Gravity Falls // Practical Magic Summer
Heyy, so soon is Summer Solstice (21st of June) and so the Summer officially starts. Are you sad bc you have no idea what to do? Let me give you some ideas if you are wanting to channel the energies of Gravity Falls and Practical Magic this summer
- make pancakes in the morning with a topping you never tried before and add sprinkles to them
- ride a bike to the closest body of water with a blanket, box of cut watermelon and a summer read
- go with a friend to an ice cream shop and let them pick an ice cream for you and you for them
- wear head coverings; baseball hats, cappies, headscarves, make little braids and put trinkets in them
- make yourself the-summer-outfit: the outfit that if you were a cartoon character that's how you'd be drawn every single episode: THE summer outfit
- visit one national park (or some type of protected piece of nature) and note all important animal species that live there in your journal, and learn as much as you want about them
- go out in the forest and try to find spots in nature that you believe were sacred to pagans before the current main monotheistic religion took over in your country (if that's the case)
- have a picknick with a strawberry cake
- plan one evening where you make a bonfire (if wild make sure that it's in a safe place and is legal) or in your garden and collect your friends or family to talk about paranormal, spooky stories (make sure your friends have some time to prepare themselves)
- go to a real tea shop and buy a tea that smells like summer to you
- climb at least one tree that summer
- try making your own rose water spray. Especially June is the season when those flowers thrive. If not buy one, to get the whimsy in your morning routine. It smells beautiful and is very good for inflamed and puffy skins.
- buy cute patches, especially the ones with cryptids on them, and stitch to your "adventure backpack"
- throw a sandwich / tea party. Each friend brings their version of sandwiches, and you all drink tea pretending to be on next episode of Bridgertons. Each friend prepares a sheet in style of Lady Whisteldown and tells the newest updates about their life in such way. Super fun and adds the cozy and whimsy to the function.
- prepare a file folder with "unexplained" title where you will be storing all your paranormal research and photos that summer
- have a marathon with paranormal investigation videos and some cold beer (if you're old enough of course)
- look up if there's any unexplained mystery in your town that ever happened and add it as first file to your folder
- put a cute skirt or some other whimsy outfit on and with a big material bag go to a farm market in the morning
- look up where are your local beekeepers and go to them to get enough honey for the winter. Many beekeepers also offer little workshops and if you ask politely they may even show you their hive boxes.
- go on a hike in a wooden area with an open and curious mind to search for Big Foot. Take a camera with yourself. You can leave a bait on a string a bit higher up in a tree to see if it's ripped. It would work just in areas with no bears otherwise it was for sure a bear. Come back some time after that and investigate full Dipper style
- drink your summer tea or coffee if you so prefer in the morning in your garden
- go on a mysterious walk in the darkness with a real flashlight and I mean a real flashlight (don't go alone, and make sure it's a safe area)
- go to one castle at least and learn why was it eventually abandoned
- celebrate Summerween (originally on summer solstice) I however always celebrate it on the first Saturday of July. Carve a watermelon, make summerween themed snacks and watch a slasher horror movie alone or with friends
- if you still can physically rent out movies in your area, pick the weirdest, cringe looking horror movie or a thriller and watch it together with a friend. You have to take a shot every time you cringe. (You can also get an alcohol free drink)
- one day make little clay figures with your friend (or family member) and let it dry. Then at some unknown point of a day you have to steal that figure and hide it somewhere around the house and the other person does the same to your figure. The goal is to find it before the next sunrise.
- visit a swamp. Swamps were considered portals to the Otherworld by many ancient cultures. Maybe you can investigate there. Also they're such wonderful ecosystems and you can spot there many cool animals and plants :)
- go to a paleontological or archeological museum especially to look at dinosaurs
- go to a river side and read tarot cars on a blanket
- pick strawberries and cherries at your local farm that allows picking
- charge water under a full moon and use it for a coffee next morning for the whimsy
- go to a bookshop and just describe a vibe and let the bookshop worker guide you
- diy a little house for fairies in the garden
Soo these are some of the Gravity Falls ~ whimsical ideas I can offer. Let me know if you like them and if you're actually planning to dome some of them.
