Lately I’ve been doing a director specific film study. I choose a filmmaker and examine my way through their body of work. Currently I am working my way through David Fincher’s films, most recently with ‘Se7en’. Watching it again, it’s crazy to realize how many films it has inspired, even credit sequences (American Horror Story). It’s really the look of the film that I’m most obsessed with, that bleak noir style that Fincher and Darius Khondji crafted so perfectly. These are a few of my favorite shots from the film. I can only post ten at a time on Tumblr, it was painful to leave so many amazing shots out… A great thing to look at is the use of practicals in some of these frames.
More lighting tests. This time using the bar light and some diffusion. Still playing around with a darker/minimal look, using some practicals to breakup the background.
Messing around with a new DIY light for this Thursday's episode. Just using one light in these shots.
Also using a process of removing noise then adding film grain for a more filmic look.

One of the greatest monologues of all time.
Some of my favorite shots from 'Munich'. For me, this is one of Spielberg's most underrated films. The way he moves the camera in this film is just brilliant. It also has one of my favorite second acts of all time.
Excellent interview with Christopher Nolan. Tons of great info and inspiration.
BTS of Spielberg directing a few scenes of Jurassic Park.
