When Pepper finds you, you’re on your lunch break, book in hand and notebook open, distracted. It was normal to find you reading law books, making notes, when you had a break, always pushing harder to know everything you could.
Even though your eyes were on the letters in the white pages, your mind was traveling back to today’s little visit, trying to put it to the side until you could tell Nat and hear it all from her. If you began to think about it, anger bubbled in your stomach, so you ignored it, for now.
“Hey…” Pepper mumbled softly. You look up, seeing her seating beside you, coffee cup in hand. You gave her a weak, tired grin. Mind coming back to where you were.
“Hiding from everyone? Or just not sure of what you’re doing?”
