When you were seventeen, you thought that the world was made of the same substance as your own theories, so that you had control of it and could turn it to your own advantage. But one day everyone had to confront the bitter truth that it wasn’t like that, that the world was soup and thought was generally a fork: it seldom resulted in a good meal.

Day 3~ The Laforets.
starter for @wildinfinitum ( ronnie, specifically )
there are perks to being practically invisible in a metaphorical sense; their face isn’t associated with any key event or any group of main players. they, like their master, exist in the shadows of things ( although, perhaps if someone were to keep an exceptionally watchful eye and know what to look out for, they’d be more present than initially expected ).
the perks continue to being able to exist in spaces some can’t without attracting unwanted suspicion, with one such space being the alveare. the sweetness of the honey-based wine appeals to sigma’s tastes, and the people-watching is a bonus. some of the people who frequent this place are... strange, to say the least, although if they were to catch wind of a name they’d know more than they should.
but the person who catches their eyes is far from strange; if anything, he’s terribly normal. he looks like he belongs here, and yet something about him chills them — their gaze shifts back to the beautiful bar, bringing the wine glass to their lips to take another sip they hope will still their rattled nerves. why?? they wonder, unsure what it is about him that has them so shaken without an interaction.
the wine doesn’t go down as easily as it should, feeling caught on a lump in their tightening throat.
