[[ @faerieofdeceit here ^.^ Blorbos you request and blorbo you shall get! You don't mind me being detailed just for the intro, right? No? Cool! Fuck timelines, spawns my child ]]
It was the middle of the evening, the perfect time for reading. As proven by the Fount of Knowledge sat in his own library, quietly reading something one of his fellow virtues strongly recommended him. Though, before long, he had to look up from his book, as a confused mutter was heard from an unfamiliar little faerie cookie - who looked to be maybe 8 or 9 - was suddenly stood before him. They were glancing around at their surroundings, visibly bemused and possibly a little frightened. Okaayy... Odd.
[[ Yup, I had to use the "They appeared in the past out of nowhere!" thing but whateverrr anyway THE BABY IS HERE!! This was really hard to write for some reason, normally I do longer but I had literally nothing ]]
ā¦A child??
It was rather late for a child to be here, most had gone home⦠and this one looked⦠well, a little frightened. Had they gotten lost? Wandered away from their parents while visiting? Trying to recall anyā¦
But nope, he couldnāt remember a child like this entering, any questions they mightāve asked⦠or their parents.
He put a mark in his book, closing it and putting it down, slowly approaching the child⦠trying not to startle the child more than they already were, halting a little bit away.
āHello, little one. What brings you here?ā He questioned, folding his hands in front of him and crouching to be eye level with them, āWhere are your parents?ā
Taking in the library around them, it was clearly somewhere they didn't recognise. It looked like no place they'd ever been, seeing as they had never left their kingdom before. Compared to the Faerie Library it was... very different! If they had to guess, the faerie they'd usually run to when in some form of distress, Elder Faerie, would not be here. So they were to fend for themself this time, apparently... At the sound of a voice, they quickly turned their head towards it... No wings, no silver, exceedingly unfamiliar... They were definitely not at home. āUuhh... W-who are you?ā They had no answer to his first question, and therefore didn't answer. ā...I don't really... have any parents.ā
Hm? They didnāt recognize himā¦?? Was he really spending that much time in the spire, becoming unknown? Well, curious. Interesting.
On to the next thing⦠No parents⦠Well, thatād make this a bit more difficult. Did they abandon them here? ā¦It didnāt matter. The real question is⦠what to do with this little one?
He lowered himself until he was sitting on the floor, giving a soft smile, āI am the Fount of Knowledge, and you may be?ā He questioned, tilting his head to the side. āHow did you get here, little one?ā
Strangely, they didn't feel entirely threatened by his presence. A rarity for them, Elder Faerie being one of the very few they actually feel safe around... They're used to others being bothered by their mere existence, so... They tugged at the white bows they wore on the wrists, watching the somewhat blurry figure before them had what was likely him wondering what on earth to do here. The name they were given seemed to surprise them. That couldn't be right... āThe Fount of Knowledge...? But Elder Faerie said that he...ā They stopped, deciding now wasn't the best time to bring it up and instead provided their own name. āI-I'm... Passion Flower...ā Well, that is the question. How did they get here? One second they were... hiding... under a tall willow tree, the next, they were in a random library āI don't really know, sorry...ā
ā¦What were they going to say? Elder faerie? What did he share?ā It didnāt matter, he trusted the old faerie to say nothing but good things.
āWell, itās a pleasure to meet you, Passion flower,ā He hummed, giving a slight bow
Hmhmn⦠āItās quite alright, donāt fear. The cookie world is⦠strange and magical, itās rare for cookies to get teleported but not impossibleā¦ā
Then he slowly stood up, smoothing out his robes and resting his hand on his chin, thinking, āAre you from the faerie kingdom? I know the way back there, if youād like to return.ā
They lightly nodded their head, their nervous frown turning into a little smile. His kindness was rather refreshing, considering what they were used to. āYou too, Fount...ā They didn't know much about magic, and knew even less how to conjure it themselves, but they knew at least that was true. They used to read about the arcane and such, but due to their vision worsening, their knowledge was forced to be limited. With a shaky exhale, they confirmed his question. They really did not want to be there right now... āI am... But I would rather be elsewhere for a while.ā Besides, returning to the kingdom right now wouldn't exactly take them back properly.
Dont want to return to the kingdom⦠How odd!
Hmhm⦠Well, it didnāt matter. If they didnāt want to return, he wouldnāt force them. Instead walking over and picking up his staff, returning back.
āThen how about you stay here?ā He tilts his head to the side, āThis place has some spare rooms you can stay in, if you would like. And⦠once you are comfortable returning home, I can guide you in the way back.ā
After all⦠this place was not exactly suitable for children, any normal child would⦠swiftly get bored of all of the books and the lack of things to do. Theyād probably want to return eventually. Right?
