Sabrina’s eyes widened and she grabbed his hand before he could walk away. “I…No….Don’t say that….” She couldn’t stand being the reason anyone was upset, especially beyond her magic. Despite their complicated history she didn’t want to hurt him and she just couldn’t let him go until he knew he was okay. “You can stay….for a little bit….I just….I’m sorry if I sounded….I just want to make sure you’re okay.” She hadn’t known he would be so upset over his engagement with the way he had been speaking to her as of recent and she just stomped over his confused heart even more and made things worse for him. She really was the worst. She gently used her other hand to touch his face. She wanted to take that pain away from him. She wished she knew how to give people feelings that weren’t laced with sadness and hurt. She hurt even more when she knew she was making others hurt and then that projected onto them and it was an endless cycle. “What can I….How can I help…?”

When she grabbed his hand Hans didn’t even freeze. It was instinct to just wrap his hand around hers. “No! I mean, you’re fine. I’m fine. It just...kind o sucks, I guess.” He shrugged a little bit. “Like, I guess I had all these plans but throughout my engagement I began to realize it was with the wrong person.” Hans glances away from her and onto the floor. As much as it was a blow to Hans’ ego that Anna’s heart had never completely been in the palm of his hands it was worse knowing it wouldn’t be Sabrina he would go home to at the end of the night. He finally looks back up at her as she’s reaching for his face, his free hand going over hers on his cheek as his eyes stung with tears. “I don’t know. You just always knew the right thing to say,” he admitted. His forehead goes to rest against hers and he closes his eyes for a moment, just taking a second to appreciate the closeness with her. “I always wished she was you, Brina,” he said softly. “My heart’s been in the wrong place for so long.”

Hans’ job kept him very busy throughout the day between meetings and such, but he’d been ignoring one matter that popped up on his desk one day. A note from a Mr. Colin Hopper and Hans had been pushing it aside all week. Finally he called the number left for him and set up a meeting with a woman, whose name he recognized immediately. It was a curious thing to be contacted by someone else and be meeting with Atta Dreyfus herself. Hans had his assistant let Atta into his office promptly at the time she had given him on the phone. He was clicking his pen, his eyes scanning words on his computer screen when he heard the knock on the door. He minimized his screen and clicked his pen again before setting it down. After rising to his feet he offered the woman a smile. “I take it you’re Atta,” he said, extending his hand out from across his desk to shake. “Hans Westergaard, but I take it you already knew that.” 

Hans knew if anyone would be relieved to hear the news of his most recent ‘heartbreak’ it would be Daisy. Just the look in her devious eyes was confirmation enough to know that she was more than pleased to hear the news. Hans wasn’t going to hide the smirk on his face or the look of lustful desire in his eyes. He stepped closer to her, wrapping an arm around her waist to pull her closer. “Her heart belonged to another, she was in love with someone else. It was...quite a bit of a blow to be honest. It’s fine though. I’ll be okay. Besides, I have you to distract me.” He smirked at her and leaned his lips close to her ear. “Like you said, I’m free as a bird and can have whatever I want. I know you want the same. I can tell by the look in your eyes.” He pressed a kiss to her neck, just under where he had whispered into her ear. “What do you say? Just me and you. No repercussions or bullshit. Just us.”

Sabrina’s heart was beating faster and faster the moment he spoke. Him just being at her shared apartment with Alex was already such a dangerous situation and she had pulled him aside and to her room so fast that she was sure that she had never moved so fast in her life. She knew Alex wasn’t home but she felt like Hans in any space that they actually shared together felt wrong and she didn’t need to upset the space more than she already had just by seeking Hans out again in the first place. The last time they spoke, Sabrina had cut him off and felt proud for holding her ground. Now….now she was being sucked back into his turmoil and she didn’t know if that was a good thing or bad thing. He left his fiancé. And while she wanted to hope it was for the noble reason it was because she was doing the very thing to him that he had done to her. It was all out in the open and worse…he was sad. At least she thought he was. It was hard to tell when she was feeling an overwhelming rush of it from him being in her depression room alone. She didn’t let many people in her space and him being there was putting her on edge. But he came to her because he was sad and felt she understood and she didn’t want to just….push him out because she was anxious. “I…I am sorry that happened…..maybe it was for the best….considering….everything….” She didn’t know where she stood with him now and she was scared to find out. “I….How can I….How can I help? Did you…Did you want to go…somewhere?”

