They do let her and show her to be pretty on Argo, but I still feel like thatβs an intentional contextual choice. Moreso showing the beauty of Argo, youth, and innocence on Karaβs face.
Sheβs still not particularly made up on Argo or anywhere in the film, which is fairly unique for female superheroes. (Does Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers just wake up with mascara, eyeliner, lipgloss, highlighter, and brow pencil already on?) Actually in most of the film, I cannot tell that Milly has any makeup on at all.
Which makes the little bit of mascara and blush she does have on as Kara on Argo stand out for me. It was likely just to try to make the actress look younger without having to hire someone to play young Kara while already having a young actress in most of the movie (which because of child labor laws limits filming schedules and usually provides tutorage to the child star on a film of this size) but itβs still noticeably different to the Kara we see in the rest of the movie. Especially when otherwise it seems the only makeup Milly has on at all in the movie is grime or injury makeup after fights.
