I’m happy to have marks from my cat. I know she’ll be gone one day, but I’ll always have her on me. It’s kind of nice.

I have a nasty scar on my inner forearm from her that I’m thinking about getting tattooed one day to commemorate her… but for now I just let her scratch at me and sit on all of my work stuff while she purrs VERY loudly.

Then, of course, there’s Victor (aka world-class asshole), who. Like. In that first meeting scene, sure, he treated him like his kid almost. But after it started getting. Yk. And that resonated with me too! A lot!! (My relationship with my mother is awesome can you tell 😀😀)

Anyway as a result I really wanted to watch the movie with said mother with the opening statement “I resonate with the creature a lot” to see if she clocked the autism allegory/how it feels to be subjected to hate for something uncontrollable (essentially a callout)

Mother did say things like “gosh Victor’s terrible” and “that poor thing” when watching, but at the end, I asked her directly about it.

She, uh, acknowledged it and then went on to discuss something else.

Fine, then. I can only hope that somewhere in her head, she realized that the scene where Victor is yelling at the creature while he cowers for “being stupid,” was familiar.

Sometimes the only person you can talk to is your target.
