If you can, be devastated without despairing. If you gotta despair, see if you can hold the experience as temporary and deceptive. Sleep, prioritize your practical needs, lean into distractions.

If you can’t stop thinking about The Work, let yourself, but don’t let it be relentless. Don’t think about it all, ask yourself where it intersects with your strengths, or the strengths you want to build. And break it up with bitching about mundane things, having fun, and any elevated meaning-making you’re inclined towards.

"it's fucked, its hopeless, we're all going to die, what the hell do I do now". sums up what i've heard all day. so here's what you're going to do, here's what I want you to do.

organise. collaborate. hold on. It is easy, I know, to resign yourself to hopelessness. I am not a naturally optimistic person. I choose ruthless radical persistence because survival is rebellion.

do not catastrophise, do not engage in doomerism, and DO NOT GIVE UP. Take the time to grieve, and then pick your friends up, and keep going. We will PROTECT people at risk, we will DISRUPT the plans of those who would harm us, and we will BUILD connections with other people to help pave our way to better times.

It isn't over. It hasn't even begun. Generations haven't loved and laughed and fought and survived just for you to give up. it is unfair. it makes me so deeply angry that a man like that can be elected. but there are people all over, working with me, organising among themselves, or who have had plans in place for years. there is always a solution to a problem. ask for help when you need, offer help when you can. you are not alone.

community will get us through. sing dance shout scream laugh in the face of everything. cry if you need but never fucking give up. at your most scared, act strong.

idk how many people have seen this going around on instagram and i have a lot of thoughts that i don't feel like posting on personal socials cause ive been nonstop yapping there anyways.

it's great to see this many shares of support, don't get me wrong. but there's something so hollow and cynical about a sanitized, ai generated, literal mile high view of some neat rows of refugee tents when there is real footage of people burning alive. there are probably more "tents" in that picture than there are people left in rafah.

i've seen more people sharing resources and information on my socials today than i ever have before, and that does count for something.

now's the time to nurture that seed in people and guide them towards taking part in direct effective action, even just posting donation links.
