It has been four years since Arctic Monkeys last released new music, following their 2022 album The Car. This week, the British band returned with a surprise single, āOpening Night,ā released as the opening track on HELP(2), a collaborative charity album curated by War Child.
HELP(2) is the second installment of War Childās compilation series, created to raise funds for children affected by war by supporting access to aid, education, and protection. The album is scheduled for release in March 2026 and is available for pre-order now.
Alongside Arctic Monkeys, HELP(2) features contributions from a diverse lineup of artists, including Olivia Rodrigo, Foals, Depeche Mode, Beck, and Cameron Winter.
āOpening Nightā marks a return to a more familiar Arctic Monkeys sound, blending the bandās refined recent style with echoes of their earlier, more ethereal energy. From its opening moments, the track gradually shifts into a disorienting and cinematic atmosphere, suggesting a different eraāor perhaps an entirely different world.
Lines such as āMystery boxes from which you cannot escape / Sticking your neck out in a spiritual wayā evoke images of desolate, conflict-scarred spaces, populated by memories and ghosts rather than people. The songās imagery feels abstract yet emotionally heavy, aligning with the albumās humanitarian purpose.
After years of relative silence, Arctic Monkeysā return carries particular weight. Their decision to re-emerge through a charity project supporting children affected by global conflict adds a deeper resonance to the release, reinforcing the bandās impact beyond music alone.
Enjoy!

āFocusing on my own mental health was difficult in the beginning. I needed to ascertain the difference between where my environment was shaping my thoughts and where my mind was affecting how I perceived things.ā- Adrian Smith (@adrian3d) artist
Happy Mental Health Month, Tumblr!
Mental Health is important. With May being Mental Health Month, we want to take this opportunity to not only facilitate discussions on mental health but also to help those who arenāt familiar with mental health issues and coping strategies learn how to navigate these choppy waters.
For many people, discussing mental health issues was not a welcomed topic in their childhood home. Whether you come from families whose cultural values didnāt totally align with your own, or you felt unsafe discussing who you really areāwe see you. No matter if youāre just starting on your mental health journey or have been tackling it for some time, you should be proud of your accomplishments thus far.
All month long Post It Forward will be sparking dialogue surrounding four big issues many peopleāespecially young peopleāface today: eating disorders, anxiety, addiction, and suicide.Ā
This will be tough. For some, it will be really tough. But itās important that we let people know it is okay to be open and honest with your personal struggles.
If you donāt want to see these posts, donāt worry. We got you. Weāll be putting content warnings in all of our tags, and, you can easily filter them from your dashboard with our filtering tool. You have total control over what you see (and donāt see).
Nowā¦letās have the first discussion. Tumblr, if you could tell a younger version of yourself anything about mental health, what would you say? Use the hashtag #postitforward in your post so others can see your conversation easily!
Just keep forward