Hans wasn’t necessarily phased by the sight of her room, but it did make his heart ache for her knowing that was an indicator that she was not well. He knew his time being there was going to be limited. He didn’t know when Alex would show up and he didn’t want to be there long enough to find out. Running to her was surely a mistake, Hans knew it would likely end up that way at least. “I-- Uh, I mean... I don’t-- I just wanted to be with you.” He avoids her gaze because he feels he might unfold completely if he looks in her eyes. “We can go somewhere else, if you’d prefer.” He shakes his head, mostly to himself. “No, I should probably just leave all together. Maybe I shouldn’t have come here. Because coming here always unravels something that turns into a mess.” He finally looks up at her, a sad smile plain as day on his face. “And seeing you always hurts me somehow. In the end one of us always leaves and no one wins. Why do we do it to each other? Because we’re still drawn to one another? I know I’ll always be drawn to you. Nothing’s ever going to change that.” He lets out a sigh and shoves his hands in his hoodie pocket to grab his hat. Maybe he should have dressed a bit warmer but he hadn’t exactly been thinking properly in the moment when he came here either. “I guess, I just don’t know what to do anymore. About anything. I feel like in just a few short hours my entire life took a one-eighty.”

“No stupid games, I promise.” Hans was pretty sure he’d run out of chances when it came to promises but he meant it. “I don’t have much to say, really. I just wanted to tell you that I left my fiancée.” His face went stoic as he bit on the inside of his cheek. “She, uh...well, I guess she was in love with someone else.” He looked towards the ground, avoiding her gaze. “I didn’t really know who else to go to. I just didn’t want to be alone and you’ve always been the person I run to when I need something.” He glanced back up at her, his face showing more emotion now. Longing covered up by the façade of melancholy. “I don’t really expect you to do anything. You don’t even have to say anything. It’s fine. Maybe coming here was a mistake.” He let out a sigh and put his hand on his forehead. “I guess, the solution to my problems has always been going to you because you understand what it’s like to hurt more than anyone.”

“It’s...incredible,” Hans responded, slightly thrown off by the question. “I feel like I’m being seen and heard. What more could a man as for when he’s telling his story?” Hans wasn’t sure where this conversation was going but he knew something was off with Blaise. “What troubles you?” He opens the cabinet in his kitchen and pulls out two glasses and grabs at bottle of whiskey off the counter. After prepping them both a generous glass he hands one to Blaise. “Do you think I’m not going to believe you? What reason do I have not to? Surely you trust me more than that.” Hans lets out a light laugh. “Besides, what ever it is I’m sure it can’t be that bad. You’ve dealt with a lot of bullshit thrown your way. I’m sure you’re equipped to deal with...whatever this is.”

All Hans wanted to do after his long day at work was go home, maybe pop open a bottle, and destress. He didn’t want to think about the stress of his engagement, despite knowing Anna was at the house right now. He had no issue putting on his happy face and pretending his life away, but it had grown exhausting. Hans knew Anna was likely either cozied up and enjoying some form of media or baking up a storm in the kitchen. When he arrived home he didn’t smell the sickeningly sweet scent of chocolate so he headed to the other room and there was still no sign of her. Then he heard it. The sound of a faint sob and Jim’s name rolling off of her tongue coming from up the stairs. Hans smirked to himself as he glanced up the steps. 

After making his way upstairs he was sure to have a devastated look on his face. There she was, in his bed, crying over another man. A man that Hans had barely even heard of. Hans wasn’t a stupid man. He knew, despite how much of a puddle Anna was at his touch, she would never truly be his. He didn’t love her, nor would he ever. After Hans had uttered the words he listened to Anna’s rambling and sobs. He sat on the edge of the bed beside her and with a sad expression he muttered out an, “oh, Anna.” He leaned closer to her and placed a gentle hand on her face, his lips curving up slightly into a sad smile. “If only there were someone out there who loved you.” His expression shifted, something sinister replacing the ‘heartbreak’ in his eyes. He stood from the bed and let out a bitter laugh. “Did you think from the start our engagement was traditional? I never even got your sister’s blessing. Did you really think we were ever going to get married?”

