Pokes my head up,,, Introducing the first chapter of the first part of the AU I’ve been working on; Lethal Flaws! We’re throwing Glisten into the Lethal wringer ehehehe!

This one’s gonna be a short multi-chapter fic and then I’ll probably be mostly doing oneshots after it’s finished,,,

I cannot make it any more clear that Glisten does not normally act like this!!! When Glisten’s frustrated, he tends to deflect the comments made towards him, or hype himself up. Notably, I always think of his interactions with the artists as examples of this.

Which tells me he is genuinely upset in Waxwell’s interaction. Even when frustrated, Glisten never directly attacks someone like this. The closest he gets is his interaction with Shrimpo where he only turns Shrimpo’s words against him. He never actually says Shrimpo is ugly, only that he himself is a mirror. Compared to the Waxwell dialogue, this reads a lot more lighthearted. 

But Waxwell isn’t a toon that blindly hates like Shrimpo, so he isn’t as easy to not take as seriously. I think Glisten is able to ignore Shrimpo because Shrimpo’s bullying doesn’t have much real weight.

I don’t actually think Waxwell means to say Glisten’s a clumsy failure as a fact, moreso just bugging Glisten about something that’s been circulating in recent gossip. Unfortunately, Waxwell accidentally hits a very vulnerable spot for Glisten. And Glisten ends up retaliating with an equally biting response.

Glisten also rarely outright ignores anyone and chooses not to speak, so it’s very telling to me of just how upset he is by the conversation. The only other time where he outright refuses to respond to someone is in his Looey interaction where he really doesn’t wanna say he doesn’t like clowns in front of his friend who is a clown.

With Waxwell, he doesnt want to say something he’ll regret, either about Waxwell or about it him self, or he already regrets what he said. And I do actually think he does regret what he says here because in another interaction with a lot, Glisten makes a remark to Blot (I believe intended to be lighthearted but was taken as an insult) and immediately regrets it. (Of course this could be him actually making a dig at Blot but he doesn’t normally do that so I think it was a failed attempt at making a lighthearted jab)

Also holy shit Glisten 😭 With Shrimpo he only implied that he was ugly, but he just straight up tells Waxwell he’s a failure that’s crazy

Granted, Waxwell did also take a dig at Glisten’s own fears,,, And Glis does tend to get more sarcastic and deflects his frustrations when upset,,,