Their expression softened, he was allowing them to stay? Okay, good... They took another look around while they listened to the Fount. This library was a bit bigger than the quaint one in the Faerie Kingdom, they liked it. Their own library was one of their favourite places, so this new one brought a smile to their face. āThat's very nice of you. Thank you...ā They only hoped that Elder Faerie wouldn't grow too worried about where they were. They just needed a break from the constant anxiety they felt while wandering through their own kingdom. He'd understand. Passion Flower was in no way a 'normal child'. For many reasons. But they were rather down to earth, much calmer than most children. They honestly preferred books and calm music, boredom was sort of rare for them.
āOf course, just follow me,ā He hummed, starting to walkā Keeping his pace slower than heād normally walk so the little one could keep upā¦
Hmhhmn. Now it was time to think⦠He should figure out what kind of magic brought them here⦠Was it another cookies or did the world demand this child come here?
He shook his head, he could worry about that later, when he didnāt have a child trailing after him.
āI must warn you, it may not always be so quiet, cookies come⦠quite often to ask questions,ā He cringed, remembering the⦠odder questionsā And some of the⦠not so child appropriate ones, āBut the library is normally quiet, no cookie should disturb you if you go there⦠Do you have anything you canāt⦠or shouldnāt eat?ā
They started walking behind him, instead of beside him, keeping their eyes down so they could clearly see where the Fount was walking. The blurriness of their vision made it difficult to determine where they were supposed to walk as to not walk straight into a wall or something. Their own thoughts were quite jumbled, understandably so. They couldn't say that they had been teleported away from home before. They were certainly less overwhelmed than they were when they arrived. But they weren't too fond of the fact they had absolutely no clue where they were. The Fount's voice brought them out of their own head, āOh! That's... That's okay. Fae can be quite loud sometimes... Mostly when we have something to celebrate, I normally don't take part in those, though...ā Personally they never saw the appeal. Too noisy, too crowded. āI like that.... I often spend my time in my kingdom's library, so...ā They silently hoped they weren't sharing a little too much. āI don't think so, no. There's nothing I've had a poor reaction to, at least.ā
He nods along as they speak, listening before nodding, āYou are more than welcome to take any of the books youād like! There are⦠more than a few options,ā He couldnāt help his smile⦠a few was the biggest understatement, āTheres a place you can grab a map at any of the entrances, in case youāre looking for some specific genre, like magic or if you prefer fictional books, things like that.ā
He slows down a little more⦠looking at the different doors, rooming⦠Ah, this one should be free. He stops, opening the door and checking inside⦠before moving inside, holding the door open for them.
āIn here. This room is free for you to stay in for nowā¦ā He hummed, closing his eyes, āIf you require clothes or anything like that, give the word and I can summon some,ā He opened his eyes, giving a little⦠magical demonstration, a pair of clothes appearing on the dresser.
That seemed to brighten their mood. They were going to ask if they could regardless, but it's good to know. They'd... figure out how to read them one way or another. āMagic could be useful... I can do something that feels like magic, but I don't know...ā Did they really want to learn more about that? Honestly, it kind of scared them. Seeing he had slowed down again, they made sure to back up a little for a moment. They'd really rather avoid bumping into him. He was quite nice, they didn't want to become a nuisance already. āThank you, it's nice of you to let me stay for a while.ā For once they could definitely avoid the stares they got. And... also avoid the confusion of being in the kingdom at the wrong time.
āAh, you have magic?ā He chirped, perking up a little, it was always fascinating hearing about other cookies magic, how they used it⦠āYouāre more than welcome to take any of the books on magic, if youād like something in particular, give the word, Iām certain I can find it, or give a little information on it.ā
He calms down, putting his hands in front of him again, āItās no problem,ā He hummed, starting to walk outside, it might be best for them to adjust alone, āYouāre welcome to stay for awhileā When youāre ready to return, tell me and I will guide you back to the faerie kingdom.ā

Right?

- Sapphire Grape Faerieling (Grapevine)
(Giggling deviously.. alright, weāll see if I can cook something upā¦.)
āThen letās go,ā He hummed, adjusting his grip on the boy aaand,,, off they go!!
