter and joy. YN hugged each of them, feeling more a part of the family than she had ever expected. And in the back of her mind, she knew that tomorrow, she would finally get to spend a full day with Oscar again—just in time for New Year’s celebrations. The anticipation made her stomach flutter, and a small, happy smile lingered on her face as she went to bed that night.

December 31 / New Year’s Eve – Melbourne, Australia
The last day of the year had finally arrived. The Piastri household buzzed with excitement and anticipation for the evening ahead. Decorations glimmered in the living room, fairy lights twinkling softly, and the smell of Nicole’s carefully prepared dinner filled the air. YN had spent the day helping with small tasks, laughing and chatting with Hattie, Mae, Edie, and Nicole, and by now, she felt completely at ease in the family home.
Oscar, for his part, tried to stay busy helping with last-minute preparations, but every now and then, his eyes would find YN across the room. Even amid the cheerful chaos, he couldn’t help the way his heart tightened seeing her smile, laughing with his sisters. He wanted to hold her, to never let go—but tonight, he reminded himself, they would share the evening in the comfort of family first.
As dinner began, the family gathered around the table, clinking glasses and exchanging playful toasts. YN sat beside Oscar, feeling a warmth in her chest as he reached over to brush a stray hair from her face. She caught his hand under the table, their fingers intertwining discreetly, and he squeezed gently, a silent reminder that they were both still there for each other.
After the meal, they moved to the living room where laughter and music filled the air. The sisters were teasing Oscar mercilessly, and YN couldn’t stop laughing along with them. At one point, Edie pulled YN aside, whispering, “You two really need to have a moment tonight. Don’t let him escape.” YN laughed nervously, knowing the advice was well-intentioned—and entirely accurate.
—
A couple of minutes before midnight, Oscar couldn’t stay still. His heart raced, palms sweaty, as he finally gathered the courage to approach her.
“Do you want to get some fresh air?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, yet betraying his nerves. She nodded, a soft smile tugging at her lips, and together they excused themselves from the family, stepping out onto the terrace.
The cool night air wrapped around them, carrying a faint scent of the city below. They stood side by side, neither speaking, each caught in the other’s presence, hearts pounding in tandem. The distant hum of Melbourne seemed to fade, leaving only the soft rustle of the breeze and the rapid rhythm of their own hearts.
Finally, Oscar broke the silence, his voice low and hesitant. “I… I need to talk to you, YN. But I don’t even know how to start.”
She turned to him, meeting his gaze, feeling the warmth radiating from his body. “You know you can tell me anything, Osc,” she whispered gently, her voice like a soft anchor grounding him.
He swallowed hard, stepping a fraction closer, his hands trembling slightly. “Honestly… I like you. More than I ever expected. Even when I first met you, when you were with Lando, I was… captivated. I always felt you were so much more than he deserved. And I never said anything… but after you two broke up… I won’t lie. Maybe I did take advantage of that. And… even though I’ve loved being your best friend, YN… I don’t want to be just your best friend anymore.”
YN felt a rush of emotions—surprise, relief, warmth—all colliding at once. She searched his eyes, seeing sincerity, vulnerability, and something she had always known was there but never heard aloud.
“Osc…” she murmured, her voice trembling. “I… I feel the same. I’ve been trying to hide it, trying to be careful… but I can’t anymore. I’ve missed you, more than I realized. I don’t want to pretend, not anymore. I want… us.”
A gentle, almost imperceptible smile curved his lips, relief flooding his features. Slowly, carefully, he reached for her hands, intertwining their fingers. The contact was electric, sending shivers up their spines. “Then… let’s start the new year together,” he murmured, leaning closer, voice thick with emotion.
YN laughed softly, a mixture of joy and tears, and tilted her head up toward him. “Yes… together,” she whispered, feeling her chest swell with the overwhelming warmth of finally being understood, finally being with him.
Oscar’s free hand lifted to cup her cheek, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear, his thumb grazing her skin softly. “I’ve imagined this moment so many times,” he confessed, his forehead leaning to rest against hers. “I never wanted to wait another year to tell you… to show you how much I care.”
Her eyes glistened with tears she didn’t care to hide. “I know,” she breathed. “And I’ve felt the same… every single day. I just… didn’t know how to tell you without scaring you away.”
He chuckled softly, leaning in until their lips met in a tender, searching kiss. It started slow, sweet, hesitant, as if savoring every second they had lost. Then, as if pulled by a force they couldn’t resist, the kiss deepened, more passionate yet careful, grounding them in the moment and in each other.
Fireworks suddenly erupted in the distance, brilliant bursts of color scattering across the Melbourne skyline, reflecting in their eyes. They pulled back slightly, foreheads resting together, hearts racing in sync.
“Happy New Year, Osc,” YN whispered, her voice trembling with a mixture of relief, joy, and love.
“Happy New Year, YN,” he replied, his arms tightening around her, holding her close as the fireworks painted the sky above them in vibrant hues. The world seemed to fade, leaving only the two of them, the night, and the sense that everything had finally fallen into place.
Minutes passed, filled with quiet laughter, soft whispers, and gentle touches, neither willing to break the magic of the moment. For the first time in a long while, the past, the silence, and the distance felt miles away. Only the beginning of something new, something real, and a love that had finally found its voice.
—
Eventually, they reluctantly pulled away from the terrace, still holding hands as they walked back toward the house. The night air was crisp, but YN felt a warmth she hadn’t known she’d been missing, wrapped in Oscar’s presence.
As they approached the sliding doors, laughter erupted from inside—the sound of Hattie, Mae, and Edie giggling uncontrollably. YN’s cheeks flushed as Oscar gave a sheepish grin.
“I think we have some witnesses,” he whispered, his thumb brushing along her hand.
The sisters peeked at them through the window, whispering excitedly to each other. “Finally! About time!” Hattie mouthed silently. Mae clapped her hands, and Edie jumped up and down, unable to contain her excitement.
YN laughed softly, hiding her face in Oscar’s shoulder. “You girls are impossible,” she teased, but her heart was light, happy, and fluttering.
Oscar opened the door, and the family was immediately aware of the electricity in the air. Nicole’s eyes sparkled knowingly, while Chris raised a brow, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Looks like you two had a little… moment out there,” Nicole said warmly, her tone teasing but filled with affection.
YN blushed but smiled, squeezing Oscar’s hand. “We were just… enjoying the night,” she said, keeping it casual, though everyone clearly knew better.
The family gathered them inside, wrapping YN in warm hugs and laughter. Hattie, Mae, and Edie were relentless in their teasing, making playful comments about how Oscar had finally “admitted it” and how long they’d been waiting for this. YN couldn’t help laughing, her nerves melting into pure happiness.
Nicole guided YN to a cozy spot on the couch. “I’m so happy you’re here, YN. We’ve heard so much about you, and it’s so nice to finally meet you properly.”
YN smiled, feeling accepted, cherished, and part of something bigger than just the romance. “Thank you. I’m really happy to be here,” she said softly, glancing at Oscar, who gave her a small, loving smile that made her heart skip.
Oscar sat down beside her, wrapping an arm gently around her shoulders, pulling her close. The sisters exchanged sly smiles, knowing full well that the two of them were inseparable tonight. Laughter, conversation, and the cozy warmth of family filled the room, but YN and Oscar found themselves stealing quiet glances and subtle touches, each moment a reminder that they had found each other again.
The night continued with playful teasing from the sisters, stories from Nicole and Chris, and small, tender moments between YN and Oscar. Every laugh, every glance, every brush of hands was a quiet promise: they were together now, and nothing—distance, misunderstandings, or fear—would take that away.

January 1 / Melbourne, Australia
The morning sun bathed the city in a warm, golden glow. After a cozy breakfast filled with laughter and playful teasing from Hattie, Mae, and Edie, Nicole suggested that everyone head to the beach to start the new year off with some fresh air and fun. YN smiled, feeling completely at ease with Oscar’s family—it was the perfect way to begin 2025.
Oscar held YN’s hand as they walked down the sandy path toward the shore, the sisters chatting animatedly around them. “Careful, Osc,” Hattie teased, “don’t scare her with your big Aussie waves!”
YN laughed, her toes sinking into the soft sand. She glanced at Oscar, who was grinning from ear to ear, clearly happy to share this simple, joyful moment with her. “It’s beautiful here,” she said, letting go of his hand briefly to run toward the water, splashing her feet as small waves lapped at the shore.
Oscar followed, scooping her up suddenly and spinning her around, laughing. “Hey! Careful!” YN giggled, her hair wet from the playful splash, but she didn’t resist. She was too happy, too content, to care about anything else in the world.
The family set up blankets and umbrellas, and soon they were all building sandcastles, playing frisbee, and even attempting a bit of a beach volleyball game. Laughter filled the air, and YN felt a deep sense of belonging she hadn’t realized she had been craving.
Hattie, Mae, and Edie kept stealing playful glances at YN and Oscar, exchanging silent looks and teasing whispers. “Finally, they’re actually together,” Edie said, nudging Mae. Mae grinned, replying, “About time!”
YN glanced at Oscar, her heart swelling. He caught her eye and winked, a small, private smile that made her cheeks flush. “I can’t believe how lucky I am,” she murmured, leaning into him slightly.
Oscar squeezed her hand gently, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. “Me too, YN. Me too,” he replied, and for a moment, the beach, the laughter, and the sun seemed to fade away. There was only them, the start of a new year, and the promise of everything to come.
As the afternoon wore on, they all collapsed onto the blankets, tired but happy, watching the sun slowly climb higher, the sparkling waves mirroring the warmth in YN’s heart. The day was simple, joyful, and perfect—a quiet celebration of family, love, and new beginnings.

