That’s one heck of a snaggle tooth grin XD

So here is my finished picture of an Enfeild a mythical creature depicted in heraldry.

The foxes head symbolized cunning, the eagle’s talons meant honor, and the tail of a wolf to show ferocity. I want to give a shout out to William O’Connor’s image in his Dracopeidia for inspiring the design of the creature and to abookofcreatures.com for some good background on the creature.

I might try my hand at a couple more obscurish mythical creatures. Let me know I am open to sujestions

Trying my hand at drawing the haraldic beast known in English as the enfield. It’s also known as an onchú or sometimes as an alphyn. The fox head represents cunning, the eagle’s talons represent honor and the wolf’s tail(which I haven’t added yet) symbolizes ferocity.

On Cryptic prophecies

So you know how in a lot of media you have that trope where a hero or king or someone goes to an Oracle/ prophet, and instead of getting a straight answer they get some enigma rapped riddle that they either misunderstand or only makes sense when it’s to late. I get that it typically serves the plot or adds an air of mystery to the oracle, but I had another thought. What if it’s just because they suck at explaining things under pressure.

I mean,it wouldn’t matter if they were good or bad, if some anxious looking warrior barged into my hermit hut and demanded to know if he had a good life ahead I’d probably sputter out some nonsense too. On top of that, prophets were often victims of the “shoot the messenger policy.” So if they saw a bad future, they might find it hard to say to some tyrant “All your people hate you and some little brat is gonna cut your head off with a chandelier and a hackey sack.” I guess the vague prophecy kinda like a defense, because if the person takes years figuring out the prophecy, they are less likely to knock the head off the unfortunate prophet as soon as they finish speaking.

On the other hand, sometimes I think the prophets just honestly don’t like the person so they intentionally mislead them. This seems to be the case in stories like Ophedious Rex, were the actions taken to prevent a prophecy often cause it. Or you have situations like the witches in Macbeth misleading the character to think he was invincible. In both cases, the prophets told the truth but knew that more details could have kept the knowledge seeker safe.