Hans turned around to face Anna. It was clear as day he wouldn’t bat an eye over this or lose any sleep. “Elsa was always so unobtainable, but you. You were so naïve you thought not only I loved you, but another as well. This is betrayal at it’s best. What is the world going to do to you the moment it finds out you’ve broken my heart and I’m left inconsolable by your actions. So, you kissed another? As far as I’m concerned that’s means for the end of this engagement.” Hans wasn’t fulfilled though. He feared though his plans hadn’t unfolded like he’d intended he knew he could move onto better things. “Besides, what’s the young Arendelle girl ever going to do for a man like me? You and your sister are doing nothing but dragging your parents’ names through the dirt. They left you both a legacy and you guys have done...what exactly? At first this was perfect. We could have gotten married and I could have given you the life you always dreamed of. No, you fucked that up at the perfect time though. I realized that your time in my life would only be temporary. You’ll never be the person I achieve my goals with. You’re not good enough for that. You’re not good enough for me.” 

There was something maniacal about the way he said things and the look in his eyes. It shouldn’t have been so easy for someone who was so ‘madly in love’ to be able to look their fiancée-- ex-fiancée in the eye and tell them they never loved them. For Hans it was simply just another day. He had no issue crushing her spirits after all this time. He knew he’d gain enough from this experience as is. He would paint her as the villain and himself as the kind, but heartbroken, young man who could have given Anna so much opportunity. He could play this off just fine. He knew everything would work out fine. Besides, who would ever believe her over him? “I have never loved you and I never will. Do you really think someone like me could ever love you? You’re far more foolish than I thought, Anna.” 

It really wasn’t fair that he was so good looking. It just made getting caught up in everything that much easier, and the ability to roll with the waves of the engagement. It wasn’t like it was horrible, if anything it was always a dream. As his arm wrapped around her, Anna gotta more comfortable against him, her arms untangling so her hands could rest on his chest. As he came closer she bit her bottom lip, feeling the heat of her alcohol and him rising to the apples of her cheeks. Nodding slowly, Anna had to blink a few times to come back to Earth for a moment. “I mean… really great movies start off with really great commercials so I.. I think it’s worth having a bit of a sneak peek.”

Hans was doing his best to keep on a happy face. He was supposed to be the happy fiancé that was in love. Nothing was supposed to get in the way of that though. Most everything Hans did was in his own self interest, like wooing Anna over. He’d never loved her but he sure the hell was great at pretending. He leaned closer to her and grinned. “Everyone deserves a sneak peek,” he said before pressing a kiss to her cheek. “There’s yours.” He caught her eyes and something seemed...off. “Are you alright, my love?” he asked her. “You seem like something is bothering you. Tell me what’s troubling you.”

Sabrina didn’t know why she was here. Well, she did, but she didn’t know if she was going to be able to go through with it. She needed to tell Hans she couldn’t keep seeing him. Her relationships with her friends were too important and he had a fiancé. She needed to be firm and she needed to make sure that she didn’t fall for his charms and tricks. She didn’t want to think that Hans was tricking her, but if he really cared for her like he claimed…he would let her go. He would know what they were doing was wrong and he would let her be free. When he opened the door, Sabrina’s heart was racing and she was doing all she could do to not cry or show her sadness right off the bat. She wasn’t sure how long she could keep that up, but she had to try. For her friends. “Hi….I’m sorry for dropping in like this….again….but we really need to talk….and it has to be….now.”

Hans wasn’t expecting any visitors. He sure as hell wasn’t expecting Sabrina when he heard a knock on his door. When he opened the door and came face to face with her his breath caught in his throat for a moment. He hadn’t spoken to her much recently and hoped she was doing somewhat well. Knowing Sabrina though that wasn’t always likely. Hans knew if she was at his door though it probably wasn’t good. “Okay,” he told her, letting out the breath he was holding in. “Do you want to come in? It’s kind of chilly outside. The wind doesn’t help either.” He bit the inside of his cheek and stepped aside just in case she did want to come in. “Are you...are you alright? Nothing bad happened, right?” As glad as he was to see her he knew this conversation probably wasn’t going to end well. The concern for her had already set in and it was clear as day on his face.

That didn’t surprise her in the least. She certainly was at Wonderland for the money, and if she was able to afford a place like this, then she would never have to work a day there again. The people were way too stuffy, though, and she would miss her girls too much. Hearing that he missed her was like music to her ears: she didn’t like to admit it to anyone when she had affection for them, but the reciprocation made it worth it. “Someone’s quick tonight,” she teased, her hands clasping behind his neck. “You know I’m a girl who likes to multitask. You’re telling me your life has been all that drab? It must be the fiancee,” she mused, pressing the first quick kiss to his lips. “Who says we can’t kiss and tell?”