The rumors didn’t take long to start circulating, but YN and Oscar were determined to keep the little privacy they still had. They agreed on a soft launch for now, at least for a few more weeks, keeping their relationship mostly to themselves while still enjoying every moment together.
Australia was buzzing with whispers—fans noticed their posts, subtle interactions, and occasional sightings with the Piastri family. But YN and Oscar smiled at each other privately, sharing inside jokes and stolen glances, knowing that the world outside would have to wait before they made their love fully public.
Even with the attention building, they focused on the small, meaningful moments: morning coffees on the balcony, playful teasing with Oscar’s sisters, and quiet walks along the beach. Every shared laugh, every gentle touch, was a reminder that some things—like the start of their year together—were theirs alone to savor.

The house was quiet, wrapped in the stillness of the night. The only sound was the faint crash of the waves in the distance, a steady rhythm that should’ve lulled her to sleep hours ago. But YN was wide awake, tossing and turning in her bed at the family’s beach house in Mexico.
At some point, she gave up on sleep and reached for her phone on the nightstand, only to see the notification glowing on the lock screen. The name that appeared made her chest tighten instantly.
Oscar.
Her heart skipped. For a second she thought she was imagining it, but no—his name was right there, undeniable.
With trembling fingers, she opened the message.
Nothing dramatic, nothing heavy. But to her, they felt like the ground had shifted beneath her.
It was 4 AM, the kind of hour where every feeling was amplified, where silence made thoughts louder. The dim blue light of her phone lit up her face as she read the words again and again, her throat tightening.
She sat up in bed, hugging her knees, staring at the message as though the screen could somehow explain why he chose now, why after weeks of silence he reached out.
Her chest ached. She wanted to answer. She wanted to pretend none of the silence, none of the distance, had ever existed. But her pride, her pain, all the unresolved weight between them—everything kept her frozen.
From across the hallway, she heard her little brother stir in his room, probably just turning over in his sleep. He’d been watching her closely these past few days, noticing the way she drifted off mid-conversation, the way she smiled less. If he saw her now, phone in hand at 4 AM with tears brimming in her eyes, he would’ve known instantly.
YN let out a shaky breath and set her phone face down on the bed. She pressed her palms against her eyes, trying to will the ache away, but his words lingered in her head like an echo she couldn’t silence.
I needed to say hi.
Sleep was impossible now.
...
She tossed and turned across the room, pacing, sitting on the edge of the bed, lying back down, standing again—her thoughts chasing themselves in endless circles. Would it be a mistake to answer him? Would it only open a door she wasn’t ready to walk through?
But ignoring him felt impossible.
Finally, with a shaky breath, she unlocked her phone one more time. Her thumbs moved slower this time, deliberate, careful. No confessions, no raw feelings—just something neutral, safe.
“Hey, all good, thanks. Hope the same for you :)"
She stared at the message for a long moment, her finger hovering over the send button. Her chest felt tight, her heart hammering as if it already knew this tiny line of text would change everything.
And then—she hit send.
The screen went blank again. No reply yet. Just silence.
But YN exhaled, sinking back into the mattress, phone resting on her chest. It wasn’t much, not compared to what she wanted to say, but it was something.
For the first time in weeks, she felt like she had exhaled a little piece of the weight pressing on her chest.
—
Oscar was sprawled on the couch in his Melbourne home, the hum of the TV filling the quiet evening. It was around 8 p.m., but his mind wasn’t on the movie playing in front of him—it was on whether YN would ever answer.
His phone buzzed once.
He froze.
When he finally gathered the courage to look, her name lit up the screen. He blinked, not believing it at first. Then he read:
A small, shaky laugh escaped his chest, one hand running through his hair as he leaned back against the cushions. Relief washed over him, warm and heavy, like someone had lifted a stone from his chest. She answered. She actually answered.
It wasn’t much—it wasn’t them—but it was something. A bridge, however small.
His thumb hovered over the keyboard, itching to type, to say more, to tell her everything he’d been holding in. But he forced himself to stop. Don’t push. Don’t scare her away.
So instead, he just sat there with the faintest smile tugging at his lips, phone still in his hand, replaying her message in his head like a song stuck on repeat.
For the first time in weeks, the silence didn’t feel unbearable.

December 17th.
YN had finally made up her mind. After countless sleepless nights, long talks with her pillow, and the weight of her own doubts pressing against her chest, she decided. Melbourne. She would go.
Her fingers hovered over her phone screen for what felt like forever. Every word she typed seemed too much, or not enough. Finally, she settled on something simple, honest—something that didn’t betray just how much her heart was racing.
She pressed send.
She locked her phone and placed it on her nightstand, burying her face in her hands. But the moment she heard the notification sound echo through the room, her chest tightened. He had seen it. He had answered.
YN smiled, small but genuine, and for the first time in weeks, the thought of what was coming didn’t terrify her—it gave her hope.
—
Oscar was in the living room, the house quiet except for the faint hum of the heater. His parents were in the kitchen, chatting softly, and his sisters were upstairs. He had been scrolling aimlessly on his phone, trying to distract himself from counting the days without YN.
Then, the notification popped up. His heart jumped.
He froze. Slowly, a grin spread across his face, disbelief and relief colliding in his chest. His thumb hovered over the screen for a moment, reading the message again.
He leaned back against the couch, laughing quietly to himself, shaking his head. “Finally,” he muttered, almost to no one. “Finally.”
His family peeked in, noticing the glow on his face. “Everything okay?” his mom asked.
“Yeah,” he said, still grinning. “Better than okay.”
For the first time in weeks, the weight of the silence between them felt a little lighter. Hope had returned, and for once, it didn’t hurt—it promised something good.
—
December 24th.
As incredible as it seemed, YN and Oscar had somehow managed to mend things—at least enough to move forward, even if not completely. They both agreed that the real conversation would happen in person, once she was in Melbourne. For now, that could wait.
YN was fully immersed in the last moments with her family before Christmas. The house was alive with laughter and music, carols playing loudly from the speakers as everyone sang along without caring about hitting the wrong notes. Children ran through the expansive backyard of her grandmother’s house, their shouts and giggles echoing under the bright afternoon sun.
She smiled, her heart warm despite everything. There was magic in the chaos, in the noise, in the smell of pine and cookies and the sound of her little brother’s laughter. For a moment, she let herself forget about the distance, the tension, and the conversations that awaited her in Melbourne.
It was just her family, the holiday spirit, and the quiet, lingering hope that soon, she and Oscar would close the miles between them, face to face.
—
Even though it was well past midnight in Melbourne, Oscar couldn’t stop thinking about YN. He knew they were in different time zones, but when his watch ticked over to 12 a.m. in Mexico—Christmas had just begun—he didn’t hesitate for a second.
He dialed her number, heart racing. When she finally answered, her sleepy “Hello?” made him grin despite himself.
“Merry Christmas, YN,” he said softly, trying to bridge the miles between them.
“Merry Christmas, Oscar,” she replied, voice warm but groggy.
“How’s it feel just as Christmas is starting there?” he asked.
“Quiet… peaceful. Everyone’s still settling in,” she said. “And you?”
“Too quiet here,” he admitted. “I wish you were here with me.”
YN’s voice softened. “I wish I was too. It feels strange… talking like this, at midnight.”
“It doesn’t feel strange to me,” he said earnestly. “It feels right. Hearing your voice right now.”
A pause. A shared breath over the line.
“I… I missed you, Oscar,” YN whispered.
“I missed you too, more than I can say,” he replied immediately. “I want to be there with you, not just over the phone.”
“Me too,” she said, a sigh in her voice. “I wish things didn’t have to be so complicated.”
“They’re complicated, yeah,” he admitted, “but that doesn’t change how I feel. I want you. I want us.”
YN’s chest tightened. “I want us too… so much.”
“Promise me something?” Oscar’s voice was soft but intense.
“What?”
“Promise me that no matter the distance, we don’t let this… us… slip away again.”
YN’s smile was audible through the phone. “I promise.”
Then she heard movement in the house—footsteps, muffled voices. Her heart ached with the thought of leaving the call, but she had to.
“I… I have to go.” she said reluctantly.
“Okay… I understand,” he said, though the disappointment was clear. “Just… know I love you, YN. And I’ll be waiting.”
“I love you too, Oscar. Happy Christmas,” she whispered, pressing the phone briefly to her cheek before hanging up.
Oscar stared at the blank screen for a long moment, a small, satisfied smile spreading across his face despite the longing in his chest. She said it. She said she loved him. And that was enough for now.