*He smiles brightly, giggling as the fount gives him a gentle peck on the forehead, tearing up slightly as he sniffles.*
ā..You really are the greatest cookie on earthbread!!!ā
*His voice remains overjoyed, his tail wagging happily behind him and his wings flapping harshly.*
- Sapphire Grape Faerieling (Grapevine)
(GOOOOD THEY MAKE ME HURT BUT I LOVE THEM SO MUCH makes me wanna approach your shadow milk blog for angst of the two. :3)
He canāt help his smile, being careful as he wiped away the little boys tears, and shaking his head.
āI think that title goes to you, Grapevine,ā He pat his head again, keeping his grip on him a little tighter with the wing flapping, didnāt want him to topple out of his arms or anything.
āSo, shall we go find your mother? And show her what youāve gotten?ā He questions, gently tapping the book, āOr would you like to stay here longer?ā
*He paused, blinking a little as if caught in shock.. before his tail began to wag vehemently, smiling brightly as his wings fluttered.*
āOkay!!! :Dā
*He said with a giggle, nuzzling the fount just slightly.*
āI.. thought you would be mad.. Iām glad youāre not!!! If anything I thought youād get weirded out-.. :[ā
- Sapphire Grape Faerieling (Grapevine)
āOf course I am not!ā He pauses in his steps, holding Sapphire just a little closer, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
āIf anything I am honored that you view me in such a way, I promise⦠And I also promise to keep looking after you, Grapevine. If you ever need assistance with anything, come to me, I will be happy to help youā¦ā
*He laughs happily as the fount throws him up in the air, his wings flapping happily as when he's caught he hugs the fount, his tail wagging happily behind him.*
*He pauses as he speaks, only just realizing what he said, pulling back with an apologetic tone.*
".S..sorry, I didn't-.. Sorry, Mr. Fount..ā
- Sapphire Grape Faerieling (Grapevine)
(Ah yes the trope of accidentally calling your parental figure "dad" GOD ITS THE CUTEST THING EVER I LOVE THEM SO MUCH also hi l'm alive Imfao)
ā¦
!!!
Did he just call him Dad?
Dadā¦
āOh, donāt apologize, Grapevine,ā He murmurs, his heart⦠or whatever the cookie equivalent of that is, squeezing in his chest, both arms wrapping around him in a hug.
Internally? Itās sounding a little something like eeeeeeeeeee!!!!
āPlease, little one, donāt apologize,ā He hummed, pulling back just a little bit from the hug, āI have no issues with you calling me such a title, alright? So please, no apologies here, you did nothing wrong.ā

āStudied? Like what we do for school??ā
*He says with a small head tilt and smile, his wings shimmering. It was interesting.. they looked normal, for the most part, all except the darkened tips, leading to a transparent wing pattern similar to that of a bats. Odd.. faerie wings didnāt usually look like that..*
*He laughs as he pats him, his purring becoming just a little louder as he does so, comfortable in the founts arms. He called him special!*
āIām special??? :0ā
- Sapphire Grape Faerieling (Grapevine)
(OH YEAH NO IāM A BIT BETTER NOW LMFAO, JUST GOTTA LAY DOWN AND REST š THANK YOOOU)
āMmhm!! A lot of different cookies do it to understand what might vary,ā He hummed, āLike in school⦠learn languages, magic, that sort of thing! Some keep doing it beyond school!ā
Hmmmn⦠Truly a unique caseā¦? Or was he even a faerie? Most faerie wings didnāt look like that⦠Hmn⦠Well, regardless of that, āYouāre the most special cookie around!ā He gently tossed him in the air, not very high, being sure to catch him and hold him close.
āSo, donāt forget that, okay? And if anyone tells you otherwise, you can tell them the all-knowing fount says so!!ā
āOohhh.. I would, but- for some reason, when I was baked I just- could fly right off the bat!!! Itās weird, cause I know the other faerielings had to learn how to use their wings.. but for me, I just- knew? Itās weird! I dunno why I did.. Sometimes theyāll flutter a bit much and I end up not being able to stop myself n accidentally ram into something but- Other than that, I just.. knew right away!ā
- Sapphire Grape Faerieling (Grapevine)
(Me when the changeling is changelinging without knowing.. also sorry for slow replies I got food poisoning š)
He blinks a couple times, tilting his head, studying his wings before giving a small shrug, āPerhaps some do know from baking! Or at least you are a rare case,ā He smiled, then squinted at him, like he was studying him, āPeerhaps you should be studied, little unique faerie!ā
He stopped, patting his head⦠Hm⦠Maybe heād look into it later, āItās fascinating⦠Most creatures have to learn how to fly⦠Hmm⦠A special boy, you are! Though, I believe everyone already knew you are definitely the most special little faerie.ā
