What's the point of having two characters parallel one another from the beginning? What's the point of them spending a full season together, only to split them up and still give hope that ultimately amounts to nothing?

What's the point of giving characters these big backstories if you're never going to explore them? Only to stick her with some random guy that goes entirely against the way she has been developed in the past.

I'll never understand how a writer can get so lucky as to have two actors with incredible chemistry, playing two characters that slowly become the perfect match over the course of five+ seasons only to say nope! That never meant anything and never will.