YN’s phone buzzed on the coffee table, and her chest tightened. Oscar. She hesitated, thumb hovering over the screen. Finally, she swiped.
“Hello,” she whispered, trying to steady her voice.
“YN,” Oscar said, low and deliberate, every word carged with focus. “I heard about Lando… what happened? Why was he outside your apartment?”
She hugged herself tighter. “He… came to yell. To fight. He thinks… that I’ve moved on, that I’m using you, or something. He’s jealous, Oscar."
“Jealous,” he repeated, voice edged with intensity. “And you?”
“I…” She struggled to speak, voice trembling. “I can’t… I can’t drag you into this. You’re too good for it. Too good for me.”
There was a pause. Then, controlled, intense: “YN… you don’t get to decide that. Not for me.”
“I do,” she said, firm but breaking inside. “I care about you too much to let you get hurt. Not with all this… what everyone’s saying about me. Maybe… maybe some of it is true. Maybe I really am… like that.”
“No,” he said, low and unwavering. “I know you. I’ve seen you. I know the real you, YN. Not what everyone else says. That doesn’t matter to me.”
Her throat tightened. The pull of wanting to reach for him was immediate, magnetic, almost unbearable. “That’s why I… I have to step back. For a while. I can’t—” she swallowed hard—“I can’t let you get tangled in my mess. And maybe… maybe it’s safer if we just pretend we’re friends, even though we both know we’re not.”
“Friends?” His voice was sharp now, electric. “YN… we’re not friends. You know it, and I know it. And pretending won’t change that. You feel it, and I feel it.”
“I know,” she whispered, closing her eyes, tears threatening. “And that’s why it hurts. Because I can’t give you what you deserve. Not yet. Not me. I… I don’t deserve you.”
“YN…” His voice softened, but every word still carried weight and fire. “I don’t care about deserving. I care about you. And I’m not stepping back. Not really. Not if it means losing you, even for a moment.”
She bit her lip, heart racing, every part of her wanting to reach for him, to let herself fall into the warmth and intensity of his voice. But she shook her head, forcing herself to step back. “I… I need distance. I can’t… I can’t do this with you right now. I need time. I need to fix myself before I can let you in.”
A long silence stretched between them. It was heavy, charged with longing, unspoken desire, and the pull of everything they couldn’t have—for now.
Finally, he spoke, calm, unwavering: “YN… I’ll wait. Always. Distance or not, I see you. I know you. Nothing you do or say changes that.”
She exhaled slowly, setting the phone down. The ache in her chest was unbearable, torn between the magnetic pull toward him and the need to protect him from her chaos. For now, they had to be apart—but the tension, the desire, the unspoken connection lingered, electric and alive, even in the silence.

November 22nd, 2024.
It had been more than two weeks since YN and Oscar had last spoken—two long weeks since the moment she set boundaries she didn’t even want to set. The silence between them felt heavier with each passing day, like an invisible weight pressing down on her chest.
Now, she was back in Mexico, the country where she had grown up. The familiar streets, the warmth of the people, and the comfort of her grandmother’s home should have brought her peace. Instead, her thoughts wandered relentlessly back to him—Oscar, his voice, his smile, the way he looked at her as if she were the only person in the world.
She was there for her grandmother’s party, just two days away, a celebration everyone in her family had been preparing for. But there was a bitter detail she couldn’t ignore: Magui would also be attending. The thought of running into her was enough to stir unease in YN’s stomach. At least she could take some small comfort in knowing Magui would arrive alone; the timing worked in YN’s favor, since the party fell on the exact same day as the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Still, the idea of facing her stirred old memories, old insecurities—things YN thought she had left behind. And yet, none of it compared to the ache of missing Oscar. She tried to distract herself with family, with preparations, with the bustle of being home, but at night, when the house grew quiet, she found herself staring at the ceiling, wondering if he thought of her too.

