"Well, I was flying around, and I guess someone didn't like that, so he grabbed me. I managed to get away, but my wings ripped, a-and I fell. Pin found me, and then we found you," Thimble explained. For such a tough soldier, she sounded almost childlike at that moment.
Thimble felt her wings knit back together and the pain disappear. Oh, how good that felt! She sighed in relief. Her smile lit up her entire face.
She saw the spell singe Pin's fur. Uh oh, she thought, that ain't good. She felt Pin writhe around in discomfort, trying to scratch the burn. She braced herself a little to avoid falling off. She noticed that Pin couldn't quite reach the burnt fur, so she scratched the fur and skin for him, since she could reach.
"Shh. It's okay, buddy. I've got you. I know it hurts. It'll go away, I promise," she murmured. She looked up at Wick.
"What happened?" she asked, "And why did that hurt Pin?" Not that she wasn't grateful, she was just concerned for the little fox that brought her to him.
