Since I was 13 Iāve had issues with not only my weight and feeling awful (thyroid cancer has a lot to do with it) but Iāve struggled with self image. I know my relationship with food hasnāt been great but it didnāt get bad until I was 19. After dealing with my already messed up head, I was depressed and someone close to me started commenting on my weight... that was it. I started starving myself and making myself vomit when I did eat, even if it was a salad. I dropped 15 pounds in a month. I did start to feel a little better. But the anxiety, depression, stress and life in general were all still getting to me. I fought so hard to stop throwing up and fight the urge any time I ate. I can go months with no issues now and then it just comes back. This time, my doctor commented that my weight hasnāt changed since last year (it actually had, I just gained back the 15 pounds during quarantine.) and decided to tell me I need to walk an extra 30 minutes a day and eat less carbs... Iām 24 years old, 5ā4ā tall and I weight 170 pounds. I work 4 part time jobs and attend college full time as a double major. I have a lot on my plate, I donāt eat much as it is not counting the eating disorder. Iām not going to say I never eat junk food, Iām a stressed out college kid, you really think Iām not going to smash some ramen noodles and turkey sandwiches? Thatās all I can afford. I donāt even drink pop. A coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day. I donāt know why I canāt lose the weight anymore. And looking at myself makes me uncomfortable. I hate how thick my thighs and hips are. I hate the fat around my stomach. Iām embarrassed and not ok. Iāve been ok enough for some time, and itās getting hard again. I donāt want to go back into that whole.