November 24th, 2024. Grandma’s Party and the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The long-awaited day had finally arrived. The house was alive with music, laughter, and the scent of traditional dishes drifting from the kitchen. The family had dressed for the occasion in full celebration of their heritage—women in vibrant floral dresses, skirts swaying as they moved, while the men wore crisp guayaberas and light cotton trousers. It might have looked like a stereotype to some, but for YN’s grandmother, it was a living tribute to the Mexico she so dearly loved.
The festivities had begun early in the morning. The grandchildren strung papel picado banners and colorful ribbons across the patio, while the daughters and sons of the family worked tirelessly in the kitchen, preparing every recipe their mother adored. By the time the sun had set, the celebration was in full swing. Music poured from the speakers, family members toasted with glasses of tequila and mezcal, and the birthday matriarch, dressed elegantly in a deep red embroidered dress, radiated joy as she greeted each guest.
YN smiled as she watched her grandmother’s happiness fill the room. For a moment, everything felt light—like she could push aside the heaviness she had carried for weeks. She even allowed herself to laugh with her cousins, to dance a little, to let the comfort of home soothe her.
But her smile faltered the moment a familiar family arrived.
Magui’s family.
The warmth in YN’s chest instantly cooled. She froze where she stood, her glass halfway to her lips, as her eyes locked onto the sight of Magui stepping gracefully across the patio. Dressed beautifully, of course, Magui moved with the same poise that had always made YN feel small in comparison. And there she was—walking directly to YN’s grandmother with a radiant smile, leaning in to hug her, offering birthday wishes with all the ease in the world.
YN’s stomach tightened, her lips pressing into a thin line. Around her, the party carried on, music still blaring, laughter spilling into the night—but all she could see was Magui’s smile and the way her grandmother returned it so warmly.
The celebration had only just begun, yet for YN, it suddenly felt suffocating.
—
Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The streets of Las Vegas buzzed with energy. Neon lights reflected off the sleek F1 cars lined up in the paddock, the sound of engines revving carried across the strip, mixing with the chaos of tourists and music. Everyone seemed electrified—everyone except Oscar.
Sitting in the drivers’ room before heading out, he leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees, helmet still untouched beside him. His leg bounced with restless energy, not from nerves about the race—he trusted the car, trusted his training—but from something heavier, harder to shake off.
It had been more than two weeks since he had last spoken to her. Two weeks since she had set boundaries that he hated but tried to respect. And though he’d thrown himself into training, into simulator laps and engineering briefings, nothing quite dulled the sharp edge of missing her.
Voices of mechanics and engineers floated in and out of the room, but Oscar barely registered them. His mind wandered back to Mexico. He knew she was there; he could almost picture her, surrounded by family, smiling in the way he hadn’t seen in too long. He wondered if she was thinking of him, even for a second, the way he couldn’t stop thinking of her.
“Five minutes, Oscar.” His engineer’s voice snapped him back.
He nodded, grabbed the helmet, and pressed it against his chest for a moment before slipping it on. The noise of the outside world dulled instantly, leaving only the sound of his own breathing.
He walked toward the grid, every step deliberate, every muscle awake. On the surface, he was the calm, focused driver McLaren needed. Inside, though, it was chaos. He wasn’t just about to race twenty other drivers—he was racing his own thoughts, his own feelings.
And as he tightened his gloves and slid into the car, one truth stayed with him, sharp as ever: no matter how fast he went tonight, there was one thing he couldn’t outrun—her absence.
—
The party was alive with mariachi music, laughter echoing around the garden lit with fairy lights. Cousins danced, uncles raised tequila shots, and the abuela sat like a queen at the center of it all, soaking up the celebration.
But YN couldn’t feel any of it. She sat off to the side, mojito in hand, staring blankly into the crowd. Every time her eyes accidentally landed on Magui—smiling, hugging relatives, pretending she belonged there—YN’s chest tightened. Nobody else knew what had happened. Nobody knew what Magui had said, what she had done. And now here she was, acting as if nothing had ever happened.
“¿Otra vez pensando en ella?”
YN blinked, her eyes snapping toward Mike, who slid into the chair beside her with a plate of tacos in one hand and a teasing smirk on his face.
“Mike…” she sighed, lowering her glass. “Don’t start.”
He raised his brows. “I don’t need to start, you already look like you’re ready to kill someone. You’ve been staring holes into Magui’s back all night.”
YN looked away quickly, pressing her lips together. “I just don’t get how she can walk in here like… like nothing. Like she didn’t—” she cut herself off, her voice cracking slightly.
Mike’s teasing faded instantly. He leaned forward, his tone serious. “Like she didn’t hurt you.”
YN swallowed, her throat tight. “Exactly.”
There was a pause, filled with the noise of laughter and clinking glasses around them, but for YN, the world felt much smaller.
Mike finally shook his head, setting his plate down. “Look, hermana, I don’t care if nobody else knows. I do. And I’m not letting her ruin this night for you.”
YN gave him a small, sad smile. “That’s sweet, Mike, but you can’t fix this. It’s between her and me.”
Mike smirked again, mischief in his eyes. “Oh, I wasn’t planning on fixing it. But I can make her uncomfortable enough to leave.”
YN laughed despite herself, nudging his arm. “Don’t you dare cause a scene. Abuela will kill us both.”
“Fine,” he muttered, glancing toward Magui across the garden. “But if she even looks at you wrong, I’m going full big-brother mode even if I am the younger brother."
YN’s chest warmed at his words, even if the knot of unease inside her didn’t go away. For a second, she allowed herself to relax—until she noticed Magui staring directly at her from across the dance floor, a faint, knowing smile tugging at her lips.
YN’s hand tightened around her glass. The night was only beginning, and something told her the real storm hadn’t even started yet.
—
The party had slowly shifted into a more intimate gathering. The neighbors, friends, and distant acquaintances had left, leaving only family behind. Long tables had been pulled together, covered in colorful tablecloths and surrounded by glasses of wine, empty plates, and the hum of quiet conversations. The abuela sat at the head of the table, glowing with pride, her eyes flicking fondly over each grandchild.
Everything felt warm, comfortable—until her voice rang out, shattering the peace.
“YN, mi niña… how is your boyfriend, Lando?”
The silence that followed was deafening. Forks froze mid-air, glasses hovered halfway to lips. Every pair of eyes landed on YN, who shifted uncomfortably in her seat, her fingers tightening around the mojito glass in her hand.
Clearing her throat, she forced herself to answer, though her voice wavered. “Abuela… Lando and I broke up a couple of months ago.”
A few gasps rippled across the table. Abuela’s brows knitted together in confusion. “Qué? Why? He seemed like such a nice boy.”
Before YN could respond, Mike leaned back in his chair, his jaw clenched, and muttered loud enough for everyone to hear: “Let’s just say family isn’t always as loyal as it should be.”
YN’s eyes widened, and she kicked him under the table. “Mike!” she hissed.
Her mother frowned immediately, her voice sharp. “Mike, what is that supposed to mean?”
The tension was unbearable. YN swallowed hard, every instinct screaming to keep quiet, but she was done hiding. She set her glass down with a soft clink and lifted her chin, her eyes flicking—just for a second—toward Magui.
“Lando and I broke up,” YN said slowly, her voice steadier now, “because he cheated on me. With no one else but… Magui.”
The words hung in the air like smoke. The entire table seemed to freeze, all eyes snapping toward Magui at once.
Magui stiffened, her fake smile faltering as her cheeks flushed crimson under the heavy stares. For the first time that night, she looked cornered.
“YN—” she started, her voice defensive, but Mike slammed his palm down on the table, cutting her off.
“Don’t. Don’t even try to defend yourself.” His glare could have burned a hole straight through her.
The abuela’s hand went to her chest, her face pale with shock. “Magui… is this true?”
The night that had begun with laughter and dancing now sat on the edge of an explosion, the entire family waiting for Magui’s answer.
Magui’s face burned under the weight of the stares. She fidgeted with her napkin, her voice shaky but laced with fake confidence.
“Look, it wasn’t like that—YN is exaggerating. Lando and I… it was a mistake, a stupid mistake. It didn’t mean anything.”
“Didn’t mean anything?” YN repeated, her voice cutting sharp through the silence. She leaned forward, her eyes narrowing at Magui. “You kissed my boyfriend, and you’re trying to call that a mistake?”
The table erupted with murmurs, some gasps, some whispers. Abuela’s eyes welled with tears, her voice trembling. “Magui… how could you? In my house, with your cousin sitting here?”
“Because she’s selfish,” Mike snapped, unable to hold back. “She’s always been jealous of YN. We all knew it, but none of us thought she’d go this far.”
Magui’s jaw clenched, her defensive mask cracking. “Jealous? Don’t be ridiculous. Lando was the one who—”
“Don’t you dare try to put this on him,” YN interrupted, her voice rising with every word. “He was wrong, yes, but you… you’re supposed to be family. Family doesn’t stab you in the back like that.”
The silence after her words was deafening.
Their mother placed her hands on the table, her expression torn between disappointment and anger. “Magui, do you realize what you’ve done? Do you realize the kind of damage you caused to this family?”
Magui’s lips parted, but no words came. Her eyes darted to the floor, avoiding every single stare.
Meanwhile, Abuela shook her head slowly, her voice low but firm. “I raised you better than this. Both of you—Lando is not family, but you are. And you betrayed blood.”
Magui’s composure cracked, her eyes glassy as the weight of everyone’s judgment pressed down on her.
YN took a breath, her heart pounding in her chest, but she held Magui’s gaze until Magui finally looked away. For the first time all night, YN felt the power shift.
Abuela’s hand slammed gently but firmly on the table, making everyone jump. Her eyes, usually soft and warm, were blazing now, her voice carrying the authority of generations.
“Magui, listen to me well,” she said, her tone sharp. “In this family, loyalty means everything. And what you did to YN… mi niña… is unforgivable. She brought you into her life, trusted you, and you repay her by going after her boyfriend?”
Magui’s face twisted, her lips trembling. “Abuela, I—”
“No excuses!” Abuela snapped, silencing her instantly. “You don’t betray family. Not ever. If you had problems with envy, with jealousy, you should have spoken, not destroyed trust like this. You embarrassed yourself, and worse—you hurt YN, who has never done anything but love this family with her whole heart.”
Mike leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, his smirk almost victorious. “Finally, someone said it.”
Valentina, one of the cousins, nodded in agreement, glaring at Magui. “YN’s always been there for everyone. She’s the one helping, supporting, smiling even when she’s hurting. And you—” her voice dripped with disdain, “you decide to stab her in the back? Shame on you, Magui.”
Guadalupe, YN’s mom, reached over to hold her daughter’s hand. “YN, you didn’t deserve any of this,” she said softly but loud enough for everyone to hear. “You’ve been nothing but kind, and I’m proud of how strong you are.”
Abuela’s gaze returned to Magui, her disappointment heavier than any anger. “You need to think very carefully about the kind of woman you want to be. Because right now, what I see is someone who has lost her way. And until you can take responsibility, you will carry this shame with you.”
The table was silent again, but this time, the silence was suffocating—for Magui alone.
YN squeezed her mother’s hand and straightened in her chair. For once, she didn’t feel small. For once, she wasn’t the one shrinking under judgment. The family’s eyes were on her now—but with love, with support, with defense.
Magui looked around desperately, but no one spoke for her. Not this time.
The silence was suffocating, heavy with judgment pressing down on Magui. Her hands clenched on the edge of the table, her chest rising and falling fast. And then—she snapped.
“You all act like she’s some perfect little angel,” Magui spat, her voice trembling with rage. “But she’s not! YN’s not innocent. She pretends, she manipulates—”
“Careful,” Mike growled, leaning forward in his chair.
Magui’s eyes burned as they locked on YN. “You stole everything from me. Everyone in this family loves you more, respects you more. You think you’re better than me, don’t you?”
YN’s chair scraped loudly as she stood, her mojito glass still in her hand. Her voice was steady, though her hands shook. “I don’t think I’m better than anyone, Magui. But I will not apologize for people loving me when all I’ve ever done is be genuine.”
Magui shoved her chair back so hard it nearly toppled. “You’re a liar!” she screamed, lunging across the table.
Gasps erupted as plates rattled, silverware clattering to the floor. Magui grabbed at YN’s arm, and instinctively, YN shoved her back.
“Stop it right now!” Guadalupe's voice rang out, but neither of them listened.
Magui swung, her fingers tangling in YN’s hair. YN yelped and pushed her cousin hard, sending them both stumbling against a chair. Mike and Valentina jumped up immediately, grabbing at Magui’s arms.
“Get off her!” Mike barked, yanking Magui back.
YN, breathing hard, tried to steady herself, her hair messy, her glass shattered on the floor.
Abuela stood, her voice thundering like a whip. “¡BASTA!”
Everyone froze.
“This is disgraceful!” Abuela’s eyes were wide with fury, her finger stabbing the air at Magui. “You dare lay a hand on your cousin, in my house, on the night of my celebration? You bring violence to my table?”
Magui tried to protest, her chest heaving, “She—she pushed me first—”
“No,” Abuela cut her off, her voice shaking with authority. “You attacked first. You crossed the line tonight. You have disrespected me, your family, and most of all, YN.”
The entire family remained standing, circling the chaos like witnesses to a crime. YN’s mom wrapped an arm around her daughter protectively, while Mike kept a firm hold on Magui, who was still struggling.
“From this moment,” Abuela declared, her voice heavy, “you will not speak ill of YN again. If you cannot control yourself, then you are not welcome here.”
Magui froze, her eyes wide, realizing the weight of those words.
YN, still shaken, finally spoke, her voice breaking slightly. “I never wanted this… but I won’t let you treat me like garbage anymore.”
The room was silent again—this time, with no hope left for Magui.
Magui’s face twisted with anger and humiliation. She struggled against Mike’s grip, yanking her arms free.
“You’ll regret this!” she screamed, her voice echoing through the house. “I can’t believe all of you are taking her side! This isn’t over!”
YN took a deep breath, standing tall, her chest still heaving from the fight. “It is over, Magui. At least for me.”
With a final glare that could have burned holes through walls, Magui stormed toward the door, slamming it behind her with such force that the walls rattled. Everyone flinched at the sound.
The house fell into a tense silence. The abuela stepped closer to YN, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Are you okay, mi niña?” she asked softly.
YN nodded, a small smile forming despite the adrenaline. “I am… thanks to you and Mike. I couldn’t have faced her alone.”
Abuela’s stern eyes softened. “You’ve shown strength tonight, mi niña. Never forget—you have family behind you who love you, and that girl will learn the hard way.”
Mike nudged her lightly, grinning. “See? Told you. She can’t touch you when I’m around.”
YN laughed softly, wiping a tear from her cheek. “Thanks… it really means a lot.”
The tension slowly lifted, and for the first time that night, YN felt the warmth of her family surrounding her—stronger than any fear or conflict.
—
When night finally fell and YN retreated to her room, she couldn’t hold back the tears. She sank onto the edge of the bed, clutching her pillow, feeling a mix of emotions crashing over her. Despite everything, she didn’t feel anger toward Magui—she couldn’t bring herself to hate her cousin. Instead, there was a heavy weight of guilt pressing on her chest, a strange sense of responsibility for the chaos that had unfolded at the family gathering.
Her tears came freely, hot and unrelenting. Part of her cried for the betrayal she had endured, the shock of seeing the person she once trusted so deeply act so selfishly. Another part cried for the tension she had felt in her family, the way she had had to defend herself in front of everyone she loved.
But most of all, YN cried because she missed Oscar. The thought of him, miles away in Australia, lingering in her mind like a quiet ache, made her heart tighten with longing. She hadn’t seen him in weeks, and now, after all that had happened, the distance felt unbearable. She wished she could reach out, feel his arms around her, hear his voice whispering reassurance that everything would be okay.
Sobbing softly into the pillow, YN let herself feel everything—the pain, the frustration, the longing, and the helplessness.

