On this day 5 years ago, the vault final took place during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Sandra Izbasa from Romania took the gold medal. American McKayla Maroney took the silver. And Russian Maria Paseka took the bronze.

On this day five years ago, the all around final at the 2012 London Olympic Games was held. Gabby Douglas claimed her second gold medal of the games. Gabby became the first black gymnast to win the title. Viktoria Komova took her second silver of the games. Aliya Mustafina was the winner of a tiebreaker with Aly Raisman, securing Aliya with the bronze medal.

On this day five years ago, the Fierce Five won gold in the team final during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

On this day 5 years ago, Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross, and Jordyn Wieber were selected to be apart of the 2012 Olympic Gymnastics Team. The team later dubbed ‘The Fierce Five’, went on to win gold in the team event. Making them the second team from the United States to win gold in the team event. Gabby Douglas later won the All Around, McKayla Maroney won silver on the Vault, and Aly Raisman took bronze on the balance beam, and gold on the floor.
