(I understand if you don't want to respond to a heavy topic like this, or if you don't read it at all)
Having a bit of a mental crisis recently... Is it so terrible to want a break from people for a while, without being teased for it? Sometimes when I come back, even when I know people are joking, it still hurts as though they mean it (I got called a waste of oxygen :( )...
Can time stretch in the Dreaming so I can stay a bit longer tonight? I need a break...
You are more than free to stay in my realm for a while longer, for I do understand the need to have a break from others, if only for just one moment. Even I get moments where I cannot stand the voices of those who are close to me, or their presence, which leads me to feel a bit of guilt for feeling that way. Hurtful words spoken in a laughing tone, meant in jest, can still hurt others, not matter how one utters them. So do not feel guilty for how hurt you feel when it happens, or wishing to step away for a bit : sometimes, it is the best solution, for you and the others in your life, for it could prevent more hurt.
Thank you, I needed to hear that :').
Do the Endless know whether or not soulmates are real?
Curiosity has once more got my brain on a quest for knowledge.
Hmmmm...Perhaps Desire, or another one of my siblings could answer that question for you, for it is....not within my field of knowledge, I'm afraid.
Okay :). Have a nice day, though I have a lot of questions and may be back with some more later, if that's alright?
Pure agony... Long, painstaking hours spent reading away in the library, hoping to find a solution to this madness, only to find none. what will it take for the nightmare to cease? a blood sacrifice? a knife through a store-brought glitter slime to serve as a warning?
Perhaps if you sent the blob into a pocket dimension of sorts? It would still be in the Dreaming, but it would not be able to wreak havoc upon your realm.
I would have to do so from a safe distance, for there are high chances of it going oh so very wrong.
...Maybe you could make a bubble of sorts so that you're safe? Perhaps of a strong soap so that it can't get to you without burning away?
... No. I would rather not, for I would get associated with either the Fairy Godmother or the Good Witch.
That and I would look ridiculous.
Fair enough.

During the party, glittering, viscous fluid starts to drip down the walls. A thinner version of the slime that had covered the library books. The music changes. "The Hustle" starts to play. When he examines the turntables they're encased in sparkling pink slime, although it appears to be just a remnant and not the creature itself.
... What is that you want, fiend?!! Show yourself at once!!!
The Dream Lord yelled, his eyes blazing as he stared at the glittering, viscous fluid that was dripping down the walls, his rage only growing the more that he saw more of the slime encase the turntables. Covering his ears, snarling from the music that had started playing, the King of Dreams loudly demanded that the source of this carnage showed itself, for the Endless had enough.
A huge pink disco ball dripping fist-sized chunks of sparkling goo descends from the ceiling. As the goo drips onto the floor in a puddle, it slowly coalesces into a 10'x10' gelatinous cube, shimmering in the reflected lights of the disco ball overhead.
The cube begins to dance menacingly toward the Dream King, schlepping forward and waving its pseudopods rhythmically.
... Oh great. So the cause of all this madness is....a disco...gelatinous cube...creature. Terrific, fantastic, even. And of course, one of those metal trap cages that have room for a bait couldn't possibly contain you, for you would simply ooze right out of it. As if it couldn't be worse, the turntables are covered in ooze, the walls have glitters for days and the books have been ruined. I am very tempted to send whoever it is that had the nerve to bring you into my castle a glitter bomb to see how they like having to clean up for days Beyond annoyed at this point, the Dream Lord then proceeded to tie his hair into a bun before retrieving a mop and a bucket full of soapy water, muttering curses under his breath as he began to clean before shooting the creature a glare Unless you wish to be soaked in soap water, I suggest you remain where you are until I have decided your fate.
The song changes to "Carwash" and the ooze begins boogieing toward a startled Matthew. It leaves a slimy trail as it moves forward, before snapping out with a pseudopod and grabbing the raven, pulling him into its jelly-like body. A leisure suit and oversized gold chain materialize on Matthew while he floats in the goo, stuck, surrounded by other objects that the ooze has consumed.
... Alright, you have left me with no other choice. Beyond exasperated at this point and wishing for the foolishness to end so that he could finally get answers, the Dream Lord lifted the bucket full of water, soap and other cleaning products before throwing the contents of it at the ooze, hoping that it would be enough to stop it.
The water full of cleaning products splashes over the cube. The surface of the ooze starts to smoke and drip. The ooze begins to pulse with rage and funky beats. The acrid smell of burnt bubblegum permeates the room.
The ooze turns to the Dream King in rage and whips a glittering, smoking pseudopod at him. It catches around his ankle and the Cube tries to lift him upwards, ready to consume him.
