“It’s never nothing.“

“Then what do you think it is?”

“What kind of logic is that?”

“My kind of logic... you’re in my room, my logic goes.”

“I need someone to come with me to a ball game… Daylight savings is almost over and I want to eat up as much early sundown as I can.“

“A ball game?” She arched her bro skeptically. “Since when do you watch any kind of sports.”

“Human or animal?“

“Animal. They’re the ones who hate us. And who spend the most money.”

“It’s never nothing.“

“You know, you’re very suspicious.”

“Do you hear yourself?“

“What do you want Dan?”

“I’m listening…“

“What?“

“What?“ He smirked. 

“Set the building on fire. It’s harder with us being Underground or the Velvet Room but a theater is an easy pick.“

“Oh nothing.” She kicked his leg lightly under the table, but still perused the blue prints.

“Thin line.“

"Oh, is it?”

Sven chuckled, taking Sadie’s hands off of his chest and tugging her towards his personal room. 

Sadie followed behind, still feeling small, but gripping his hand with her own.

“I think it’s pretty clear to everyone but you that you do not repulse me.“ Sven sighed, catching Sadie around the waist to keep her in place. “Yes! And I would glad rob your cradle.“ He chuckled. “When am I ever not alone? Listen, can you remember you said that?”

“Do you?” 

“It was not clear.” When his arm wrapped around her waist, Sadie’s hands hovered over chest, deciding whether she wanted to push him away or pull herself closer to him. “Then I want you to.” Her brain seemed to decide what to do with her hands and she smoothed them up his chest, cautiously. “Yes, I can.”

“You’re mad because I’m treating you better than all the other women in my life?“ Sven asked slowly. “You’re a kid. And one of the only friend I have here. If I ruin us what more would I have going for me here?“

“Have you met me? If it’s a quick fuck you want I would suggest Jacob. Maybe Danny.“

“I’m mad because it makes me feel like I repulse you. You’re the only one I don’t have to constantly worry about. And I- I like that.” Sadie blinked a few times after he spoke and dropped her eyes to the ground. “You see me as a kid?” She forced herself to at least look straight forward instead of at her feet, and found herself staring at his chest. “You’d rather be alone instead of risking a few possible days of awkwardness? We’re both adults, it wouldn’t ruin everything.”

“Sadie!“ Sven called after her. He was hot on her heels, pulled her back onto his chest as she reached the door. “I never know what’s sarcasm and what’s real with you.“

“Not sarcasm.” She pulled out of his grip and turned to face him staring up at him hard. “How come you never make plays at me? Serious ones."

“…. You’re not ready …“

Sadie went still under him, pursing her lips into a straight line to hide anything. “Well nevermind then.” She moved away from him and went over to the door.
