More of a Sinner

“What about them? Nat’s already the wife of a hate group member as far as the media is concerned and there is nothing I can say or do to change that! I have no proof that I’m not. I’m the niece of the Revelationist who locked us all up in the warehouse, I’m the runaway who fled manhattan after killing her own stepmom, I’m the Skinwalker who shares a body with her own sister, I’m the gang member who wears her tat proudly for the whole world to see and I’m the idiot who wrote her name down on that dang contract. Heck, even the set security guard believes it. Me trying to defend myself would only add fuel to the fire and I- I’m fucking tired, Rocky,” Chloe swore. “I’m fucking tired of trying to be the bigger person all the damn time. I’m sick of it. Do you know how much I’ve wanted to scream over these past few years? How much I wanted to yell fuck you or just punch someone? How much I’ve wanted to give into the parts of myself I’ve been petrified of or Meredith’s voice in the back of my head? And I know you’re trying to help me. I do, but I have enough guilt eating away at me on a daily basis. So, I’m really sorry, but I really don’t need you to remind me of how my actions might fuck up the lives of my unborn children right now,” She exclaimed. Chloe was never one to swear or raise her voice. If anything, she’d spell out a curse word before ever daring to mutter it out loud. But, the second she had been declared a ‘revelationist’, it was like something snapped within her. “I know they’re powerful. But, so am I. I’m Chloe fucking Riley-Burgess and I’m going to make them remember who they decided to mess with. What families they decided to mess with.”

Rocky understood more than most where Chloe was coming from. She was no niece of a hate group. But Rocky always felt defined by who she was and the titles that people bestowed upon her. She was the granddaughter of faerie Elders, which came with expectations. The daughter of two famous and popular musicians, which came with another set of expectations. And then she became the negative things in the media. But she gave into them. She became the homewrecker, the wild child, the whore. “My point is not to make you feel guilty. My point is that just because someone slaps you with labels doesn’t make you the person that they say you are. It doesn’t make you that person to your wife, or your friends or your family. And I don’t want you to succumb to that life. I know how it feels to just be tired or trying to prove you’re not what the media says you are and I also know what it’s like to just give in and become it. Revenge is a slippery slope, so be careful.” She had nothing against revenge, she just didn’t want to see her friend lose herself. 

“Okay. As long as you’re sure,” He said, despite the bit of apprehension in his voice. “You were thin. Just like you’re thin now,” Connor couldn’t help but chuckle. Rolling his eyes lightly over as Rocky accused him of lying. “Eh- they’ll be time to talk later. Now come here, Darlin,” Connor grinned into the kiss, looping his arm around his girl’s waist as he guided her back towards the bed.

“I am absolutely sure,” she said, reaching up to caress his cheek. “I love you and I think about you completely ravishing me every day, more times than I care to admit actually. We won’t lose that fiery passion and you with those magic hands. That magic...well everything else. Besides, you keep sweet talking me like this and the prospect of me letting you leave this house for a couple of days may be slim to none. I will pounce on you every chance I get.” She smirked. She loved that man, him calling her thin, even when they both knew the truth made her heart flutter and caused her smile to grow even brighter. “Much, much later.” Truth be told, she was already forgetting what she wanted to talk to him about as his lips touching hers caused her mind to muddle. Rocky tugged at his shirt, lifting it up and over his head. “Shirts in the house for you, Mister, should be fucking illegal.” Her hands roamed over his chest and down his abs. It didn’t matter just how many times they’d made that trail, she was mesmerized wotj each and every journey her hands took. 

Mitch: I can pay you much more to not do that.

Mitch: I was a grunt level stunt double back then. When would you have had time to notice me? Let alone have a crush.

Rocky: Too bad I don't want the money. I'd have to be swayed in other ways. Money is not a motivator.

“Why did she do that though?” Gigi asked curiously. “And huh… no. Don’t think so. Grant showed me that kind of love once with his whole vampire empathy thing, but it wasn’t the same. Honestly, I don’t really think I’m capable of it- The whole would do anything for the other person, heart wrenching can’t live without them feelings they show on TV,” She said with a shrug. She knew her version of love was closer to normal people’s version of ‘like’ or a ‘crush’. It was just another thing on the long list of reasons why she was different. Not that she minded all that much. “See! This is why Scar is my favorite. I wish I could have been there. It would have been funny to watch your hair get pulled. No offense. And you did what now? He’s that good in bed, huh? Who knew Kent had it in him.”

