just watched idol i to episode six on netflix and i have thoughts and opinions
lemme start this by saying i’m open to maybe changing a few views
1. i don’t think laik and se-na should end up together. i think laik needs to go heal. i understand where her love for him (or whatever) comes from; i understand that he helped her get through her tough times from when she was bullied and whatever, but i think it’s solid to say she’s still a fan. i think for the writers to carry out and create an actual relationship out of this current dynamic that is going on—even behind the scenes (and by this i mean her secretly being a fan/ex-fan/whatever) damages or hinders the potential route that this show can take to actually make a statement. i’m not exactly sure for right now what i’m trying to say as far as this point goes, but i will be back once i investigate further. but i did start having this thought at like episode 4.
2. (this isn’t really a view or praise—especially since everyone has had this same thought) but i like how we’ve addressed saesangs and crazy fans, but this is still so watered down i feel. but ofc most shows that follow an idol storyline touches on saesangs and obsessive fans so it’s really no different. (could be wrong idk) although it definitely did a good job at getting me pissed bc why does it matter if he called you a cockroach? you’re in his house.
3. this show has truly reminded me of how sensitive korean media/press/public can be. so many misunderstandings and words/actions being taken out of context and spun around.
4. i still don’t quite understand what the issue between laik and hye joo was.
5. i could’ve read the scene wrong, but i hope chung jae isn’t in love with se-na. i also don’t quite understand what their dynamic is
6. i wouldn’t be mad if se-na and byeong gyun got together but maybe that’s too left field for y’all ☹️
^i have rethought my original thought and i kinda take it back. i don’t believe in redemption and she won’t take her foot of his neck so it wouldn’t happen, and maybe it shouldn’t.
7. i won’t lie, for a little bit i thought that laik and woo seung were lovers cause of the flashback montages we got 😭😭
8. will be back when i think of more points but idk who killed him, i think saying that the company killed him would be too easy and so obvious so if that’s right i’ll be a little disappointed i would also kinda be disappointed if it turns out that byeong gyun’s boss or whoever that man is that’s really pushy turns out to be the one that killed him. that would also be too obvious
okay here are my thoughts after watching videos and seeing other ppls thoughts (i’m not changing my mind on these):
- whether she knew him before debut or whatever, and fell in love with him then or whatever idc. first off it’s not healthy to let yourself be this obsessed with a celebrity anyways. so yes, i’m disgusted that she cried for days bc he had a dating rumor.
- now i’m thinking part of the reason that i don’t want them to end up together is because of the dynamic that they have. (like before the ending of ep 6) i’ve also seen that they are lacking actual chemistry, and i think i agree. i feel more chemistry w her and byeong gyun more but still not really feeling that either
^additionally, back to this fan thing, despite how the dynamic could change, it doesn’t change what she once was to him whether he knew it or not. a fan. a fan who knew everything. it’s so unfair to start a relationship like that. and right now i’m being a little personal with my opinion, but part of getting into a relationship is learning these things about your partner. she’s already cheated that system. but i understand that everyone’s relationship dynamics and what they tolerate and set boundaries for is different so wtv