MESSAGES BETWEEN OSCAR AND HATTIE.
—
MESSAGES BETWEEN YN AND ALEXANDRA.
—
It was obvious-the distance between YN and Oscar. Both were suffering in the silence that had grown between them, but pride held them back, keeping them from reaching out, even though the desire to hear each other's voice, to feel each other's presence, was almost unbearable.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was just around the corner. Oscar was supposed to have his focus entirely on the track, on the team, on the championship-but the truth was, his mind kept drifting back to YN. The thoughts of her smile, her laugh, the way she could make even the most chaotic moments feel calm, kept spinning in his head, uninvited and relentless.
Now, he was here, standing in the paddock before the first practice sessions, leaning slightly against the wall of the McLaren garage. Charles was beside him, talking strategy and the usual pre-race routines, but Oscar's attention was only half on the conversation. His eyes scanned the paddock absentmindedly, noting every familiar face, every couple walking together-reminders of what he wasn't allowed to have tonight.
"You okay, mate?" Charles asked, nudging him lightly.
Oscar blinked, forcing a smile. "Yeah... yeah, just... thinking."
Charles raised an eyebrow but let it slide. He knew when to push and when to let it go. He didn't need to know what, exactly, was haunting Oscar's thoughts.
Oscar clenched his fists subtly, trying to shake it off. He had to focus. He had to. The car, the team, the championship-they demanded his full attention. And yet, with every passing second, the weight of not knowing YN's thoughts, of not feeling her near him, pressed harder.
He exhaled slowly, leaning back against the wall. The engines roared in the distance as mechanics moved busily, but the noise faded into the background. For Oscar, the only sound that mattered-the only thing he truly wanted-was the quiet certainty of YN's presence beside him.
He knew they were both too proud to make the first move, both too stubborn to admit how much they ached. But the heart has its ways, and Oscar felt it now more than ever: he couldn't ignore it, couldn't push it aside. YN was in his mind, in every thought, and every eve moment spent here without her only made the distance feel heavier.
He shook his head, trying to focus on the track ahead, but the truth lingered stubbornly, unavoidable: no championship, no podium, no victory could replace what he wanted most-her.

YN was in Mexico, in the place where she had grown up, surrounded by the familiar warmth of family and the rhythm of the streets she had always known. She was supposed to be on vacation, enjoying time with her family, looking for ways to relax and distract herself. But the conversation with Alexandra from a couple of days ago wouldn't leave her mind. Every word, every question, every gentle push from her friend kept replaying in her thoughts, like a quiet echo she couldn't escape.
Her younger brother, Mike, noticed. He always did. He noticed the tight line of her jaw, the way her eyes wandered off when she thought no one was looking, the faint tension in her shoulders. He didn't need words to understand that something was bothering her-he could feel it, almost as if it had seeped into the room with her.
"Hey... are you okay?" Mike asked softly, breaking her reverie.
YN forced a small smile, glancing at him. "Yeah... I'm fine, Mike. Just... thinking about some stuff."
Mike tilted his head, unconvinced. "You're always 'thinking about stuff' when you're upset. Come on, YN. I can tell. What's going on?"
She sighed, looking down at her hands. "It's... complicated."
Mike sat beside her, his presence steady and grounding. "I know. But you can tell me. You always do."
YN hesitated. Part of her wanted to push him away, to shield him from the chaos she was feeling inside. But Mike had always been the one person who could see through her walls. "It's just... someone I care about," she admitted softly, almost to herself. "We're... distant. And it's killing me a little every day, but we're both too stubborn to say anything."
Mike's eyebrows knit together. "You mean Oscar, don't you?"
YN nodded, biting her lip. "Yeah... it's him. And I know he's thinking about me too, but... we're not talking. Not really. And it's just..." Her voice trailed off, a mix of frustration and longing.
Mike reached over, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "YN... you two aren't kids. If you both feel it, maybe you should... I don't know... say something? Do something?"
"I can't," she whispered, the weight of it pressing down on her chest. "Not right now. I don't want to mess things up for him. He's... he's too good for me. I don't deserve him at the moment."
Mike frowned, his voice soft but insistent. "YN... stop thinking like that. You know he cares about you, right? You're not hurting him by being honest about how you feel, or by trying. He can handle it."
"I know he can," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I... I just need some time to figure things out. To not drag him into whatever mess I'm in."
Mike nodded, understanding more than he could say. "Alright... but promise me one thing."
"What?" YN asked, glancing at him.
"Don't shut him out completely. Don't leave him wondering. You two... you're too connected for silence to be the answer."
YN took a deep breath, letting the sunlight of the Mexican afternoon wash over her. She squeezed Mike's hand, a small smile breaking through the tension. "I promise... I'll try. But it's hard, Mike. So hard."
Mike gave a small grin, playful but supportive. "I know. But you're stronger than you think. And he's worth it. Don't forget that."
YN leaned back, letting herself feel the comfort of family, the grounding presence of her brother, and the quiet ache of someone far away. She closed her eyes, knowing that even across oceans, even with all the distance and pride, her heart was still tangled with his.

The races were over-no more Grands Prix for Oscar or any F1 driver, at least for a couple of months. Oscar arrived in Melbourne, where he would spend all of December with his family. The air was crisp, the city quiet compared to the chaos of the circuits, and for the first time in months, he could finally breathe.
When he got home, his mom, dad, and sisters greeted him warmly. Hugs, laughter, questions about the season, the car, the podiums-it was comforting, familiar. For a moment, he let himself relax, let himself feel normal again, away from the cameras, the fans, and the endless noise of the paddock.
But, as always, some conversations were inevitable. Over dinner, Nicole brought up the subject delicately, a spark of curiosity in her eyes. "So... when are we finally going to meet YN properly?" she asked.
Oscar froze slightly, his fork paused mid-air. "Uh... I don't know. I guess... maybe sometime," he replied cautiously, aware of the weight the question carried.
Nicole leaned in, persistent but gentle. "Come on, Oscar. I want to know the girl who's caught your attention. Not just some name or someone connected to Lando. You've been... different lately. Happier, distracted in that way that only someone special can make you."
His heart skipped, and he looked down, half-smiling, half-nervous. "Mom... I... we don't talk anymore," he confessed quietly, the words heavy in the warm room. "YN... we haven't spoken in a while. And I... I don't know when or if we will. Things are... complicated."
Nicole's expression softened, concern mixed with understanding. She reached over, placing a hand on his arm. "Oscar... I get it. I know how much she means to you. But you can't let pride or fear keep you from her, not if she's important to you."
Oscar exhaled, shoulders slumping slightly. "I know, Mom. I just... I don't want to mess things up. I don't want to drag her into anything messv. She's... too important for that."
Chris chimed in gently, "Sometimes the people we care about the most are the ones worth the risk. You've got to decide what matters more: pride or honesty."
His sisters nodded, encouraging without judgment.
"Yeah, Oscar. We can tell she's special to you. Don't overthink it too much-just... be real with her when the time comes." Hattie spoke.
Oscar let the words settle over him, feeling the warmth and grounding presence of his family. Even here, in the safety of home, YN lingered in his thoughts, a pull he couldn't ignore. The silence between them was heavy, and he knew it was time to face it sooner or later.
After dinner, Oscar excused himself and headed up to his room. The warmth and laughter of the house lingered in his ears, but the quiet of his bedroom enveloped him like a shadow. He closed the door behind him and leaned against it for a moment, letting out a slow, steadying breath.
The conversation with his mom, dad, and his sisters replayed in his mind. Their words were kind, grounding, and yet they only highlighted the ache he couldn't shake. YN. Her name felt heavy on his chest, a pull he couldn't deny. The distance between them had grown too long, the silence too loud. He didn't know how long he could hold back, how long he could ignore it.
He sat on the edge of his bed, fingers running through his hair. The house was quiet now, the faint sounds of Melbourne outside his window a distant hum. He reached for his phone, scrolling through his contacts until he found her name. His thumb hovered over it, hesitation clawing at him-but the urge to reach out won over.
He opened a new message. His fingers trembled slightly, unsure how to start, unsure if she would even respond. But he couldn't stop himself.
He stared at the screen for a moment, heart pounding, then hit send. The tiny vibration that confirmed it was delivered felt like a lifeline, fragile but real.
Oscar leaned back against the headboard, staring at the ceiling. He didn't know what would come next. He didn't know if she would reply, or if this would change anything at all. But for the first time in weeks, he had reached out. He had broken a silence that had been eating at him from the inside.
And even if the response didn't come, even if it came late or hesitant, at least he had tried. At least he had taken the first step toward closing the distance that had grown too wide between them.