“Starstruck I guess. Your girl was a huge fan. One time Connor had her over for dinner and she was still starstruck which is odd because I work with her and see her every day. And I’m not childhood crush and hero material. I think it’s cute though, you and her and Dom. Honestly I don’t know how you handle two people. All those personalities and yet it all works. Or at least that’s how it seems to me.” She smiled because being self proclaimed “niece” to Gigi she did quietly observe and was happy with what she saw. “Full offense it was not funny. She really had a hold of it and she found it so funny. I didn’t but I love that little terrorizer.” She felt herself actually blushing at Gigi’s words. “Yeah...he’s amazing in bed, and he made me breakfast after. I knew in that moment I didn’t want a single other man but that one. Technically, he had it in me, but I had a feeling that he did when I met him.”

Rocky: I know you've texted the wrong number, but wow...okay.

“Neither. I may not have taken part in the horrible stuff they did, but I’m not exactly innocent either. I’m still a killer and a skinwalker, so I don’t really see the point in trying to prove the media wrong or try to rise above it. But, maybe instead of getting mad, I can get even? Show the Alliance what it’s like to mess with a Riley?”

“Maybe it’s my wife and mommy brain here, but what about your family and maybe your future one if you and Natalia want kids? You don’t rise above it then Natalia’s the wife or a hate group member. Your future babies are antagonized at school because their mommy was in a hate group. Listen, I’ve got my own skeletons, sure they’re not a hate group and more so my kids will have to learn that their mom was a whore who broke up marriages. And that’s how their parents got together, but I am fixing that image. Being what they want you to be only ruins yours. And your wife’s and any future children’s. And if you do get even, be careful? Because they obviously are very powerful, Chloe.” 

“…I didn’t know that when Connor married you and you two had kids, that I was getting a second mom.” Iz said in lieu of greeting as Rocky entered his home to literally call him out on his shit. He’d been in the kitchen, in the middle of grabbing a fresh, cold beer from the fridge when she appeared. Out of fucking nowhere. Iz put the beer back. He then grabbed, glasses and a random bottle from his hard liquor stash instead. “Want one?” He asked before actually answering her. 

“It was an accident. Why would I, a black bisexual werewolf, want to join a fucking hate group, Rocky? Please tell me ‘cause I wanna know.” He poured himself a healthy amount before downing it. Iz poured himself some more. “I just… All my life I had to hide who and what the fuck I was. I just thought finally here’s a chance to be me. All of me. I didn’t know I was walking into some bullshit trap.” He drank that and poured himself a third.

“First off, you should have learned that once I became a mom, I mom anyone making choices like...signing up for homelands that align you with hate groups. And if you think this is bad, then you better be lucky you’re not Damien Kent because he’s next and I’m going to kick his ass.” As he poured himself a drink, and offered her one she shook her head. “No. Alcohol is a slippery slope and a gateway to other things for me.” She had to pride herself on being able to decline. There was a voice in the back of her mind that said ‘it’s just a drink’, but she knew that just a drink now could lead to more later, and before she knew it she’d be doing a line and a club bathroom somewhere. 

“You never know? Internalized hate?  You can be you now. Everyone is out. You don’t need some homeland for that. You’re loved and accepted for being your large, wolfy self. You know, they never really ever outright said anything. Just plied everyone with the idea of togetherness,” she pointed out. 

Connor: “I better be,” Connor chuckled, grinning over at her like an idiot as he pressed another kiss against her lips and then another. “Something like this?” He said, mimicking her innocent tone as he trailed kisses down her neck. “And this?” Lifting up the sheets as he gave both of her breasts the attention they deserved. “You got to be in bed with all of this anyhow, but I am the luckiest man, I hope you know, to get to call you my wife.”

“I just unknowingly signed up to join the same group that trapped me in a car on fire. So yeah… I’m just dandy,” Chloe mumbled under her breath, feeling more numb than anything these days.

“Yeah, that happened. But it’s not like you took part in any of the horrible shit they did. So what are you going to do about it? Wallow, and accept this? Or actually fight it?” 

