Like many people around the world, I found myself just mortified over the insurrection that took place at the United States Capitol on January 06th. I found myself shaking my head, watching the domestic terrorists storming the Capitol building - on their mission to overthrow the government to delay the confirmation of President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.
I watched in utter blight, as Trump supporters â triggered by a tweet from Donald Trump urging violence or to fight back; just started their pursuit to break into the US Capitol. But knowing these fascists - being completely foolish; would believe anything that their âheroâ says. And trust me, itâs childish and immature. I've known people who don't educate themselves before they open their mouths to shout their judgements. These chaps were dressed to the nines with Trump merchandise, waving around Trump 2020 flags like they're at the Olympics Closing Ceremony or something... Complete stupidity on their front.
The reason for this violence, was because they were upset Trump lost the election in a landslide. Even when Trump begged for the counters to recount every mail in an in-person ballot that was delivered to the polling station the night of November 03rd. All while these recounts found more votes for Biden and Harris over more for Trump. And don't get me started over how Trump says the election was stolen from him, and whatnot because it's not up to his little base to decide the outcome - it is the American people who appoint their new leader. There is nothing that's been stolen. It was an honest election. It's over, you can't change it. It is done.
Why did they have to be a bloody belligerent and destroy a public, federal property with sitting representatives inside? Especially in the middle of the COVID-19 Pandemic? When the hospitals are over packed? Was it just to build their egos back up again? No it was because of white privilege. Had this been a Black Lives Matter protest, there would have been tighter security that day. But it wasn't. It was a handful of overly privileged white, spoiled brats who were butthurt over the election results.
Now because of this, Trump has been banned from pretty much all social media and the brats who did this are placed on No-Fly lists - a way to make them even more butthurt and stupid. Not to mention that the next PGA golf tournaments will be held at a different golf course. He also has been banned from everything. Throw a possible impeachment on the grill too, and he loses his secret service detail, his one million dollar vacation plan, the pension and also the power to run in 2024 for President.
We can do better than this, we need to be better examples for the future generation â the future of the United States. We can do better, and we will. Our kids will learn about this in their social studies textbooks in school. They will ask questions and we will need to have answers. For the next few days can we be kind? Is that too much to ask?
