You have no right to be apolitical. When you name yourself like this you allow others to manipulate your opinions and feelings. You allow the injustice to come into this world, on our streets, in our houses and flats, in our minds. You allow the crime and fear to become the part of our everyday life. You allow the others to think that they are higher and better and have the right to shut your mouths and observing their unprecedented behaviour. That they have the right to call you all the meanest words, to steal your property and, worst of all, to take your life. Or life of your mother, best friend, little boy who lives next to your house, or just ordinary stranger who just wants to buy products and go back to his family which waits for him. But he never comes back because you choose to be apolitical.
You have no right to keep silence. When you say nothing at least one person in the world thinks he or she has the opportunity to spread the hatred and discord. You let people who have power to be even stronger for weak people, unprotected people, people who cannot stand up for themselves. You allow prejudice continue to live in our society.
You have no right to be indifferent. Everyday millions of people suffer only because you think only about yourself, that you don’t want to open your eyes wider to see how many bad things happen around you, how some people want to impose their will on others, how we become uglier. Every. Fucking. Day. It’s only because you decide not to pay attention on this.
And it’s terrible to understand that we started talking about it again only when an innocent man died.
We need to talk louder, we need to notice injustice and fight it, we need to go on the streets if we are not heard, we need to support each other, to protect each other and to love each other despite the race, gender, sexual orientation, the place of living and the level of salary, problems with physical and mental health.
We need to let love into our hearts.
I’m an average white girl and I can’t understand and feel your situation wholly, but I’m in pain and I’m so sorry for everything, I’m sorry for all the hated and misunderstood. I’m sorry for all the deaths. But I promise, I won’t be indifferent and I won’t keep silence. We need to stop it. Let’s prove that we can do it. Because we will be able to stop it when we are together.