“The girl that screams in your face? How is there a difference?” She asked, honestly curious. “Are they fairly normal sized though is they have to grow into their heads? And I mean I like the evil one as far as kids go. She’s fun! And as for the faerie, I see… potential in him to be great. With a little guidance of course. Are you reformed or did you just steal a man you’re not willing to give up?” Gigi laughed some more. “Good for you. It’s good to let her learn, but be there to show her the way when she inevitable needs it.”

“Yes, she screamed in my face and I’ll always remember that. But I suppose she’s sweet. Not so much a difference but more I was gearing up to ask if she makes you feel the forget who you are love.” Rocky thought about her question for a moment about whether or not the babies had actually grown into their heads. “Well their only one -16 months to be exact -, so they technically still sort of look like babies but are growing into toddlers and can’t really do anything for themselves besides pull up on things, crawl, walk kind of, and they understand words you say now and can point to things. They’re starting to imitate sounds and can say some things like yes, no, mama, dada, baba. I think Peter tried to say cookie the other day. I’m pretty sure Scar’s a mean girl in training. She pulled my hair yesterday when I told her no and then she laughed and clapped. I didn’t know whether to be proud or concerned. I bet you would enjoy visiting now. They’re a little older and dont just lay around eat and cry.” ROcky could probably talk about her babies all day. She loved them and their quirks. “I’m reformed and I didn’t steal this man. He came willingly. And besides I’m pretty sure even if he hadn’t left his wife at the time, I would have just been his. I promised him I was all his when we first had sex and I meant it.” Rocky nodded then. “Being a mom is showing me that I have to let my kids fall down sometimes so they learn. So I can do that with Isa.”

“Now that doesn’t seem shitty. That seems human. The shitty part is being glad that she’s out of the picture,” Kenzi chuckled. Her brow tilting up at the woman’s next comment. “Twelve babies? Wow. Just curious, but do you like hate your vagina or something? And the throwing people out of the way stills seems very jock-ish to me. Like one of those stereotypical football players in any 90′s teen movie.”

“Well, I mean if she wasn’t out of the picture, she would still be cheating on Connor, hurting him, and I would befriend him and try and fail at seducing him because he’s a stand up guy. So yeah, it’s the shitty part but I am glad she’s out of the picture.” Rocky shook her head. “Why does everyone think that I hate my vagina. Chances are that I can’t ever really have a vaginal birth since I had a c-section with the twins. It may not be safe with any future babies. So my vagina is going to be intact. He can be a badass, jock and my very own prince charming all rolled into one. He is honestly. 

“In that case, Brunch Yoda, what is the best food to start with? And any advice on how to avoid the long-winded people from the beginning?” 

“Best food to start with, hmm. Depends on who you’re talking to first. If you have a long-winded person on the list, I always pile my plate. All the goodies that will have me chewing and eating throughout the whole conversation. Since it’s impolite to talk with your mouthful all you do is eat and nod. By the time they finish talking you’ve finished your food. You’re ready for dessert and onto the more interesting non-conversation hogs.” 

“Hey Darlin’,” Connor said, wrapping his arms around her from behind and leaning forwards to press a light kiss against her shoulder blade. “Oh? I mean I’m not exactly appose to option two. But, I’m fine with using the app too if you want to? Just… can we be careful not to only follow the app? It’s just with Cass, we stopped bein’… intimate for us and not to, you know, procreate when the apps and charts came into play and I just, I really don’t want that to happen with us. I mean you know I want a big family with you, but I also want us to be happy first. And as much as I’d love to have baby number three with you now if we can, we do have all the time in the world. And it will happen. But, I’m also fine with waitin’ too and you were thin with twins too.”

“I will never stop being intimate with you. I love you, and I worked very hard to be Mrs. Kent. That spark isn’t going anywhere. Besides, I’ve got the sweetest husband ever, who talks me down from obsessing, and lies to me about being thin when he knows I was a whale carrying the twins. I do really want baby number three, but I’m also really enjoying just having lots and lots of sex with my man. Especially now that the babies sleep through the night.” She leaned in to press her lips against his. “So many things I want to talk to you about right now, but your lips keep attracting me to them,” she said as she kissed him once then twice. She did have so many things to say. She wanted to ask him how all of his friends were that decided to sign up for the homeland, and what he thought about it. And about his brother. But she would get to that, after many more kisses.