I’m not sure yet. The story will change a little, but anyway, I hope you enjoy it 🤍

The Mexican Grand Prix had finally arrived, and YN would have given anything to be there with Oscar. But this time, she couldn’t. Filming commitments for The Last of Us kept her miles away, stuck between sets and scripts, far from the chaos of the paddock. Still, not a day passed without her finding a way to send him a little encouragement—funny memes, late-night texts, or even public posts wishing him luck.
A couple of hours before the race, Oscar slipped away from the noise, hunting for a quiet corner where he could breathe. The paddock was buzzing—journalists everywhere, mechanics rushing back and forth, fans chanting his name—but he only wanted one thing: to see her face before stepping into the car.
Finally, he found a chair near one of the hospitality areas, pulled out his phone, and hit call.
The screen lit up, and the second YN’s smile appeared, Oscar couldn’t help but grin like an idiot. She was in her trailer, hair tied up in a messy bun, wearing an oversized T-shirt, looking both tired and impossibly beautiful.
“There you are,” he said softly, like he had been looking for her all day. “I needed to see you before the race.”
YN raised an eyebrow, teasing. “So I’m your lucky charm now?”
“Maybe,” he shrugged, a small smirk tugging at his lips. “Seems to be working.”
She laughed quietly. “Well, don’t let me distract you too much. I wouldn’t want to be the reason you miss a corner.”
“Impossible,” he said instantly, shaking his head. “You’re a distraction I don’t mind having.”
Her cheeks warmed at the comment, but she hid it with a playful bite to her lip. “Alright, smooth talker… How are you feeling? Nervous?”
Oscar hesitated for a moment before admitting, "A little. Mexico is a big one. I just… I want to do well.”
YN’s expression softened, her voice steady and warm. She leaned closer to the screen, as if she could reach him.
“Listen to me, Oscar. You’re already amazing. No matter what happens today, I’m proud of you. Just go out there and do what you do best.”
Her words hit him harder than he expected, calming something inside him. He looked down briefly, trying to hide the smile he couldn’t control.
"You always know how to make me feel better,” he murmured.
She grinned. “Maybe that’s my secret talent. Actress, best friend, motivational speaker… I can do it all.”
His eyes lingered on her through the screen, something unspoken in his gaze. “Best friend, huh?” he repeated, like he was testing the word.
YN swallowed, suddenly flustered but trying to play it off. “Well… yeah. Unless you’d like me to call you something else.”
Oscar smirked, tilting his head. “I’ll let you decide that.”
She rolled her eyes, laughing nervously. “Go race, Piastri. I’ll be watching, screaming at my TV like a maniac.”
Before ending the call, he leaned in closer to the camera, voice low. “Wish me luck.”
She smiled softly. “Good luck, Oscar. I’ll be cheering for you.”
And then they hung up, both left with the same warm, unshakable feeling in their chests. Whatever this was between them, undefined and unnamed, it was already starting to mean something.

ynupdates: some photos of YN for Vogue’s November 2024 issue. Also, in the magazine we can read the interview where she talks about things like her early career, her future, and of course, she discusses the recent interview her ex-boyfriend, the Formula 1 driver Lando Norris, gave about her.
user01: Lando doesn’t matter, what matters is that YN said she STILL hasn’t put a label on Oscar, so they’re not completely just friends?
hater01: it’s nothing if she doesn’t talk about Lando, lol
user02: what are you talking about? When she talks about Lando, it’s respectfully, not like him

Sunday, November 3 — Brazilian Grand Prix
The paddock was alive with the roar of engines and the chatter of mechanics, but Oscar barely noticed. His phone buzzed in his pocket, and a familiar smile spread across his face before he even answered.
“Hey,” YN’s voice appeared on the screen as soon as he picked up the call, her face lighting up his phone like a little sun in the chaos of the Grand Prix.
“Hey,” he replied, trying to sound casual, though his heart was racing faster than any car on the track. “So… I saw the interview.”
YN leaned back, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, her smile teasing but soft. “You did, huh?”
He nodded, even though she couldn’t see it. “Yeah… you said there’s still no label between us. Just friends… but you know, it feels like there’s more.”
YN’s laugh was light, melodic. “I guess we’re both thinking the same thing. It’s complicated, Oscar. We’re supposed to be friends, but… we both know some things aren’t just friendly.”
He leaned forward, elbows resting on the edge of the table, watching her face closely through the screen. “I didn’t want to assume. I mean… I don’t want to mess things up between us, but I can’t ignore it either.”
She smiled, a hint of mischief in her eyes. “You’re not messing anything up. I like the way things are, the way we are… even if it’s messy, even if it’s confusing sometimes.”
Oscar’s lips curved into a grin. “Messy is one word for it. Driving a Formula 1 car at 300 km/h is another. But right now… right now, this—talking to you—this is my favorite part of the day.”
Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she looked away, hiding a shy smile. “You always know what to say to make me laugh… and maybe think a little too much.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “I’m trying, okay? Don’t blame me if I fail spectacularly sometimes.”
YN laughed softly again. “You’re doing better than you think. I like it. I like… us.”
There was a pause then, a comfortable silence as the distant sounds of engines and team radios filled the background. Yet somehow, it didn’t feel like noise—it felt like a world they had created just for themselves, separate from everything else.
“Are we really okay with this?” he asked finally, voice low, almost vulnerable. “With not rushing, with… keeping it undefined for now?”
“I’m sure,” YN whispered, her eyes softening, glinting with something he couldn’t quite name but felt in his chest. “We’ll figure it out. Together. No labels needed yet. Just… us.”
He smiled, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. “Together,” he echoed, letting the word linger.
YN leaned closer to the camera, her grin contagious. “Now go win that race, Oscar. And don’t crash, okay? I’d be really mad if I had to watch the replay of that.”
He laughed, a genuine, carefree sound. “Deal. But only if you promise to keep cheering for me, even when I’m driving like an idiot.”
“I promise,” she said, playful and sincere all at once. “Now go, my favorite driver. Show them what you’ve got.”
He waved at her through the screen, feeling lighter than he had all week. “See you later, YN.”
“See you,” she replied, her smile lingering even as she started to look away.
Oscar watched for a moment longer, letting the last bit of warmth from her face stay with him, before YN tapped the end call button. The screen went black, and the facetime ended—but the connection between them felt stronger than ever, unspoken yet undeniable.

Time lapse between the Brazilian Grand Prix and Las Vegas
Night had settled over Monaco, the city lights shimmering against the sea. From her apartment, YN was enjoying the calm when the sharp buzz of her phone broke the silence. She glanced at the screen, and her heart skipped a beat: Lando Norris.
She considered ignoring it, but curiosity got the better of her. She answered, and his voice came through—tense, urgent.
“I’m outside. I need to talk to you.”
“What? What do you mean you’re outside?” she shot back, standing up quickly.
“Just come down. Please, don’t hang up.”
For a few seconds she hesitated. She didn’t want to see him, not at that hour, not after everything. But with a weary sigh, she grabbed a jacket and went downstairs.
The night in Monaco was cold, the sea wind rattling against the building’s windows. YN walked down with tense steps, every muscle telling her not to, but there he was: Lando, under the streetlight, hands in his pockets, eyes blazing.
“What the hell do you want?” she spat as soon as she saw him.
“Your interview,” he snapped, almost spitting the words. “You talk like what we had was perfect. Like I don’t exist anymore, just some pretty memory!”
She laughed, bitter, sharp. “And what did you want me to say? That you cheated on me with my cousin? No need. Everyone already knows.”
Lando stiffened. His voice cracked into a shout. “You don’t understand! Things got out of control!”
“No, Lando!” she stepped closer, finger pointed, her fury trembling in her voice. “A ‘mistake’ is sending the wrong text. What you did was betrayal, and public betrayal at that. Do you know what it was like for me to be laughed at, to be pitied, to be asked about Magui like I was living in some cheap soap opera?”
His fists clenched, his voice raw with rage. “I loved you! Damn it, YN, I really loved you!”
“Well, if that was love… I’d rather have hate.”
The silence between them was heavy, broken only by the distant hum of cars. Lando’s chest heaved, until his expression twisted, something new flickering in his eyes.
“And now what?” he spat bitterly. “You’ve already found your replacement? Going to put a ‘label’ on Piastri?”
YN’s heart lurched, but she didn’t flinch. “Oscar has nothing to do with you.”
He let out a humorless laugh, almost spitting his words. “Of course he does! You think I don’t see it? Everyone sees it! You look at him the way you never looked at me… and it kills me.”
YN’s gaze burned, anger and hurt laced together in her voice. “The only thing that should kill you is shame, Lando. Not Oscar.”
He stepped forward, eyes red, consumed with jealousy. “He’ll never love you like I did.”
She met his stare, tears pooling but her voice unshaken. “I hope not. Because if he does, it better not be your way.”
She turned on her heel and walked back inside, slamming the door shut. The sound echoed like a final sentence. Outside, Lando stood frozen, chest burning with jealousy, fury, and shame, completely alone under the streetlight.

paddockupdatess: Formula 1 star Lando Norris and famous actress YN YL were spotted arguing in the parking lot of the actress’s building. According to bystanders, it was a heated confrontation that ended with her walking away and Lando looking furious. What could they have said to each other? Why did Lando go looking for her again? Thoughts? 👀🔥
user01: Omg this is getting messy 😳
user02: She literally left him on read IRL lmao
hater01: Without Lando she’d be irrelevant, stop acting like she’s the victim 🙄
user05: Bro SHE is the one who was cheated on with her cousin, if anyone’s the victim it’s her.
hater02: Yeah but she keeps mentioning him in interviews, she clearly wants the attention.
user04: No, she was respectful. He’s the one who can’t let go.
hater03: Y’all are so delusional, she’s just clout chasing.
user04: Clout chasing? Girl she’s literally on Vogue 💀

