Maui is a powerful demigod. Big and strong and… oh, you think he looks fat?

That’s probably because you’ve been conditioned by the media to accept this

as what strong and fit looks like. Amiright?

Sadly… these guys are not all that strong. Yeah, they got muscles… but they aren’t built in a useful way. They are built for looks and that’s about it.

This… 

is a strong guy. Actually a competitor in the Strongman competition. But… his tummy sticks out and he doesn’t look like a Dorito. 

You know who else is strong?

And Maui…

Look at those arms, omg. And that solid, sturdy torso. You can see a shadow where his meat covers his ribs, but he doesn’t look like any slouch to me.

And this guy…

That’s Dwayne Johnson’s grandfather. When the Disney animators showed him their sketches of Maui, he pulled out a picture of his grandfather and showed it to them because he was amazed how similar they looked. This dude was also a pro wrestler.

Now… look at Maui again.

That thickness don’t move like fat. It doesn’t jiggle and he’s able to flex it. Look at how it sits on his body. It doesn’t sag… he doesn’t have a gut. There’s even a slight V shape to his torso.

It’s just big and not ‘defined’.

And people aren’t used to that.

Then she had time to wait outside for the uber this poor man drove to come pick her up. Then she got in his back seat and stabbed him multiple times, pushed him out onto the street, and stole the car. He was able to tell the police who stabbed him before he died. She then crashes the car and is found by the police hiding behind a tree covered in blood. The police try to gently coerce her into dropping her fucking blood covered knives and when she refuses do they shoot her eight times? Oh noooo Lizzy Borden gets tazed and brought in unharmed.

The white guy who took weapons to a convention and planned to kill Jason David Frank and multiple police officers was taken alive.

The white guy who murdered two men who had tried to defend the Muslim women he was harassing was taken alive.

There’s a lot of big, wordy articles going around tumblr right now, and they’re all great. But I wanted to make a mastpost of sorts of all the actions you can take and sites/bots that are here to help.

battleforthenet - The main hub for all things net neutrality. Fill out a form in seconds to e-mail your rep, or enter your phone number and a prerecorded message will call you, tell you exactly what to do and provide a script before connecting you with your representative. You can also set up a daily call.

Verizon Protests - Protests are happening at Verizon stores across the country on Dec 14th. 

5 calls - This site is my favorite for calls. They provide a script and directions for calling the FCC, senators, and local state rep. 

Resistbot - A phenominal service for those who cannot call, this bot will contact your rep on your behalf. However, every time I try to use it, they are busy.

Many of you are hitting the same roadblock I am: Mailboxes are full. So what do we do at that point? We send letters. Go to WhoIsMyRepresentative.com and enter your zip code to find addresses for your senators and house reps. You can use the phone script from the sites above, or compose your own note, or simply write “I am your constituent and I want you to fight to keep net neutrality.”

In Canada we have an oligarchy of service providers. Cable, internet and phone were all controlled by two companies until very recently when the gov finally pushed through some bills to allow for better competition. But if you didn’t know any better there was an illusion of choice - we have something like 16 phone service providers but they’re literally all owned by the same two companies. The ‘cheaper’ alternatives are often given lower quality service on purpose. One even recently ran an ad campaign to about ‘sticking it to the big guys’, aka the guys that own them and dictate the rates and available services. They got rightly reamed on social media.

And the other problem is that the big two own all the infrastructure. If a third party wanted to try to get in the game they would either have to rent the structures or build their own, which isn’t the easiest or cheapest, and so their service would be dodgey, throttled and not cheap enough to justify. So many have tried and died. And that’s in heavily urban areas, go anywhere rural and you’re shit out of luck

The government had to finally step in and force the big two to allow for phone unlocking and to let third parties use the infrastructure as equally as their companies and we’re only just finally getting some real competition in service providers besides the same package in different colours.

Canada has the worst cell phone service in the world. We pay out the ass for minimal quality. It costs me 200$ every month for 3gb of data split between two phones. It’s goddamn stupid. And it’s all because we had lax restrictions on how the industry could form and the companies were allowed to pretend we had options when they were all different heads of the same hydra.

There’s a lot of stuff Americans could copy from us but our media service providers is not one of them. The above post with options is a great way to let your voice be heard with minimal effort. If you’re not of voting age bring this up with your parents - point out that this will stifle competition, allow the major companies to buy up the smaller competitors and then puppet them around to pretend you have choice when they’re giving you poorer quality at the same cost to themselves. Nothing gets parents mad like bills.
