Merry Christmas from The Zoots, we hope to see you at one of our shows soon www.thezoots.com/showdates
Christmas party band
The Zoots were honoured to asked to perform at the Salisbury Christmas lights switch on on 21st November. The council were looking for local Wiltshire acts to perform and we were super keen to be involved. Luckily for us photographer Ash Mills was in the audience to take some photos.

Hello! It’s been a while. Sorry about that.
The Zoots have been busier than ever with our theatre shows in 2019 and Harriet’s art business is going really well.
November is usually the time to learn new songs, catch up on sleep and plan for the season ahead, but this year has been quite different. Our Sounds of the 60’s show at Beccles was our third gig in a row and our fifth show in 8 days and our 80th show of the year!
Here’s what happened at Beccles. We left HQ at 1130am for the five hour drive to Suffolk.
When we arrived the staff were all very helpful. Maureen and Lesley made us all cups of tea coffee with biscuits and after a five hours in the van it made such a big difference! We were so pleased to have a sell out crowd and we got the show off to a fantastic start with the help of John the tech and Matt doing the sound.
Beccles Public Halls was built in 1785 so it has to be one of the oldest venues we’ve played this year. It was beautiful! The Zoots were very lucky to have photographer Alan Lyall at our Sounds of the 60’s show in November at our show who kindly provided all of these great photographs.
It was a very special show as it was Ed Scott’s first theatre performance with the band on bass guitar. A brand new bass, a brand new Zoots suit and a 10 year old pair of Zoots boots, Ed looked and sounded the business! Some of you may recognise Ed as he’s been part of the band as our sound engineer since 2017 and has now joined the band on bass guitar. He’s a great guy and we are looking forward to the next chapter!
Here’s some photos of Harriet during our Sounds of the 60s show.
It was amazing to see a packed venue in an area that is so far away from Wiltshire. It was fantastic to have our friends Danny & Margaret Bramhald in the audience. We have performed for all their family parties, both their 50th birthday parties and their sons 21st Birthday party. They met us back in 2013 and have stayed in touch ever since. They must have seen us at least 20 times!
Very special friends in the front row was Barbara and Steve McKintyre who have supported us and followed us up and down the country for two years. They have been to see us in Lancashire, Norfolk, Suffolk travelling all over the country to see us play. They’ve lost count of how many times they’ve seen us! Thank you so much to these wonderful people for supporting us!
The Zoots has been running since 2009 and it’s amazing to think that we’ve done 1000 shows since and travelled to over 30 countries in that time. This year has been the most challenging doing so many public concerts but it feels amazing touring our show up and down the country, bringing it to so many counties, so many people.
We really genuinely appreciate every single like on Facebook, the sharing of events, buying tickets for the show. Thank you so much to everyone who donated to our chosen charity of ‘Kids out’.
We will be back soon with part 2 of the Beccles Public Halls show.
Thank you so much to Alan Lyall for taking the stage photos.
Coming up, we have one of our biggest shows, to an estimated 16,000, at The Salisbury Christmas Light switch on Thursday 21st November. We hope to see some of you there.
Keep up to date with all The Zoots adventures on Instagram and Facebook

The Zoots new Sounds of the 60s promo video!
Sounds of the 60s Volume 1 CD A live recording from The Zoots concert at Norden Farm in December 2018 1 Johnny B Goode (Live) 2:55…
Having grown up in the Windsor area, the Royal Theatre was always the venue I have really wanted to play at. I have performed at almost every possible live music venue in Berkshire and the Theatre Royal is the premier venue for miles around! I had attended many shows at the Theatre Royal including The Searchers and many Pantomimes at Christmas time. If you haven’t been to Windsor before; the Royal Theatre is a beautiful Edwardian building with 633 seats and is situated just opposite Windsor Castle. Now The Zoots were playing there!
We had a thorough sound check and we got ready for the show. I was particularly nervous about the show as most of my family, most of my friends and pretty much everyone I knew from the area who was planning to be there! One of the things I was most worried about was how I would have enough time after the show to hello to everyone!
We were also really excited as the Royal theatre looked awesome! As we entered the stage at 730pm we couldn’t believe how many people were packed inside the theatre, it was amazing, especially for me as I recognised almost everyone in the entire crowd! There was old school friends, cousins, ex-neighbours, ex-colleagues it was a very special evening! Also in the audience was my youth cricket coach from Windsor Victoria (David Longmore) who gave me me first guitar many moons ago. It was magical to see my niece Tallulah in the audience! She had a beaming smile all through the first half!
We started the show with Tommy playing the double bass and started with early 60s hit songs including Barbara Ann which was originally written by The Regents. We also performed Wonderful World by Sam Cooke and Do ah Diddy Manfred Mann. Luckily for us my brother Martyn was on hand to help us to run the videos. All the videos looked fab! Thank you Martyn.
There was something very unique about performing at The Theatre Royal, not only because I knew most of the audience but the band has been through alot to get to this point and this felt like a real landmark in our career. This kind of moments always go past so quick, it really was fantastic. Here is a video of Surfin USA kindly captured by Gemma Alsop .