YN slammed the door of her apartment and sank against it, as if the weight of the world had fallen onto her shoulders. The night in Monaco was quiet, but inside her head, a whirlwind of emotions raged uncontrollably. The argument with Lando still echoed in her ears: shouts, accusations, her voice breaking, his accusing gaze. And, strangely and absurdly, she felt guilty.
She hugged herself, searching for comfort that wouldn’t come. She needed Oscar. His calm, his smile, the way he looked at her and made her feel safe; she wanted that more than anything else. But then, like a shadow creeping silently, doubts arose.
What if everything they said about her was true? What if she really was just a slut, a manipulator, someone who played with others’ feelings? The word echoed in her mind like a cruel echo. Maybe… just maybe… all the security she felt with Oscar could shatter if he discovered her “flaws.”
The thought of walking away from him crossed her mind, fleeting and painful, like a lightning strike illuminating a storm. But even that thought left a hollow ache in her chest that made her tremble. She didn’t want to lose him; she didn’t want her world to crumble because of words spoken by others or ghosts of guilt that weren’t hers to carry.
She stayed there, leaning against the door, taking deep breaths, trying to calm the trembling in her body and the fury contained in her mind. She knew she needed clarity, she needed strength… and above all, she needed to decide whether she would let Lando and the world’s opinions define who she was… or finally allow Oscar to be her anchor in the middle of the chaos.
—
Minutes later, YN was a little calmer, leaning back against the couch in her apartment. Her mind was still spinning, questioning whether it would be best to distance herself from Oscar, to keep him out of the chaos Lando had left behind.
The silence wrapped around her, broken only by the distant hum of the city. Suddenly, her phone vibrated on the table. Her heart raced automatically: she expected it to be Lando again, ready to argue, ready to accuse her of something else.
But it wasn’t. This time, the screen displayed a different name. Oscar.
“Oh shit…” she thought, her breath trembling slightly. She didn’t know if she felt more relieved or more nervous. Her finger hovered for a moment before answering. All she wanted now was to hear his voice… but she was also terrified of what he might say.

A little break between the Singapore and United States GPs.
Oscar, YN, Alexandra, and Charles decided to escape to a small island in Greece called Mykonos, where they would spend almost a month enjoying breathtaking views, crystal-clear waters, delicious food, and each other’s company—along with their adorable pets, Nala and Leo.
They spent their days exploring hidden beaches, cooking meals together, and just relaxing away from the chaos of the F1 season. Every evening ended with laughter, sunset walks, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime.
It was the perfect getaway for friendship, love, and a little bit of mischief… because you know Oscar and YN couldn’t stay just friends for long.

Oscar had chosen a small seaside restaurant in Mykonos, one of those hidden places where the tables were so close to the shore that the sound of the waves blended with the soft background music. The place was lit by lanterns instead of bright lights, giving everything a warm golden glow.
YN had been nervous the whole way there, wondering if this was just dinner… or something more. But the way Oscar looked at her when she laughed, the way he listened so intently, it didn’t feel like “just friends.”
They talked about everything: racing, silly stories from school, even their favorite foods. At one point, Oscar leaned a little closer, his elbow brushing against hers. YN froze, heart racing, but he didn’t move away. Instead, his hand stayed near, almost inviting.
When she reached for her glass, their fingers brushed—light, accidental, but charged with something that made her cheeks burn. Oscar smiled, not his usual calm smile, but a softer one, like it was meant just for her.
“Sorry,” he murmured.
“Don’t be,” she whispered back.
After dinner they walked back to the hotel together, but instead of going up to their rooms, they decided to take a stroll along the hotel’s private beach. The sand was cool under their feet and the moon lit up the sea like a silver mirror. They walked in silence, enjoying the night breeze, until their hands brushed again. This time, neither of them pulled away.
Oscar gently intertwined his fingers with YN’s, and she looked at him with a shy smile. They stopped in front of the ocean, and under the moonlight, Oscar leaned a little closer. YN felt the world stop when their lips finally met in a soft, tender kiss full of unspoken promises.
It wasn’t long or rushed, just the kind of kiss that said more than any words could. When they pulled apart, Oscar gave her a faint smile, and YN couldn’t help but laugh nervously, hiding her face against his shoulder.
That night, on that private beach, under the moon, everything changed between them.

After the kiss between YN and Oscar, they never spoke about it again, even though both were dying to. She needed to clear the doubts the kiss had left in her mind, and he… well, he needed her every day, and no longer just as a friend.
When the break between the Grands Prix ended, everyone returned to their respective lives, and of course, for the next Grand Prix—the United States GP—YN would be there to support Oscar.
And here we are, at the United States Grand Prix. YN and Oscar arrived at the paddock, but this time she didn’t feel intimidated by the cameras or the fans. On the contrary, she was radiating happiness. And Oscar? He looked absolutely luminous, his grin impossible to contain.
All of this was being watched by Lando and Magui. Lando felt jealousy gnawing at him, and an inexplicable urge to punch Oscar. Why? He had no right—he had moved on, or at least he thought he had—but still, he couldn’t stand seeing YN with another man. He wasn’t used to it yet.
On the other hand, Magui wanted this. What no one knew was that she had always envied YN’s life. Their family had always made a clear distinction between YN and Magui: both beautiful, but YN was the family’s golden child. Magui could never stand seeing her happy.
YN walked confidently through the paddock, holding Oscar’s arm lightly, smiling at fans and photographers. She felt a little thrill knowing Lando’s eyes were on them, but she didn’t care—she was with someone who truly made her feel alive.
Oscar leaned in close, whispering something that made her laugh softly. That laugh—it was like music to him. He couldn’t stop stealing glances at her, and when she caught him, he just smiled shyly, as if she were the only person in the world that mattered.
Lando scowled, tightly gripping Magui’s hand, but she only rolled her eyes. The tension was palpable, and yet… YN and Oscar seemed completely in their own world, wrapped in a bubble that no one else could penetrate.
The day stretched ahead with interviews, cameras flashing, and the roar of engines in the background, but for them, it was as if time slowed down whenever they were together. Little touches, quick laughs, shared looks… everything spoke louder than words.

When the news of Lando’s interview broke and her phone started buzzing with hundreds of tags, YN felt a wave of dread. She was in her apartment in Monaco, sitting with Oscar, enjoying a quiet evening before the chaos of the Mexican Grand Prix, unaware that this little bubble of peace was about to shatter.
Her smile vanished the moment she read the headline. Lando. Talking trash. About her. About them. The audacity made her blood boil. After everything, he still thought he had the right to drag her name through the mud.
YN’s hands trembled slightly as she scrolled through the article. “Honestly? I think all of this between her and Oscar is just revenge…” The words stabbed at her like ice. He had no idea what she had been through. He had no right.
Oscar noticed her change immediately. “Hey… what’s wrong?” he asked, concern threading his voice.
YN looked up at him, frustration and disbelief written all over her face. “It’s… it’s Lando. He’s saying I’m using you… that this is all an act. Can you believe it?”
Oscar’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing. “That’s… pathetic. He has zero right to say anything about you—or us.”
“I know!” YN snapped, the anger rising like a storm inside her. “After everything he did… after everything he caused… and now he’s pretending I’m the bad guy? I can’t… I just can’t.”
Oscar stepped closer, taking her hands in his, grounding her. “Hey… don’t let him get to you. This is our life. What matters is right here, right now—us.”
YN drew a deep breath, her chest heaving as she tried to calm down. She wanted to scream, to throw her phone across the room, but instead she exhaled slowly.
“You’re right,” she admitted, her voice softer now, a faint smile breaking through. “He’s not worth it. Let’s just… enjoy tonight.”
“That’s my girl,” Oscar murmured, squeezing her hand gently, his thumb brushing across hers.
As they settled on the couch, YN leaned into him, letting the anger slowly melt away. Lando could try to stir trouble all he wanted, but here, in this apartment, with Oscar by her side, she felt safe, happy, and completely in control of her own life.

Seven days had passed since Y/N had agreed to go to the Singapore Grand Prix with Oscar. Was she regretting it? Maybe—but not because of him. The thought of seeing Lando again made her stomach churn, a feeling she couldn’t shake.
Of course, she wouldn’t be completely alone; she got along well with the other guys on the grid, and their girlfriends, too. Still, the idea of being back in that environment, surrounded by people who had once been so familiar, brought a mix of excitement and anxiety.
She had spent days mentally preparing herself, reaching such a meticulous level of planning that Alexandra swore she wouldn’t leave Y/N’s side for even a single second.
The trip to Singapore was comfortable enough—Y/N traveled with Charles and Alexandra, sharing laughs and stories that helped ease some of her nerves.
But as soon as they arrived at the paddock, the whispers and rumors about Y/N started almost immediately. She didn’t like being the center of attention, and seeing the posts and photos of her circulating on social media made her cheeks heat with a mixture of embarrassment and irritation. Yet, amidst all the chaos, she reminded herself why she was there: not for the drama, not for Lando, but for Oscar—and for herself, proving that she could face this chapter head-on.

