John Lannister, “son of the mighty Tywin” is what the Lannisters say. Sometimes with mocking intent or out of fear.

John did not own golden locks, some shades lighter. Silver hair, specifically. And did not own green eyes. Amethyst ones. He was born in war and grief, who could have guessed that the expected golden child would have ripped his mother’s womb when he made his way out?

And that the offspring, not only provoked the death of his mother, but was the Mad King’s seed?

Everyone in court was aware of the attention Aerys The Second was giving to Tywin’s cousin, Joanna Lannister, but no one expected the outcome of that fixation.

The Old Lion would have impulsively the babies killed.

But what is more disarming than the eyes of a woman dying?

They were Joanna’s last “gifts” to the world, how could he deny the final wish of the woman you love laid down in her own blood and regrets?

Tywin legitimated them to avoid further shame onto his house. Many wondered why the Lord of Casterly Rock have not just send them away, stripped of their titles and privileges. That’s a question only he knows the answer to. Or perhaps not.

But the one requirement Tywin failed as their “lawful father”, or perhaps didn’t even try to fulfill, was to love them, shaping the man John had become.

He was beautiful and cruel: his eyes, so like the King Scab, were an ethereal shade of violet and pink, yet dark within.

His jaw, so sharp and clenched, and to not mention his voluminous silver waves that attracted fearful and disapproving glances everywhere he stormed in. The lords, maybe, but not their sighing wives and daughters.

He was knighted at 16 and made Commander of the City Watch in 299 A.C by Tywin at only 17. He may have hated him, yes, but he recognized his skills as a swordsman. His training was fueled by rage and neglect even though he didn’t have the same exclusive tutoring Jaime’s had.

He loved few things: his sister and the sword. And Dornish women.

I figured Tywin put so little effort in his name and just called him John 😭
