Take Your Time, Wait ’Till I Tire Out || Mikey and Amanda

Mikey was relieved that his lips had cut off Amanda. He had no idea what she was talking about anymore. Were there other guys? He didn’t understand. But once his lips were pressed against hers he was able to relax. Nothing else mattered; the whole world melted away. And then, the space between them exploded. His heart kept skipping beats and his hands couldn’t bring her close enough to him. He tasted her and realised he had been starving. He had kissed her before, but it didn’t burn him alive like this one. Their lips parted and Mikey let out a soft sigh, looking down at her as she stood before him.
Shaking his head, Mikey kissed the crown of her head. “I’m not storming off,” he promised. “I’m not going anywhere,” Mikey assured her. “I’m staying right here,” he said softly. His arms wrapped around her and pulled her closer. “I think you’re the only person who gets me. When I’m with you, the world doesn’t feel like a problem I can’t figure out.” He whispered. Mikey’s hand ran over her back slowly, breathing out slowly. This probably wasn’t the best time to do this; she was drunk and he was in the middle of wedding preparations, but he just couldn’t leave her.
Amanda felt herself start to smile in spite of herself. She tried not to smile big enough that their lips would part because--oh, no--she wasn’t ready for that yet. Not when his lips were setting her on fire from the inside out. This wasn’t an ordinary kiss--it was something that she knew she’d never forget the feeling of. She couldn’t think straight--she didn’t want to. She wanted to stay here, with his arms strong and steadily wrapped around her, in the place where the rest of the world (and the problems that could ensue from all of this), didn’t matter--hell, in this moment with Mikey they didn’t even exist. For the first time in a long time, Amanda felt something more than resentment, more than the cold. For the first time in a long time, Amanda felt wanted.
Amanda’s eyes gently shut as Mikey’s lips pressed to the top of her head. She ran a hand down his chest slowly, and then back up to link her hands behind his neck. She smiled softly at his whispered confession and looked up at him. Him, the man in front of her. The only person who bothered to give a damn about her for more than what she could do for them (or perhaps better, what she could show them). But here he was, the only person who could break her heart, and he was wanting her in a way that seemed almost as bad as she wanted him. “Me too,” She murmured. “And as fucked as it is,” Amanda said with a small chuckle. “You’ve been the most sturdy thing I’ve ever had. Ever since I met you.”