The smell of burnt bubblegum that came from the wounded and clearly pissed off ooze caused the Lord of Dreams to cover his nose with his hand, frowning as he tried to come up with another plan to get rid of the issue but before he could try anything, the Endless let out a shocked yelp as he felt something grab his ankle and try to lift him up, causing him to trash around as he tried to grab his bag of sand, hoping that it would be enough to stop the Cube.
The ooze loses its grip on his ankle, and instead whips a pseudopod directly at the Dream King's head, flinging sparkly pink slime into his hair.
.... How dare you ruin my hair in this manner?!! Do you know just how many washes it is going to take me to get all of this out?!! Far too many!!! The Dream Lord shrieked at the ooze, his anger towards it growing the more that every attempt at getting it out of his hair with his hands kept making the situation so much worse
Traps the ooze in a glass jar, pulling Matthew out beforehand.
Honestly, why do I always walk into chaos?
Having dealt with glitter enough times, I begin cleaning it up in a way that actually leaves none of it behind.
Would you like assistance with you hair, Lord of Dreams?
The ooze is now the size of the ballroom. You're gonna need a bigger jar.
Matthew shakes himself, glad to be free of the slime (although it still coats his feathers and his adorable leisure suit). The huge cube turns its pseudopods toward the newcomer trying to "clean it up" vibrating with anger. The edges of the sparkly goop smoke and steam where the cleaning supplies touch it.
@king-of-dreams-and-nightmares
I notice the goop steaming due to the cleaning supplies, and begin using a spray bottle like one would with a cat.
"Away from the books. Lucienne has enough on her plate without your shenanigans."
I continue spraying the blob every time it gets near any of the bookshelves, knowing it won't be me getting rid of it, at least.

Thinking about crossovers right now.
If anyone is interested in working with me to write a crossover between The Sandman and Doctor Who, please let me know. I'm dying to know how the Doctor and Morpheus would interact. Especially 9, 10, or 11. I feel like 9 would start a sass war with Matthew or Morpheus, 10 might find Rose (dreams cross dimensions), and 11 would be wandering around like he does when he finds something interesting.
The writers block has been hitting hard y'all, so sorry to any of you who may have been waiting for part 3. Just been mentally dead :/. That and my brain is just doing the thing where too many ideas to focus on the one thing.

A fool is not a fool for falling in love, but a fool for believing that those which they love will love them back.
Petals and Pains
Part 2: Man of Your Dreams
Morpheus x Reader
Warnings: Reader has mental health issues (don't we all), swearing, angst (reader gets in their own head)
A/N: Chapters will be short for a while, I'm still trying to figure out how to write for them all. š
Your day, as usual, was worse than you had anticipated. It was as though whatever gods there may be had forsaken you from birth.
Just heard someone else call Hugh Jackman as Jack Hughman and now I'm laughing, I can't-
Sorry for not updating y'all, just got back from camping and am now a lobster. I should have part 2 of Petals and Pains out soon. <3
we need to bring back old school tumblr communication and im so serious. sending an ask to a mutual just to say hello. seeing three different asks in your inbox all asking how your dentist appointment went. seeing a post you think one of your mutuals would enjoy and tagging them/sending it to them in the dms. nowadays its just silently liking a post or (if youre feeling extreme) replying under posts. WHAT HAPPENED TO US!! we used to be a proper community!!!! #LetsBringWhimsyBack
reblog if you want ppl to send you random lil' asks

Headcanons for Dream of the Endless
Morpheus x Reader
A/N: I may do more of these at some point
I know several posts have already been made about the subject, and mine won't probably change anything, but I need to get it off my chest.
Iāve been sitting with a thought for a while, and I want to talk about it in a way thatās honest but not accusatory: interaction on Tumblr feels⦠increasingly fragile. And I say that as someone whoās been on both sides of it: posting as a writer, and engaging as a reader.
First: likes. I appreciate likes. I really do. A like is still someone taking a second to say āI saw this, I enjoyed it.ā Iām not trying to dismiss that at all. But Tumblr isnāt built around likes the way other platforms are. Likes are private. They donāt move a post. They donāt help it find new readers. And they donāt really give you any feedback beyond āsomeone was here.ā Which, again, matters, but itās also⦠quiet.
Reblogs are different. Reblogs are how Tumblr breathes. Theyāre how things travel, how fandom stays connected, how you stumble across a fic at 2am because it landed on your dash through three people you follow. A reblog is a public signal: āthis deserves space on my blog.ā Itās support, yes, but itās also circulation. When reblogs are rare, everything feels like it sinks instantly. You post, people like, and then it vanishes. Thatās not a moral failing on anyoneās part, itās just how the platform works.