There was a certain way that Hans felt around Daisy that made his blood pump just a little faster. She was a rush, someone people most certainly wouldn’t expect to see him around. Daisy was irresistible though and Hans was certain she knew that. After she pressed the first kiss to his lips for a brief second he leaned a bit closer. “Wouldn’t you just love to kiss and tell,” he said before pressing his lips on her neck, just under her jaw. “Don’t worry about the affairs in my life. I’d rather hear about yours. Unless your mouth is a bit too preoccupied with mine, that is.” He glances up at her eyes for a quick moment before pressing his lips against hers. One of his hands travelled down her side until he was under her thigh. He lifted her leg around his waist and used his free arm to stay firmly wrapped around her. 

“Me? Never,” she shot back, sipping out of her glass as he did, too. “Of course you do, it seems like your kind of scene. Definitely a step up from Wonderland, that’s for sure.” With a quirk of her brow, Daisy pursed her lips, intrigued. If anyone were to find them doing something in a more private area, it would be on Hans, not her. “That sounds quite nice, actually,” she agreed, a smirk forming as she followed behind him and out of the main room of the party. As they moved into the darker hallway, Daisy skipped ahead a bit, slipping her arm into his. “I miss you, you know. I miss causing trouble with you, too. Nothing like causing some chaos to leave  last year, you know.”

“I’ve been apart of this club for most of my life. You can thank my parents for that,” he sniped back. “Not that I don’t enjoy Wonderland though,” Hans knew he was risking a lot by even entertaining the thought of entertaining her, but he was diving in head first. “Excellent,” he said as he led her down a few hallways until they were in a secluded lounge room. Her arm around his felt comfortable, like a familiar feeling he’d longed for again. “And you think I don’t miss you? If so then you’re awfully mistaken,” he told her. When he was positive that no one had followed them or anyone was out in the hallway he pushed her against the wall and placed a hand on her waist. “We could cause some trouble right now, if you’d like.” He smirked at her as he leaned a little closer to her. “Or, I can stop right now. And we can pretend like we actually want to catch up and chat about our drab lives. The choice is yours.”

Of course the red head loved any sort of party. What was to hate about them? Everyone got together, celebrated something, and had a reason to dress up. New Years just happened to come with lots of shiny sparkly things, and Anna was on cloud nine with it. Making her way through the dance floor she kept her champagne glass above her to keep from bumping it around too much to spill. The end of the year had her a bit emotional as she really had a moment to reflect on everything. The only thing recently that felt like she managed to hold on tightly too was the man at the end of her destination. Even if her skin was crawling with guilt. “Hans!” She giggled as she looped her arm around his and smiled up at him. “Do I get the honors of meeting you at midnight? Maybe sneak out of here.. to get a chocolate cake or something! Start the new year off right” She was only teasing, a little , the idea of just running off at midnight to do something completely off the walls did grab her attention nicely. || @thirteenthwestergaard​

Hans had been spending most of the evening with his fiancée. He’d danced with her, had a few glasses of champagne (perhaps a few too many,) but his mind was elsewhere. As much as he tried to seem like he was enjoying himself he wasn’t. Not very much, at least. When Anna looped her arm through his he smiled down at her and wrapped his arm around her waist. “That sounds amazing,” he said, leaning a bit closer to her. “Do I get a sneak preview beforehand?” His grip on her waist tightened. “If that’s alright with you, that is.”

Daisy hated the idea of monogamy, and she despised even more that someone with so much potential as Hans had subscribed to it for what seemed like the rest of his life. “You know what I mean. I don’t like to see you so domesticated. Doesn’t suit you.” Though Anna wasn’t around, that didn’t mean that he could get away with just anything without people noticing. Powerful people, too, who had the opportunity to slander him. “Well, it’s up to you. Pick your poison. I’m sure you don’t get any of that nowadays: only the pure shit,” she said with a shudder from her shoulders. Daisy wasn’t entirely opposed to infidelity when she wasn’t the one committing it, but she wasn’t sure how far Hans was wiling to go.

“Don’t act so jealous now, Daisy.” Hans smirked at her before taking a sip of the champagne she had brought him. “Well, we already have drinks. I know this club, I can show you a more...private area. If that’s something you’re interested in. I don’t really think anyone will notice. Anna is off dancing with her friends and no one will miss you, will they?” His expression softened but his eyes had a devious look in them. One that was mostly reserved for Daisy. “We can go catch up. Get away from the crowd a little bit. I could use a breather, anyways.” He gestured for him to follow her, resisting the urge to just grab her hand like he normally would and walk away with her. “Maybe we can get into a little trouble too. Pick your poison now, princess.”

