Note: I do NOT condone riding with half your body out the window, even if you have a good hold. It should not be done unless absolutely necessary, stay safe my friends

As this year comes to an end, I’d like to talk about something I started doing this year that was just supposed to be a one time thing but ended up being something I really enjoy: backyard camping. I live out in the woods, and have a decent sized yard. It’s not huge, but I can set up my tent about 50 feet (~15 meters) from the house and be right by the woods. It seems kind of lame, but I remain 100% self sufficient with only what fits in my bag. It’s a great way to test clothing and equipment in authentic conditions, and I can try different “themes” and such. I did it in February, April, May, August, September, November, and I’ll be doing it again a few days after the New Year. The first time I did it, there was 21 inches (~53 cm) of snow and it was chilly. Great opportunity to test some cold weather clothing and solo camping in such conditions. My last session was to have an all-night fire, just sit by the fire all night and keep it going, see what may present itself to me overnight. It’s almost the perfect test environment, because if anything goes wrong or I need to bail for some reason, the house is right there. All in all, a great thing to do (if you have a space to do it), and I greatly enjoy it. Happy New Year everyone, may 2022 bring the best for all
Nothing beats a nice, hot cup of tea on a chilly November morning

This is from the horror manga Ibitsu by Haruto Ryo, and it’s truly creepy to say in the least. If you’re into horror I highly recommend reading it
Ellie is definitely not a morning dog. And don’t worry, this photo was taken in Maryland in July so she wasn’t cold sleeping in my tent like that
Haven’t done this in a long time but it’s gear review time:
So I went camping this weekend and decided to give my wire saw a second chance. For those of you who are unfamiliar with a wire saw, it is a thin wire that has an almost serrated texture to it and you’re supposed to pull it back and forth across a surface to cut through it, it’s essentially a compact and lightweight saw. In theory, it sounds like a great idea. But in reality, it’s awful. It cuts through wood decently at best and has a tendency to get stuck. I think I spent more time getting it unstuck from the wood than actually cutting through it. My verdict: a wire saw actually sucks but it’s better than nothing

Reject modernity
Embrace tradition
To those of you who like/reblog my posts and don’t follow:
That’s perfectly fine, I appreciate it. I mean, if you found a gold bar in a trash can, would you keep the whole trash can or just the gold bar?
Someone: why do you like purple so much?
Me: uuuhh I just think it’s a cool color
So, back to my love of customizing and personalizing stuff, I bought this big 48 oz (1400 ml) water bottle to absolutely COVER with stickers just for fun (and for legitimate outdoor use), just to have another personalized piece of equipment

“Yeah I’m into the Chernobyl/Stalker (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) subculture, how could you tell?”
The first picture is a few books I either have read or am reading now relating to the Stalker bit, the second picture is my Ukrainian “ЗАРАЖЕНО” (translation: INFECTED) danger sign and my DVD of the 1979 film “Stalker”, the third picture is obviously my Hard Rock Cafe Chernobyl shirt, and the Ukrainian text at the top says “Save the Planet”, and the fourth picture is my S.T.A.L.K.E.R. patch done in an anime art style with the words that make up the acronym
And here’s a book written/published in 1987, the title tells you everything you need to know.
Somewhere I have a few S.T.A.L.K.E.R. patches that came from Ukraine and there’s a radiation sign patch, one that just says “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.”, and one for the Chernobyl power plant
Update: I found the patches!
I included the back side of the envelopes they came in because of the Ukrainian text on them
One thing I have always loved for some reason is personalizing/customizing my equipment. My short trip backpack and a hoodie of mine have hook and loop <Velcro> areas for patches and I just love putting different assortments of patches on my backpack and putting different patches on my hoodie when I wear it. There’s plenty of great and not-so-great patches out there
Note: my patches are NOT intended to promote, endorse, or display any political and/or religious movement or idiology. If there are any questions or concerns about one or a few patches I’d be happy to clarify