Now, on the writer side, that silence can wear you down in a way thatās hard to explain unless youāve experienced it. Writing is time. Writing is brain space. Writing is emotional labor, even when the story is fun. And posting it publicly is another layer of vulnerability: youāre taking something you made and offering it up without knowing how it will be received. When the response is mostly quiet, likes but no comments, or a few likes and nothing else, itās easy to start second-guessing everything.
Did it hit? Did anyone finish it? Was it boring? Did I lose people halfway through? Was the pacing off? Did I tag wrong? Is the fandom just inactive? Am I just not⦠good enough?
And the thing is: writers donāt need constant praise. Weāre not asking to be worshipped (okay, that's a lie, worship us). But we do need signs of life. We need to know there are humans on the other side of the screen. Comments and reblogs are those signs. Theyāre the difference between āthis disappearedā and āthis connected.ā Even a short āI loved thisā or āthis line destroyed meā can fuel someone for days. Itās not about numbers, itās about being witnessed.
But I want to speak about the other side clearly too, because it matters: readers are not robots. Readers are also vulnerable. Commenting can be intimidating. Even if you loved something, you might worry youāll sound awkward, or too intense, or not articulate enough. You might not know what to say beyond a keyboard smash. You might be new, shy, anxious, exhausted, dealing with your own stuff. Sometimes reading is the only low-energy joy you can manage. I understand that. Iāve been there.
And then thereās the extra layer that doesnāt get talked about enough: when a reader does comment, when they take that leap, and the author never acknowledges it, that can be discouraging. Not because anyone is entitled to a response. No one is owed an authorās time. But because a comment is, in itself, an attempt at connection. Itās someone saying, āIām reaching out. Iām here.ā And when that gets met with silence repeatedly, it can make readers hesitate to do it again. Itās the same āvoid feeling,ā just from the other direction.
Iāve had moments as a reader where I left a long comment because a fic genuinely moved me, and then I never heard anything back. And logically, I know the reasons could be anything: busy life, mental health, anxiety, overwhelm, not knowing what to say, forgetting, feeling awkward replying late. I get it. But emotionally, it still does something: it makes you question whether your enthusiasm was unwanted, or whether you misread the vibe, or whether you should just⦠not bother next time. And thatās how the loop breaks.
Because interaction is a loop. Itās not a one-way transaction where writers āprovide contentā and readers āconsume itā and thatās the end. Fandom thrives on reciprocity: small, imperfect, human reciprocity. Readers are more likely to comment when they feel welcomed. Writers are more likely to keep posting when they feel supported. When one side goes quiet, the other side tends to go quieter too. And then we all end up convinced āfandom is deadā when, really, itās just⦠people feeling unseen.
I also think we underestimate how much Tumblrās culture has shifted. A lot of people treat it like a quiet archive now: scroll, like, move on. Thatās not inherently wrong. But it does change the experience for creators, especially writers, because writing already exists in a weird space online. Art gets shared as images; gifs are instant; short posts are easy. Fic asks for time and attention. So when you read a chapter and feel something, saying anything back is a bigger deal than you might realize.
And none of this is meant to shame anyone. Seriously. This isnāt āyouāre a bad person if you donāt comment.ā This is me saying: if you want the kind of fandom space where people keep creating, keep sharing, keep taking risks⦠interaction is part of that ecosystem. Itās how we keep each other warm.
So hereās what Iām asking, softly:
If you loved something, reblog it. Even without tags. Even without commentary. A simple reblog is already a huge boost.
If you can spare a second, leave a comment. It can be one sentence. It can be emojis. It can be āIām screaming.ā It doesnāt have to be eloquent to be meaningful.
And if youāre a writer and youāre able: acknowledge your commenters. Not with pressure, not with perfection. Even a heart, a āthank you,ā a āthis made my dayā can make someone feel seen. It tells readers their voice didnāt disappear into the void.
More and more, Tumblr feels quieter than it used to. Not just for fic: in general. Less talking in the tags. Less back-and-forth. Less of that āfandom is a neighborhoodā feeling where youād recognize people on your dash, see the same posts traveling around, watch conversations unfold across reblogs. Now it can feel like everyone is in their own little bubble: scrolling, liking, saving things for later, and moving on. And, again, I donāt say that as a complaint aimed at anyone; life is heavier, attention is scattered, people are tired. I get it. But I do think the shift matters, because Tumblrās magic has always been the community part, not just the content part.
Iām not asking for constant engagement. Iām asking for the little human moments that remind us weāre not alone on this website.
Because at its best, Tumblr fandom is a conversation.
And I miss the conversation.