Hans had been one of Daisy’s most loyal visitors at Wonderland before he got engaged to some bland redhead. At least she had some money, but so did he, from how much he tipped her. Now, he was just as boring as his fiancee was, but Daisy liked to try and bring out the old Hans that she knew and loved whenever she got the chance. She usually only saw him in public settings, which was kind of fun, since it gave her the excuse to try and make a scene. “Where’s the carrot-top?” she asked as she approached him, handing him a glass of champagne to go with the one in her own. “Tell me you left her at home, I dare you. You should sometime,” she teased, hooking her arm through his. “You look like you could use a distraction either way. Lucky for you, I’m free.”

Before Hans had to pretend to live the life of a happily engaged man he was very self indulgent. Frequenting night clubs and bringing different girls home without so much as giving them his number. Daisy had made an impression on him though and she was his favorite at Wonderland, not that he would ever say that out loud. As much as she sometimes drove him insane he did enjoy her company. “Excuse me?” he asked, brows raised. “Not around right now, clearly.” He shrugged. It was easier to just...be himself with Daisy sometimes. “You act like I take her everywhere.” Hans rolled his eyes at her. “I’m blessed, truly. And what exactly do you mean by distraction? Please tell me it’s something worth my time.”

“My resolutions?” Pausing her mindless scrolling, the question asked something that Pacifica hadn’t considered yet. She didn’t bother making promises for the new year because she was very confident (and privileged) she’d make them happen: If she wanted to try horseback riding, her parents would get her a horse the very next day and with the Northwest driving spirit, she’d make it into and win an equestrian championship. By a simple wanting and wishing, she’d bring on challenge that wasn’t so much as a challenge but rather a chore on her to-do list for the day and move onto whatever came next. Since she craved a conversation at all rather than viewing yet another meaningless post on social media, she’d entertained the idea of a resolution. “I guess I could make Pantone change their color of the year to my signature purple, get a feature in a magazine, and finally perfect the optimal posting time for maximum likes and views. What about you?”

It had been quite sometime since Hans had even thought of Pacifica. She was a brat and Hans knew it would be like listening to a broken record talking to her, but he was in the business of, well, doing business. Her parents could be key to that. They would be great people to make allies out of for anything in the future. Tonight though, Hans was mostly focused on trying to enjoy himself. He still put up his everyday façade to hide any deceit. “Wow, wouldn’t that be something,” Hans said. “You could really get somewhere. Social media is crazy these days and people love getting sucked into it. You’d be adored by even more people.” He offers her a friendly smile. “I don’t really know. I suppose advance in my career a bit more. We’ll see how that all pans out, but something a little more would be nice is all.” He shrugged and took a sip of his champagne. “Other than wanting all that though, how have you been? It’s just been so long since I’ve seen you.”

It wasn’t a shock that Anna had so many things running through her mind, but it was the holiday. She couldn’t go spilling selfish thoughts across a perfectly clean floor without knowing it would ever be cleaned up. So she did her best to just keep doing the next right thing. It was a drunk night to live out whatever was lingering in her and she would go with that. Jim hadn’t made any attempts to reach out or talk about that night, and she shouldn’t either… right? Not when she had what she did right here. And that’s what she was focusing on now that everything was out of her system. And someone was.. putting in the effort for her. Standing on the ladder as she put a few decorations on the tree she hummed along with the Christmas music playing in the background. Reaching up to try and get the perfect spot before half falling into the tree. “Hans! … Hans! I’m about to become the tree help!” She let out with an echoing laugh.” || @thirteenthwestergaard​

Hans had been distracted, to say the least. When Anna suggested to put the tree up in his house he wasn’t going to deny her. How could he? Hans was supposed to be the charming and loving fiancé he promised Anna would be. Yet, his mind was haunted with thoughts of Sabrina. He couldn’t help but think it was Sabrina he should be having a few too many cocktails with while putting up a tree. Yet, when he heard Anna’s voice yelling as she fell into the tree he was quickly snapped from his thoughts and jumped to catch her. When his arms were securely around her waist he tried to carefully lift her from the ladder. Maybe he really did have too much to drink because before he knew it he was stumbling backwards and falling onto his back with Anna still in his arms. He let out a small groan as his body made impact with the floor then looked up at Anna and smiled. “I saved you,” he said with a small laugh. “Are you okay, my love?” He pushed some hair from her face, but kept his other arm securely around her waist. “You must be more careful. I can’t have you getting hurt on my watch.” He pressed a soft kiss to her forehead but felt nothing as he did so. “I’d say this is the perfect time for a small break. What do you say?”
