I had to sign up to follow some great blogs I had read... so I figured I might create myself a blog to promote cool things that I'm discovering, perhaps debate some of the silliest things that annoy me... or something I usually complain about during coffee breaks, train rides etc...
Since writing my first blog, I have decided to write about topics surrounding Entrepreneurship in the Web, Tech Trends and perhaps even Politics (mainly UK) and the Economy.
I live and work in Berlin, my interests are mainly focused on the things that surround the world I work in... "boooring!" you might say - but my work is extremely cool :D I also enjoy taking in some of the culture on my doorstep and getting away to other cities and countries.

... because the next generation of British "privileged" will all have ISAs - if I want my kid to be able to shelter his/her inheritance, all I have to do is open an ISA in their name.
Cash ISA ÂŁ15k for 21 years at current (historic low rate - 5 year fixed at 4%) = ÂŁ489,865.76
Excluding inflation, this almost puts them in todays 1% group! ... and we worry about student debt! :D
BTW: I would use ISAs too if I still lived in the UK - not sure I would be able to afford 15k a year though!

"... had I been in France today, I do not know if I would have wanted to march together with Angela Merkel and David Cameron – much less with Netanyahu and outright Nazis such as Viktor Orban."
15 years ago I would have joined in with a big banner telling them my thoughts! Today I'm disgusted and deflated :(
Jacques Peretti investigates why the super-rich were drawn to Britain.
I wanted to watch something before going to sleep. Now I can't sleep...Â
I'm sick of so many things... Watching this will make you also feel sick (UK only sorry - so get a VPN!).Â
I am (and feel) so lucky in life, but I know that too many people don't share my fortune (and I'm not talking about money!). I am distracted by so many things, including that I sway between hating the fact that most people don't give a shit about anything other than their own little interests (again, not talking about money), that we need to all find some common ground if things are going to change... that things will never change, that there could be hope and, no, there is no hope.
If people aren't too busy dreaming of what's in their own shitty rat race for themselves, then they are brain washed into thinking we need to expel people who don't fit their ethnic, religious, national profile or whatever the fuck image of contributing member of "society"! (For surely these strange foreign people are the reason for our misery...)
And if people aren't busy being ignorant racists, we'll make them ignorant racists by giving them Fox fucking news bullshit, or just plain je-suis-fucking-Charlie (but don't mention how I govern/dictate in my land) badges to keep them either worried about the bloody foreigners or just make them think we are protecting their right to freedom of speech (just don't try to use that freedom to express your feelings of offence!!!)
It is time we looked in the mirror.Â
It is time that WE (tech people) innovate and disrupt the democracy space, because the usual guys have had their time and fucked around for way too long!
It is time we decided which debates are important, based on what is REALLY trending.
It is time we had a platform to engage in our society - not politics - and not to drive advertising models.
It is time we start to remember that we are 7bn+ in this family on earth and we're all fucked if we can't even look out for our neighbours.
Where do we start?
If only there were a multi-billion dollar exit, perhaps someone would give a shit...
P.S. I know that we're not all bad and that there are people who try to make a difference, but come on...
P.P.S. I'm atheist, but thankful for the religious nuts who care for our poor, elderly etc... while so many people ridicule their gods.
P.P.P.S. Before we get on to Catholic priests and kids or Sharia Law or any other stupid bonkers topic, just remember that our prisons are full of nutcases who didn't need religion to justify their cause. For every person, there's at least one arsehole!
I remember discussing this issue when I decided to stop developing and move into a more product focussed role. From the moment I started working in the industry, I had no doubt that I was good, but I knew some people had a passion for it that I could not match - I'm too social! One thing this report fails to consider is, that these programmers who burn out may, ultimately, have burned out anyway - regardless of the job. There is nothing healthy about sitting at home alone playing games or coding - we all need some social time! The guys I've witnessed burn out, were probably a little unstable to start with. That said, I know a few developers who somehow manage to do it all! Bastards! :D P.S. Programmers are also human - they're all different!

Berliners were recently invited to vote on re-nationalising the power network... Berliners voted to keep the grid in private hands - and some people say this sucks!
For those who say this sucks:
- Berlin's debt per capita is 10% higher than Detroit, before considering the cost of re-nationalisation.
- Berlin's authorities announced delays measured in years just days before the planned opening of their new airport.
Why should we trust these guys will do a better job of running the grid?
I've become a massive fan of Evernote and really think they are on to something, so I'm looking forward to seeing what Google (Keep) can do in this space.
The reason I'm backing Evernote (or perhaps Keep) is that we all generate so many thoughts about the things we see or possess... These may be one-time opinions, they may be ideas, they may just be snapshots of data.
Evernote is the central place where most of my thoughts and links and things can be stored and found right now. Given we can automate this process too (perhaps Evernote need to push their API a little harder ;D), I really can imagine a central repository becoming our centre for the internet of things - but who will own it? :)

When you see the worst of something, sometimes you want to know the best as well. Now you can!  How?  Well, all you gotta do is topsy-turvy that motherfckr. A small arrow on the upper right corner lets you know that a best or worst list has an equal and opposite list. You gotta flip it.

Now it is official. 6Wunderkinder raises another round of financing to build out their coming product Wunderkit. After a seed round by HTGF and a follow-on round by T-Venture, Atomico today announced the investment of $4.2M into the Berlin based startup. Atomico was founded in...
For those who have read up on this (Amen vs. Gründerszene) spat, it is interesting to see that despite some valid points from Gründerszene, Joel Kaczmarek is clearly willing this startup to fail based on his personal beef with Felix... The statement from Joel that the article was planned for a long time shows that this is BS - why would he have argued to post this particular post earlier? Would these statistics have been available? Clearly NOT...
I believe in Amen (so I'm bound to side with them) and would love to see it integrated into Places pages or online shopping portals one day, thanks to it's no-nonsense approach to letting people express themselves - I mean, who has time to read full reviews? Associated Amens would give me much more info and perhaps I could Amen or Hell No a statement after checking into a place or buying a product. This is the big difference to something like Twitter and it really gives them an edge in terms of making something of the service and, more importantly, making money!
My message to Joel - get off your downer, because if you want to be writing about anything in the future, you depend on the success of guys like these... They keep you in a job!

Amen vs. GrĂĽnderszene: Round 2!
Today GrĂĽnderszene, one of the biggest German tech blogs, publicly addressed the accusations Amen founder Felix Petersen (one of the most well known German internet entrepreneurs) made against their editor in chief, Joel Kaczmarek. Recap: TechBerlin had first...