The race was over. It hadn’t gone exactly as Oscar had hoped—third place wasn’t the victory he wanted—but strangely, he didn’t feel disappointed. Maybe it was because a beautiful girl was waiting for him in the garage. The moment he climbed out of the car, he sprinted toward her. Their arms collided in a tight embrace, a mix of relief and unspoken emotions. She held him just as tightly, as if the world around them didn’t exist.
From across the paddock, Lando watched everything unfold. Yes, he had won—but there was an emptiness gnawing at him. Magui wasn’t by his side, and he could see, painfully, how Oscar, despite taking third, radiated a happiness Lando could never touch. The sight twisted in his chest, a mix of envy and regret that gnawed at him relentlessly. He had betrayed her, yes—but seeing her with someone else, someone who genuinely cared for her, was a poison he couldn’t swallow.
His heart pounded, his vision blurred with a mixture of fury and longing. Every laugh, every sparkle in her eyes directed at Oscar felt like a blade. Lando’s jaw clenched, the weight of his own mistakes pressing down on him. He realized, maybe too late, that no trophy, no podium, no victory could replace the connection he had thrown away. He had lost her—not to a stranger, but to someone he respected, someone who made her smile in ways he never could.
And there she was, right there, leaning against Oscar, smiling, oblivious to the storm raging inside Lando. The world seemed to stop for them, and all Lando could do was watch, consumed by a bitter mixture of regret and jealousy, knowing that the game he had played so recklessly had cost him far more than he ever imagined.

Of course, YN had seen those two likes—her ex-boyfriend and her cousin, the two people she had loved and who had betrayed her in the worst possible way—but she didn’t give them any importance. She was with Oscar, and being with him made all the bad things fade away, as if he had some kind of superpower that made the noise of the world disappear.
Oscar was a complete gentleman with her. When they went out, he brought her flowers, opened the car door for her, pulled out her chair at the restaurant, helped her with her coat, and always made sure she felt comfortable and cared for. She couldn’t deny how incredibly kind and thoughtful he was, and when she was with him, everything felt right.
But on the other hand, there were the negative comments—the people who still couldn’t stand to see her happy, the ones stuck on a relationship she no longer belonged to, the ones who excused Lando but crucified YN for moving on after just a month, even though Lando had done it before their relationship even ended.
YN didn’t care about any of that noise. She preferred the sweet nothingness of being with Oscar. They weren’t dating yet; they hadn’t even discussed their feelings openly, but anyone who saw them together would think they were. And yet, they were “just friends,” because Oscar respected her deeply and didn’t want to risk ruining their friendship. He preferred having her as a friend over losing her completely.
And YN wanted to fully move on from Lando. She didn’t want anyone to think she was with Oscar just for revenge. Of course not—she genuinely cared for him, much more than she could ever express to the public—but she also didn’t want to lose him because of the scars from her past relationship. Being with Oscar made her feel safe, happy, and whole, and nothing else mattered.

YN and Oscar kept spending time together; he would drop by her apartment every now and then, and she loved having him around. The connection between them felt effortless—there was never anything awkward, just comfort, respect, and a quiet kind of care that spoke louder than words.
After Singapore, maybe they grew even closer. The line between friends and something more started to blur a little each day, and the tension between them became harder to ignore.
They were also becoming a bit more public—people no longer doubted how well they got along. They were often spotted together at restaurants, going for walks, grabbing coffee, or laughing over something only the two of them seemed to understand. Fans had begun to notice the way Oscar’s eyes softened when YN was near, and how she seemed to shine a little brighter around him.
Some even started to wonder if their bond was just friendship anymore—or if it was slowly turning into something deeper, something neither of them had put into words yet.

The next day...
Just as Oscar had promised, he picked her up from her apartment and took her to a beautiful restaurant on the outskirts of Monaco. The view was stunning—almost 6 p.m., with the sunset painting the sky in warm, golden tones.
Everything was perfect from the start: he opened the car door for her, offered his hand when she stepped out, pulled out her chair at the table, and of course, he brought her flowers—beautiful lilies.
The conversation flowed naturally, with no pressure and no awkwardness. Even the little silences felt warm and comfortable, just the two of them gazing at each other.
“So, I’ve seen your projects, and honestly, I’m really impressed. Besides being such a beautiful woman, you’re also a great actress, YN,” Oscar said, taking a sip of his wine. His cheeks flushed slightly—he didn’t want to make her uncomfortable or put any pressure on her.
She laughed softly, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. “Well, thank you, Oscar, and I’m glad you’ve seen my work. Honestly, back when I used to go to the paddock with you-know-who, sometimes I’d get confused. The cars went by so fast I couldn’t tell who was who—but now I definitely know who’s who.”
Oscar chuckled. “Oh yeah? And who’s who?”
“Obviously you were the fastest,” she teased before taking a sip of champagne.
“I feel flattered, Miss YL.”
“You should,” she replied playfully, laughing again.
To Oscar, her laugh was the most perfect sound—the kind that filled him with warmth. He wouldn’t say he was in love, not yet, but he couldn’t deny the little “butterflies” he felt in his stomach whenever he was with her.
He knew he probably shouldn’t—she was his teammate’s ex, after all. But did it really matter? Lando had cheated on her, and YN deserved to be happy, didn’t she? And Oscar… well, Oscar had so much he wanted to give her.

It had been a little over a month since YN and Lando’s breakup.
During that time, YN had grown closer to Oscar. At first, it was just simple messages—“good morning,” “good night,” little things that soon turned into late-night calls while he was away in other countries, and visits whenever he had free time.
It was undeniable that something was slowly blooming between them. YN could listen to him talk for hours about the things he loved without ever getting bored, and Oscar, on the other hand, couldn’t hide the way his eyes lit up whenever he saw her or whenever her name came up in conversation.
He longed for her to come to a Grand Prix—any Grand Prix. He needed to feel her presence there, to run to her after the race, hold her tight, and just stay by her side as if the rest of the world didn’t matter. But he didn’t want to pressure her. He knew it was still hard for YN to see Lando, and the last thing he wanted was to put her in an uncomfortable situation.
Still, the thought wouldn’t leave his mind. And Oscar was willing to do whatever it took to convince her to join him for the Singapore Grand Prix.

Of course, YN spent the night thinking about what to do—she only had seven days to decide.
On one hand, she wanted to go with Oscar, knowing how important they had become in each other’s lives… But on the other hand, she couldn’t stand the thought of seeing Lando, and even worse, seeing Lando with Magui.
After a lot of thinking, she realized she had no other choice. If she wanted to move on and be strong, she had to face her fear. She wasn’t going to let Lando win. If he could play games, she could play too—better than him.
YN sat on her bed, turned on her phone, and opened Oscar’s chat. She wasn’t doing it for revenge; she was doing it for Oscar, and for herself—to prove that she wouldn’t let Lando or Magui affect her.

Lando’s summer break was about to end, but the last two weeks had been strange. He was on his phone all day, barely paying attention to Y/N, and she was starting to notice.
When they got back from vacation, there was still a week left of summer break, but Lando was never home.
Now, Lando was getting ready to go out. He’d put on a comfy shirt, some shorts, nothing fancy—but the cologne he wore filled the room.
“Are you leaving already?” Y/N asked, looking at him from the bed, scrolling through her phone.
He nodded. “Yeah, I have to help a friend with something.”
“What friend?” she asked, wanting to know everything.
“Max.” Lando said curtly.
“Okay… be careful. I love you.”
He didn’t respond. She sighed and stayed home

f1gossip: Lando was seen in his car with a blonde next to him. According to some social media comments, the blonde is none other than Magui Corceiro, Y/N’s cousin. What does Lando have to say about all this? How will Y/N feel seeing her cousin with her boyfriend? Comment below 👀
ynlandoparents: what? they’re probably just friends.
ynmyworld: it’s weird because he hasn’t posted anything with Y/N since the start of summer break.
marilvsyn: yeah, I get your point… he also hasn’t liked any of Y/N’s posts.
miawndonowwis: maybe he’s just giving Magui a ride to Y/N’s place, right? (trying not to panic)

Of course, Y/N had seen the picture of Lando and her cousin. She couldn’t believe it—why had he lied to her so many times?
When Lando arrived at the apartment, Y/N didn’t even want to say anything. She was tired of fighting; they had been doing it for weeks.
When Lando got into the shower, Y/N took the chance to grab his phone. But it wouldn’t unlock, and that only frustrated her more.
Later that night, once Lando had fallen asleep, Y/N was still there, holding his phone in her hands.
“Please God, help me unlock this… if I do, I’ll take it as a sign that I need to leave.”
And almost as if it was divine intervention, the phone unlocked.
She scrolled through it, going into every app until she found the chat with Magui. Messages full of love, hearts, pictures of the two of them after…
Y/N felt her chest tighten in pain. She didn’t want to create a huge scene, but the truth was—it was all too much. She had to leave, quietly, but she had to.
She got dressed, grabbed her phone and a few things into a small bag, took her car keys, picked up Nala, and left. But where to? Charles and Alexandra’s place. Nobody could understand her better than them.
When she arrived, they were asleep, but woke up to the sound of the door opening. There she was, completely broken.
“Oh my god, Y/N, what are you doing here?” Alexandra didn’t hesitate for a second before pulling her into a hug. Charles helped them inside.
“I found out that all this time… Lando has been making a fool of me. He cheated on me, Alex,” Y/N sobbed.
“What? With who?” Charles asked.
“Magui. My cousin.” Y/N broke even more.
“Hey, we’re here, okay? We’re not going to let you go through this alone. You and Nala can count on us,” Alexandra whispered, holding her tightly.