Towards the end of the night everyone was on their feet dancing. For a Sunday night this was a real Zoots party!! We were joined on stage by our sound guy Ed.

In this video you can see the entire theatre on their feet, it was totally amazing.

Below is a picture of me with my lovely family all of who all came to show. They all have been a tremendous support throughout my career. A special thanks to my brother Martyn who had to operate our videos as the venue weren’t able to provide anyone.
It was so lovely to see lots of old friends and family, here’s a picture of me with my Auntie June & Auntie Doreen and Uncle Nobby who have also been to see us play at Lakeside many a time!
It was a tremendous night and nearly a complete sell out! It was highest attendance of a Sunday music show all year!
Thank you all so much for reading, I wish you all a wonderful festive period and I hope to see some of you at Norden Farm in Maidenhead on Saturday 8th December or at one of our Christmas shows. We are also going to be on BBC Berkshire at 3pm on Wednesday 5th December.
Don’t forget although we are playing more theatre now you can still book The Zoots for private parties too.
Thank you to everyone who came to the show and all The Zoots Harriet, Tommy, Ed, Adam and Ian for working so hard to make the show!
Thank you for all your support!

80s tribute show
What a fantastic evening we had in Eastbourne performing our Sounds of the 80s tribute show at Eastbourne bandstand on Friday 27th April 2018. We were honoured to be chosen as the opening act for the season and despite the rain, it was an awesome night! We had two huge Rubix Cubes, fancy dress, Zoots say RELAX T-shirts, dancing, singing and even firework finale!
80s tribute show
The 80s hold some of my fondest and earliest memories. The decade will always be my most treasured decade. Earlier in my career I was lucky enough to support some 80s legends including Nik Kershaw, T’PAU, Tony Hadley, Bananarama, Billy Ocean, Keith Harris and Orville, Chesney Hawkes and many more. I had been really looking forward to our first 80s show in a while and really enjoyed the preparation with the costumes and song choices.
After we set up all the equipment we had some lovely Fish and Chips (thank you so much to Elaine and Phil for organising this!). We then got out our 80s outfits and got ready for the show.
We started off the show in a ‘Back to the Future’ type introduction appearing through lots of smoke and running up to the stage through the sell out crowd.

The Zoots perform their Sounds of the Sixties Show at Huntington Hall, Worcester
It’s the first time The Zoots have performed Huntington Hall in Worcester, we’re really excited to be here. Ticket sales have been doing great and it looks set to be a great night. I love how well our Sounds of The Sixties poster stands out! 60s Tribute in the Midlands.
60s Tribute in the Midlands
Huntington Hall is a converted chapel, with a built in stage, tailored to fit with the space, and a cool gallery seating area around the top.
‘Huntington Hall is Worcester’s premier live music and entertainment venue. Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel was a thriving Methodist church in the early 18th Century. By 1970, the building closed as a chapel until the late 1970s when it was purchased by the City Council with the view of redeveloping the site. With financial support from the City and County Councils, Huntingdon Hall re-opened in 1987 as a concert venue. 25 years later and Huntingdon Hall is a leading venue for folk music, is becoming increasingly well known for great comedy and welcomes all types of entertainment; classical music, jazz and blues as well as spoken word events.’ http://www.worcesterlive.co.uk/about-us.asp
We arrive early to load in our equipment and set-up and soundcheck. The room is a great size, with a large stage, projector and cool lighting. Set up smooth and we run some tracks so that sound guy Ed can make sure it’s sounding perfect!
Backstage is well lit, has comfy seats and a coffee machine, boy we were happy, but we didn’t have long to sit as it was nearly time for curtain up and the start of the show! Here’s a photo of Ed and Tommy enjoying a quick break.
60s Tribute in the Midlands
We warmed up our voices and changed into our outfits, it was time to go on.
Bursting onto the stage with our rendition of Chuck Berry’s ‘Johnny Be Goode’, had the audience up and cheering right away.
Set 1 was packed with so many hits from the sixties. It went so quickly! Before we knew it, it was time for the interval and quick outfit change for us.
Here’s a little video of the night:
